Carson City IRS Office

Phone Number: 1-866-540-5838
Ira Glassman's Ext. #1444
Ira Glassman's PassCode: 4724

(Paraphrase)

Msg#1 (Seems like somebody from a different "branch" of the gov't)

"Mr. Glassman,
It has come to our attention that one of your lower level employees (Grace) did an unauthorized search, this coupled with the rogue agent in Push (Prufrock)
....blah...blah...blah. We've sent a team from Provo to clean up the mess."

Msg. #2 (Sounds like somebody a little more heavy handed than the guy above but could be the same "dep't)

It's IMPERATIVE that you (b)ring (maybe rein) in the agent in Push (Jim). The measures we have currently in place seem to be working. If we don't get control of this some drastic measures will have to be taken against Prufrock....and yourself.

Re: Carson City IRS Office

I haven't listened to the messages myself yet. Are you inserting the names in parenthesis? I suggest the 2nd message be edited, because there is another interpretation:

What if they don't mean an IRS agent, and the agent is Dawn? She might be ruining whatever "measures" the town has in place for dealing with Prufrock on their own. If Dawn is a loose cannon, the "measures" might have to escalate and put Prufrock (and Ira?) in more danger.

I dunno, I just didn't want to make ANY assumptions about a name if it isn't given explicitly in any of these messages.

I find it interesting that Ira's phone number is only different from Silas Bodnick's number by the last digit.

Silas' Phone Number 1-866-540-5837
Ira's Phone Number: 1-866-540-5838

It might be worthwhile to try the before and after numbers in the sequence as well. There may be other answering machines waiting to be discovered.

Just a point of clarification, in case it causes confusion later...

This is not Ira's phone number. Jim was calling Grace, JIM's secretary. He asked Myrna to be TRANSFERRED to Ira, and gave the extension number 1444. This seems to contradict what is presented to a real caller.

As far as them meaning to "bring in the agent " referring to Jim, I can't remember what it said exactly. I'm pretty sure both messages actually said the name "Prufrock". But I might be mistaken and even if they did use his name in that message I don't believe any name was used in that particular sentence. So it may indeed be Dawn they are referring to.

Why would someone calling Ira know anything about Deputy Dawn?

Duh! The numbers are similar because they're not real! ABC registered them at the same time, that's why they're so close.

Okay...after about 6 phone calls here are the messages verbatim:

First Message

"Office Supervisor Glassman,

It has come to our attention through confidential sources that one of your employees' assistants has performed an unauthorized, high level search of the Federal Tax Database.

This, coupled with recent evidence of rogue activity by one agent, Prufrock in Push NV, is of grave concern.

We're going to send a team up from Provo to clean up the situation."

Second Message

"Mr. Glassman,

I would hope you are following up on the situation that we've personally spoken about a number of times now.

It is imperative that you and your organization bring
(or rein) in Mr. Jim Prufrock from his mystery and dealings in Push NV.

The measures we have implemented seem to be working as of now, but your efforts should not wane.
(Last part said in a quiet, threatening manner)

If we all fail this time around, drastic measures will be taken regarding your colleague and....yourself."

As a "guest" here, Wouldn't u like 2 no?, you sure are contentious and condescending with your posts. Needlessly so, I might add. I suggest you take the chip off your shoulder and stop trying to aggravate fellow posters. Mad

I take it by "not real" you mean they don't go to "real" people. They are, after all, "real" numbers because you actually connect to something when you dial the number. And that point was never called into question if you correctly read my post.

The gist of what I was saying was that there seemed to be a pattern forming with the numbers that LP was using for the game. I was presenting a spec that this pattern might be useful for locating other numbers that were also "in-game."

Next time, don't look for fault in others before you look for faulty thinking with your own posts.
