Isn't this dependent on what hemisphere the observer is on? i.e. The moon looks "upside down" to us northerners, if we're standing on the southern hemisphere.

I apologize in advance if this has been noticed already but when you google map the po box and than head east from the field to the nearest streetview road, 2nd st SW, there is a Smile face in the road (must be in the northbound lane). This is probably nothing but seems almost too much of a random coincidence.

Welcome aboard!

As far as the smiley face goes, I'm doubting it is more than a coincidence. Google is very slow at updating the photos on Google Earth/Maps. Heck, I have been working at my current job for over 2 years and the building I work in still isn't visible on either. Just to put that in perspective, the building is about 5 years old now... Confused

That said, I imagine Google would jump at the chance to help J. J. out, but I still doubt it's more than random (and weird) coincidence.

No, the moon appears the same to everyone on the planet.
To picturize (?) it: The capital O is earth, the minor o is the moon:
O o
Doesn't matter where you are, it's the same.
Star constellations look different wether you're on North or South HP, though.

Don't agree to you... O is earth and e is moon (because of the craters)
O e
its not the same when you are on the northern hemisphere like when you're on the southern one

Edit: Just IMO. I could be wrong

I stand corrected. You guys are right. It is, then, in fact upside down.

Edit: you are right. Just checked on Wiki.

I can't believe we're having this argument. Everything in the sky, no matter where you are on the planet, looks exactly the same (except for shadows, especially something like an eclipse) if you're facing the same way. Spin 180 degrees, the sky is now 'upside down'

The moon rotates so that the same side is always facing the earth. Therefore, it cannot be upside down.

It actually is not really upside down but it appeares to be, by the different perspective one has when looking at it from N or S HP. You may wanna check Wiki. I thought the same way as you, but... you always learn new things Smile.
