In the last game there were a number of messages decoded in the messages from Therius and other characters. For example, sometimes a letter would be missing or replaced with a number - when collated they spelled messages. Just something to bear in mind - images are very much a new element for this PM, really interesting!
Btw, the jumbled up letters in those images spell "THERIUS".

I played around in Photoshop with the channel mixer and found that there might be a phrase near the bottom. To me it looks like "I can keep a secret" -- what do you all think?
Looks right! I wonder if the other letters strewn about have a meaning as well.

Good catch on that one! Not sure about anyone else, but I was so focused on looking into the image that I completely disregarded the actual image.
Edit: I guess I shall try my hand at the emailing as well.

Nice catch you guys. I just got another mail this morning (or actually it was sent last night but didn't check my mail until just now). Should I automatically forward mails from sheoulSPLAT mail.com to another player so it's not just me getting these things? PM me your address and I'll set up a filter to do auto-forwards.

can you keep a secret?
The image "gathharos.jpg" was attached.
The word Shaggaroth may refer to a previous character (another bhuta like Sheoul) from the initial game: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=696743#696743
"gathharos" is a close anagram for "Shaggaroth", but I have no idea what the rest of the image could mean.
It looks like from the subject of this email we are looking for another @mail.com address to contact.
(EDIT: I can confirm that the mail address is NOT "therius@mail.com" -- got an error delivery response from it.
EDIT #2: same with "shaggaroth@mail.com" "gathharos@mail.com" and "shaggarosth@mail.com")

Emailed him, and part of the reply was:
Quote:
Can you keep a secret, usho?
And the second email, the reply was this:
https://mail.google.com/mail/?ui=2&ik=d868adc999&view=att&th=128aa4ee9c9c1073&attid=0.1&disp=inline&zw
(The first email was in English, the second was in his language.)

I don't know but this link doesn't work for me?
EDIT: It occurred to me that maybe the email could be "icankeepasecret@mail.com" -- I've sent an email off and it looks like it went through, but it could be wrong.

Posse, it was the image posted by you.
Also, does "the hidden path" ring any bells? Sheoul wants me to keep a secret, so this I will do.
I have a part to find the path, but I cannot find it without the help of this other guy, and he cannot find it without the help of me.

Hidden path, hmm... maybe a hidden URL? Nothing from the first game that I can recall mentioning a path.

I also got a load of 3s, 1s and 0s. I tried removing all of the 3s and converting Binary > Ascii, but it was malformed binary.

It would be helpful to know what you're talking about?

Sorry, I promised Sheoul I'd keep it a secret. When I get a reply from his email, maybe I'll post then.

Hmm well based on your mentioning of 3's 1's and 0's I can only guess that he's sent you a list of numbers. While I haven't seen the puzzle my experience tells me that it's probably a message in binary-ascii that is encoded in hex-ascii.
It pains me NOT to know what the puzzle is (and I love solving puzzles!) but this website is helpful:
http://home2.paulschou.net/tools/xlate/
Copy-paste your puzzle in the hex box first, press decode.
Then copy the text in the text box (should be 0's and 1's) and paste them in the binary box, then press decode again. The answer, if I'm right, should appear in the text box.
That is merely a guess. I would LOVE to know what the puzzle is, and as far as I'm concerned the forums are OOG but we'll see where this game goes from here I suppose.

I had to do this:
Hex - Binary - Binary - Ascii
And then I got this:
Quote:
Sheoul loved number games. Didn't he?

Hahaha! He sure did.
Yeah BTW a number of Sheoul's puzzles from the previous game involved layered number puzzles that involved hex/octal/decimal/binary. For a good octal converter in the future (if we need it), this is a good site:

Recap so far I'd like to recap of what's happened so far.
I received emails from sheoulSPLAT mail.com, some in broken English and others in PhaeShull. Most of the emails (except one) had images attached.
After replying to sheoulSPLAT mail.com, it seems that the person using the account is NOT Sheoul from the previous game. Instead, this currently-unnamed entity apparently knows Sheoul, or somehow has gained access to Sheoul's "memories" (the images from the emails).
The emails seem to mention Shaggaroth and Therius. These characters: Sheoul, Therius, Shaggaroth -- were all mentioned in the previous game. In the previous game, we were taught to "tune" by sending emails to an account in order to help wake up the King. While certain characters were thought to be malicious, it turned out to be a ruse in order to get us humans to help. Sheoul's "confession" of the true events from the previous game is here:
http://the3ntie7ruth0f1t4ll.webs.com/apps/blog/entries/show/3446213-vaelfhn-usho-
If this is a sequel, I suppose we can assume the events in the previous game took place. However, I'm guessing things did not turn out as Sheoul thought. Most likely something went wrong.
It seems like Therius (who, other than posting the trailhead, did not really play a big role in the last game) has taken away Sheoul. Reminds me of the previous game a lot when Marcus and Arthur were both "taken." And now James is talking about a "hidden path" we must find and another person who maybe needs our help or can help us, not sure about this part.
So here's what I'd like to find out:
1) What happened to Sheoul at the end of the previous game?
2) How do we save Sheoul (if he needs saving)?
3) Who is this mysterious entity we are speaking to?
4) Is there anything else in the images that we might have missed?
5) Who is this other guy mentioned in regards to a hidden path?
I probably missed stuff so feel free to fill in stuff I forgot.

icankeepasecret@mail.com It worked! I sent a "hello/are you there?" email to icankeepasecretSPLAT mail.com and got a response back:

Maybe you can keep a secret.
I know what you are all doing adn im sure its fine. You still haven't solved the portal clue yet.
Remember. Some things go over others. Maybe you're reading it wrong. Or writing?
webs.com
I refuse to speak to any of you until you find the clue and move down the path. Prove your worth.
Looks like we still need to dig deeper in the portals.jpg and see what we're missing? Most likely we need to find a URL similar to the webs.com ones from the last game?
