Chico worked for Totally Twisted since shortly after their inception. Back at
the time of Dead Horror, Totally Twisted didn't have the budget to do separate
websites for each proposed or in-production show. Instead they made sub-domains
for each show. But even so, Dead Horror was an exception to their normal routine
and the pre-show information and hype was fairly minimal. Totally Twisted
executives explained it away by saying that the reality TV market was so
competitive that they were worried about someone stealing their concept before
they could produce the show. The entire pre-show process for Dead Horror was
more discreet and secretive than usual.

Since he was pretty much in charge of the University
Hijinx areas, he placed a couple of hidden things in there in various spots, in
hopes others might find them at some point. One of them was re-writing the
auto-responder

SO, two things to notice:

1} The auto responder is not the only thing he messed with to help us on Urban hunt.

2} Maybe dread house or house of dread has a subdomain page someplace. it's possible it doesn't, since it was "different"... but still worth thinking about

Next, even though he couldn't open the
directories he had previously found (it was some kind of encrypted file that asked for a password every time he did), he copied them onto a couple of discs, in hopes of fooling around with them later and figuring out the passwords required. He labeled the three discs "Webmaster Tools", in case anyone saw them or tried to stop him when he was leaving. While he was doing this, his phone was ringing but he ignored it, afraid it was his higher-ups, calling him into another meeting about what he had done.

THIRD THING TO NOTE: ed doesn't have the passwords, he never saw what was on these files...... We might as well stop asking ed/amanda for them. HOWEVER, this also means he might want to see the files. question i now have: has anyone sent ed the files we found?[/EDIT]

Not sure if it's worth noting, but the story mentions that the Dread House project was filmed first in a different location than Cambridege Mental Hospital.

"In late 2002/early 2003, the planning and recruiting completed, the Dead Horror show supposedly began production at the Clydesville Mounted Horses facility in Manitoba, which they had rented for a period of two months."

It's interesting that the initials of both locations are CMH.

I believe those are just code words.

That's along the same lines as changing the name of the company and the main character. He's using that location as a substitute for Cambridge (also note the use of Manitoba instead of Minnesota). It did take place at Cambridge.

I agree with Nog....these Amanda/Ed email puzzles belong in puzzles I think. Can't we post the emails here and then move the discussion to puzzles? It's just less messy to go to the puzzle section to work on puzzles. Plus when there are new posts in the puzzle section it causes excitement Very Happy

Ask, and when I'm online, yee shall receive. Shadow topic left in the Interaction section, but when selected, will re-direct to here, the puzzle section.

Great solving, JustLurking, how about you register and then we can give you the proper accolades and pats on the back.

/me tried /poorhouse.htm & /poorhouse.html, and /iforgot.htm, /iforgot.html since those were the only names "quoted" - figured they were the actual titles and not the code words (since the coded words were never put into "quotes"). All were misses.

Code for Cambridge Mental Hospital in Minnesota.

I should point out that the email specificially said that they created sub-domains for each show. A sub-domain of their site would be something like http://poorhouse.tomorrowstalk.com.

Chico = "The Man"

I totally missed this reference until now...Thankee, Kona - for some reason this strikes me as about the funniest thing I've read for a while.

OK, well my previous thoughts that amanda/ed hid other things on UH website {based on the comment in the caterpillar email about hiding multiple things}, and so we should be looking for them, is not worth the effort. After being flustered at my inability to find ANYTHING on UH, i emailed Amanda the following:

Quote:
SUBJECT: We're All Mad Here

`Come, we shall have some fun now!' thought Alice. `I'm glad they've begun asking riddles.--I believe I can guess that,' she added aloud.

`Do you mean that you think you can find out the answer to it?' said the March Hare.

`Exactly so,' said Alice.

`Then you should say what you mean,' the March Hare went on.

`I do,' Alice hastily replied; `at least--at least I mean what I say--that's the same thing, you know.'

`Not the same thing a bit!' said the Hatter. `You might just as well say that "I see what I eat" is the same thing as "I eat what I see"!'

`You might just as well say,' added the March Hare, `that "I like what I get" is the same thing as "I get what I like"!'

`You might just as well say,' added the Dormouse, who seemed to be talking in his sleep, `that "I breathe when I sleep" is the same thing as "I sleep when I breathe"!'

`It is the same thing with you,' said the Hatter, and here the conversation dropped, and the party sat silent for a minute, while Alice thought over all she could remember about ravens and writing-desks, which wasn't much.

AMANDA - I enjoyed the story you sent very much. I'm lost however, on one issue. Chico hid multiple things, it said... But aside from the e-mail, I don't know where Chico would hide anything else. Humor me, will you, and tell me where you think those things would be?

t.r.

Many of you may have already noticed "we're all mad here" is what the cheshire cat says to alice before she goes to the mad hatter's teaparty. Many of you may also have noticed my rather large excerpt from Alice in Wonderland, the tea party scene. I was basically saying "yes we love the riddles... but say what you mean, and mean what you say..." I'm not sure if that was lost on Him/Her... but in her reply, unlike when she usually adds the entire text of your last email at the end of hers, she took out the excerpt...Reply goes:

Quote:
Dear T.R.,

Hypothetically speaking of course, there's probably no way to find anything
else at this point. Perhaps our friend Chico will be able to dig something
up soon.

Sincerely,
Amanda Graves
