You mean the mystery is solved? It was for treyarch's game all along?

Any fan of the COD series could have told you that about 30 pages ago. That's why USB drives were sent to codzombes.com and people involved with COD in general...

what i'm saying is the fun is now gone for me as there is a direct link. and no, i am a fan of the cod series...before MW2. I won't go into details there, but basically, i'm not excited for this one...if somebody puts it on sale i might buy it...but only because it's treyarch and not IW, and only if my clan has enough people that will play it. I was having fun with the transmissions and the clues and everyone jumping in to solve them, but now that there's a DIRECT merging of clues...well...that's that, good job everyone on uF...what else is there to prove? lol

That was in the trailer. So if there was ANY doubt about trey having anything to do with gknova...dismissed. However I haven't seen any proof of a zombies game mode.

I think the top of that document says THE NOVA PROJECT. That document might be the summary of GKNOVA6.

ARG's aren't about proving anything, in fact most of the time you know what the game is promoting before you even play it (Super 8? Cloverfield?).

It's simply about solving puzzles and having fun with a community of like-minded people. Sometimes it gets better and you get to interact with the characters (A true ARG), most of the time it doesn't.

Anyway, I'm a little more excited about this than I was before.

I agree there, that's why i said i was having fun during the clue finding and transmissions and i was hoping for a little more of this:

i just hoped for a better connection than just sortof hinting at this in the actual game's trailer. I was just dissapointed in the way they did it...i mean we had nothing for a long time, then just end it with a mini clue in that trailer...plus i am completely dissapointed in the graphics for the trailer. i mean how long has dx10 been out now? 4 years? nobody tell COD devs because apparently it's a secret hahaha

Are you kidding me? The graphics looked great. Unless you were watching some kids download/re-upload to youtube video or something..the official trailer in-game stuff looks incredibly crisp, just like how MW2 was compared to cod4/5.

The drop was missed because the time and location were not clear.
I urge you to reattempt the drop.

The "Package" could well relate to the spoilers in the new vid but calling the character Giovani rather than Giovan says this is fake to me.

Based on the new vid we get all the confirmation we need for the main COD BO plot line as detailed in the GKNOVA clues:

Space Race
Cuba/Nukes
Vietnam
JFK/Lee Harvey Oswald

which probably means this has nothing to do with the sub game ( Nazi Zombies) and is purley around filling the plot for the main campaign missions.

CODMW2 got a massive amount of publicity for the "play as a terrorist" level so I'm almost sure this will feature an equivalent, either in terms of you assasinating Kennedy or trying to prevent it ( probs the former).

It appears that our gamejack learned a few new things or someone legit just made a typo, intentional or unintentional.
but it does seem they were oblivious to what happened

could well be a typo...everything so far has been fairly accurate, clear and consistent though.... an intentional typo would be out of sorts and a unintentional one would be just plain sloppy.

Well... I have to say that this is very disappointing. Not a very well thought out "ARG". Someone sat back, made some flash animations, encoded some text, made some fake documents and said, "That'll do". There was no story here. Just a string of clues that took you to a picture of a room with lots of electronics and some guy breathing heavy. Very anticlimactic.

I'm not a huge COD fan. I only have ever played one of them. I just don't think that this was a good vehicle to promote the game. Me being a fence sitter, it hasn't made me any more willing to spend my money on the game. That should be the goal of any promotion for anything. You'll always get the fans of a series of products to buy the new one.

I'm still puzzled at the timing of this whole thing. This would have been a better exercise had it occurred in October or even September.

I guess I'm more puzzled about the whole point of this. There doesn't seem to be one. Once again, no story. What were they trying to accomplish?

Has this exercise done anything for anyone that has participated? Has gknova6.com made anyone more apt to purchase this game?

To attract people to the project. Arguably, they did that, but that attraction doesn't look like it will improve their sales. They haven't done anything to retain their audience.

I somehow think, or at least want to think, that this isn't over yet.

I agree. However, with super 8, the new tim kring ARG (which looks amazing by the way), and DayXExists this is getting pushed to a distant 4th.

