Just wanted to add

If you take the moon from the Rocket Poppeteers page and the shaded area behind Cooper on the ad from the paper, the shaded area behind him has two white spots that line up with two white spots in the dark section of the moon. I haven't looked to see if it's an exact match, bu tthe shaded blotch behind Cooper also seems to be fairly similar to the outline of the dark area on the moon. That also makes the stars from the newspaper ad line up with the father's finger, and the child's Popsicle seems to point at the same white spot as Cooper's thumb.

I sent my coupon Friday, its been in the mail now for 2 days and if you include Friday, 3. I should have something by the end of the month as long as its not 6-8 weeks for delievery...Btw i sent mine First Class Very Happy

I'm glad someone did First Class! I was >< close to sending mine overnight LOL.

I'm thinking that if the p.o box is forwarded, we may not see anything till the end of the week or early next week. Sad Hopefully we'll have more before then LOL

I hate to be that guy...but it really could be months before we get anything. The movie doesn't come out until Summer 2011. Cloverfield updates were sometimes months apart. It would be cool if it kept going at this pace but I'm not very optimistic about that. Also, it's been less than a week since the newspaper clipping was found and not everyone has had a chance to get caught up to that point (just the obsessed ones like us). In my experience, the marketing people behind ARGs like to send mass mailings rather than individuals as they get the addresses. I think we'll all get our stuff around the same time.

BTW I chose Arg Trailhead for my astronaut name. Very Happy

I rather like that they mass mail everything at once, it's a bit more fair and it's exciting when everyone gets all the clues at once. Like during the Dark Knight viral, I remember the days when everyone would get their newspapers or buttons and how everyone flooded to the forums to announce it. Good times.

I'm betting we'll get little bread crumbs from now on until maybe Comic Con where they might through out something big for the event and then the quiet will take over again.

i don't know why everyone seems to be so hellbent on this creature being some sort of alien. if you read the article from the paper, it is an exact copy of john f kennedys speech on the limited test ban treaty. just because the trailer mentions area 51 doesn't immediately make this something from outer space. if you read/listen to the entire speech, at one point he says theres a ban on testing nuclear radiation everywhere except for underground which might be some sort of explanation to the whole "no certainty if a live may be after us we go underground"

just a thought

I think the inclusion of Dan Morris, Capt Cooper and the whole space theme that we've seen so far is what's adding to people's belief that we're dealing with something Alien in nature.

I'm still playing a around with the two newspaper pages.

Perhaps it was already told here, but at the speech page, there is in opper left corner "olve...wise"... Which could be a hint "Solve wisely" or so.
Perhaps we haven't got all the clues hiding in these both sites.

We have at the moment:
* the "underground" message
* the mailbox

But, again, what about Sookie & Sm(ith?)? Do we have to find a pet who could be a new hint?

What about "Traffic lights"? (I'm thinking about trailer reading "traffic lights".)

What about Gardens and pedestrian crosswalks (again, "Crossing")?

Do we really have everyhing coded in that message?

Think about Wired, edited by JJ Abrams - they had tons of hidden messages...

Step towards
Step towards

I was reading the article carefully when i noticed a major change in language. STEP TOWARDS is all over the 2nd page. Repetition, something that just stands out only if you read it

I don't see a change in writing style at all. I just see someone using a phrase in a very expected way in a speech.

These are the only instances I can find:

"But it is an important first step -- a step towards peace -- a step towards reason -- a step away from war"

and

"Second, this treaty can be a step towards freeing the world from...."

I think it's just speech-talk and a way to get the audience thinking positively. Plus we have to remember that this speech was not written by Super8-folk, so it would be tough to encode any secret messages that weren't as obvious as the blacked-out lines and the X's.

Sending my maze and coupon tomorrow. For my astronaut name, I just Googled astronaut titles, and just put Mission Specialist [My Name]. Hope something comes back soon...

Does anyone remember Rocket Pops? Those red white and blue rocket shaped popsicles from the old Good Humor Man trucks. Do they still have them?

Mail Ins

New to this and throwing in my two cents.....I would agree with early posts that they would wait for a stockpile of maze mail ins before opening the poppeteers website. Which means if you havent yet sent one in...DO SO!! Also in agreement with those that think that the names will be used to access the site....

Also as far as the newspaper clippings go...has anyone tried folding the two x's toward one another to see if anything lines up or any images surface by doing so...I know that they lined the two newspapers up using the x's but maybe folding them somehow will accomplish something???

Just thoughts in my head.....and now its empty again... Confused

 Cooper Quote

Anybody else catch the quote attributed to Cooper on Wikipedia?

"Who's the best pilot y'ever saw?"

'Ever saw' isn't in my vernacular, between that and this stuff about Cooper saying Nasa was doing test on gifted kids. (ahem ahem FRINGE)

I get the sense that this might be a guy who JJ has spent significant time researching, that and super 8 the old format plus the oldish train. I think we're going to see a film that stars Cooper.

That's not what he/she was asking. They said they knew the newspapers were lined up to get the message, but they were wondering if folding the pages would accomplish anything.

I think we've talked about this before, but the moon on the Rocket Poppeteers logo looks a lot like a solar eclipse. Maybe we'll get movement on that site at the next solar eclipse? According to the NASA eclipse guide, there is one on July 11, but it won't be visible in the U.S.

Since we've dated the newspaper to circa 1963, I checked those eclipses and found that there was a total solar eclipse on July 20, 1963...it was only visible in part of the U.S. (Maine).

I don't know if it has anything to do with anything...but that moon really looks like an eclipse to me. Confused