Or, has anything involved with this been fun other than cracking puzzles with great people here in uF? IMO, No! Towards the end here there were really only two parties who were following this thing closely and the only motivations were the following; attemtping to enjoy an arg (seemingly in vain) or trying to prove to others what it was about (with what almost felt like personal vendettas). Had I not found uF, I'd have wanted little to do with this "arg" 'cause it was the people who made it fun for me personally. Now, I may just head to something else....Super 8 maybe? Been lurkin there for a while anyway...

Anyhoooo, I'm right there with shtaffa and even somewhat with Boba on this. Aside from the REAL reasons I've enjoyed this; to have fun with like-minded individuals & to solve puzzles with a team, what in the world was the point of this thing? The "reveal" is a document familiar to us "participants" that flashes by in a game trailer, w t h? I'm glad the COD guys aren't gonna be disappointed now but what about everyone else who was incited by this time-waster? It wasn't just sent to COD fans, it was sent all over the world to various media outlets. ALL of which lost interest in the backswing. This is my first time actively participating in an ARG but I refuse to let this redundant, story-less, super-dull first impression get me down, I've simply enjoyed the company here at uF too much to stop now. I'm gonna cut this rant "short" by saying this was poorly executed, hasn't really marketed the game to anyone other than those who are gonna buy it anyway and only served to frustrate those who were faithful enough to see it through.
This thing STILL didn't get categorized here at uF and we're over here scratching our heads saying "wth was that?" While the codz guys or whatever are just chompin at the bit to go tell the world "SEE TOLD YA SO!" What the hell kinda rewards are those lol?

The rest of the world who lost interest at transmission 1 is gonna say, "I see, the 'mysterious USB drive' was for Call of Duty Black Ops.... interesting. I didn't really care anyway 'cause Call of Duty has a dedicated audience that likes it for the style of gameplay, not 'story content' (or lack thereof)."

My question is, how many arg's have there been for game or movie franchises that are independent of one another in "story"? When there even is any for that matter. Portal 2; story continued from Portal 1 (may even connect directly with Black Mesa). ILOVEBEES; Halo has uniform story throughout entire franchise, etc etc...

Anyway, I'll probably keep following this as unhappy as I am 'cause I want to find out why this guy's sitting in the room seeing red lol.....

so it's probably good i took a break in the middle of working on the note analysis...and posted what i had so far...because then all of this happened at the same time haha.

I guess I've calmed down a bit. If they do more with the ARG I'll probably try to stay involved, because you guys at uF are cool and fun to work on things with. It's just very hard for me not to rant about graphics. I spent alot on my computer, and i expect a couple simple things before all the more difficult dedi-type issues: better graphics than consoles, and 10$ lower price for games because they don't have the liscensing issues consoles have. Keeping the PC version at DX9 just looks feels cheap to me. yes, those cod devs have done amazing things with DX9 that 6 years ago i wouldn't have thought possible. but 4 years ago? yes. it looks almost identical to MW2 graphics. which look almost identical to cod4 graphics (which were amazing...in 07). I'm not saying it looks terrible. I'm saying it looks old.

if you look at a 1960 corvette, you say "wow, that's a beautiful old car" or "they don't make them like that anymore." but if you put it on a drag strip with a 2010 ZR1 corvette and it's 638HP...you know what car is going to be faster and more exilerating to drive. I'm sorry, I will try to ignore any "arguments" to my point of view from here on out as this is not the place to waste a bunch of time ranting about video game graphics or the future of PC gaming.

This is a place for the ARG and I will try to focus on that aspect instead of getting cought up in the things I no longer like about COD. I was a huge cod4 fan...and things just havn't gone anywhere from there in my opinion. I liked cod5, but it just didn't have the edge and "new amazing" feeling that cod4 did. MW2 was a steaming pile and i'll discuss it no further.

Carry on ARG-ers, because your commitment and efforts on these things amaze me. I just thought I would explain my attitued since the trailer. Sad
