Alabamian Beekeepers?

Greetings and salutations everyone. Been browsing the sites for a good while now, but i haven't thought of getting involved until recently; primarily due to my noticing that all the axons in Alabama have been consistantly neglected. I'm certainly glad to (possibly) be able to contribute, even if in a small way!

Of the Fable list, the coords near Dothan (9:47PDT 31.217259 -85.360847) seem manageable enough for me to travel to. Very Happy Going to go check this one on saturn's day (ie: tomorrow) to see if i can get it hot. I'm just glad to see that there's at least one axon within 2 hrs driving time from my home.

I'll try to take pictures and such. Wish me luck gentle beings.
__
PS: Due to the apparent lack of alabamian beekeepers, i'll not request that an AL axon page be made just for myself, lol... thus, i'll make my posts about AL in the Georgians' area.

Oh, another note though: i might be willing to drive even further for some of the other Alabamian axons, if folks could check online to make sure those coordinates actually have phones active nearby. Very Happy I can't remember the website to check for payphone listings? I wouldn't want to drive all that way, just to have no luck finding the phone, or have the phone be cold.

Welcome aboard.

The pay-phone site that is used most often is http://www.payphone-directory.org/, but a lot of the confirmed GA locations are not on there. Unfortunately I don't know of a way to be sure other then actually going to the location.

Thanks for helping out, and any location you can get to is appreciated.

Thanks for the kind welcome Vortech. I'm glad to be a part of this ^_^

I found the axon, it's right in front of a McDonalds... by next to the bypass loop in Dothan. (Ross Clark Circle, 1081 is the address i believe. if anyone's interested anyhow)
Unfortunately, due to the rain and road noise, i could barely decipher Melissa's questions/comments, and it seems i've failed to access the axon. -_- At least i found the dratted thing though, and i'll give it another shot tomorrow (sunday) if it's still up. It's about a 4 hour round trip, but i'm too annoyed by my failure to give up! lol.

Also on the plus side, there's a great BBQ place just across the street (Larry's Barbeque), and the phone rings about lunch time. Hehe ^_~

Peace and connectivity to you all,
~J

Good to hear that Dothan will be nailed down tomorrow. I assume you mean the 9:43...

We're sending an expedition out to Round Hill as well, so if we both hit, winner gets unlocked.

Hey, don't feel bad. I drove out to MoGA yesterday but due to an accident on the highway I missed the first two calls and the third never rang. (BTW, I thought Genie said that the last call came in on the first floor.) Even hunters who have done this a bunch mess up. Thanks a ton for making that time sacrifice.

Yay, Winner es Enhottenated

And said sacrifice so turned out to pay off!
Laughing Yatta!

In any case, it was rather nifty being the 4'th or 5'th person to ever hear the "Winningf" wav, but it's even better knowing everyone can hear Jersey spying on Jan again. Very Happy I asked melissa to repeat it 4 times for me, lol.

If another axon gets placed in the dothan area, you can bet your bobbysocks that i'll be there. *gives a huge thumbs up to everyone, and administers 'high-fives' to Vortech and Mike-was*

That was so very muchly cool.

Speaking of which, Genie, were all of the calls not to the same phone? Were you the one that got the axon hot at 11:37 PDT?

Yes, I got the 1137 call with JT Taylor. Not all the calls rang on the phone we used in round 2... So, me being alone, waited 1 minute after scheduled time, then went to check the other bank of phones.

Weird thing... no other phones ever rang, so I camped the lower left (round 2) phone for the 1137. By this time JT had shown up and was helping cover the opposite bank. We answered the 1137 call... and at 1141, the phone to the right rang. JT picked it up and said it was the Operator... very strange, considering that the 1141 call was scheduled quite some distance from us. He answered the passcode, but apparently it didn't work, as the Operator looped the "ilovebees" track for ~30 seconds and then disconnected.

There were several patrons of the Mall who used the phone to the right of the axon phone... the one on the right next to the vending machines. Since it rang at 1141 PDT... I think this could possibly be another axon phone. Also, one more note... The only payphone with a loud, discernable ringer is the center phone on the left side of entrance (confirmed axon phone). The others use an electronic warbling ring in varying stages of loudness. I will make sure to keep my ears open a little further on these axons in case the axon has expanded to the entire bank of phones.

Ok... I will be at the lower bank of MoGA on Tuesday. This is the perfect time for me, since I work overnight... I should be able to get all the calls and still get enough sleep before my shift. Looks like we have a full plate for all the axons this week! Good luck everyone, and if you need to contact me, just check my profile and send me a message.

It was actually the payphone in the McDonalds parking lot, between McD's and the bank next door, next to the street.

That area looks familiar... If it's where I think it is, there is a place called "Rocco's Pub" nearby. Some of the best chili in the state! They win awards at competitions. It's also the monthly meeting place for the regional branch of the national motorcycle group I belong to. If that axon comes up again, you should stop by and get a bowl of chili... mmm mmmm good!

LOL enough rambling...

High-fives all around.

Read the Round Hill report (and pictures, and soon, video of our road trip) in the DC Axon thread.

MoGA now at 60% complete for this round!

Hey all --

I batted 3 for 5 today.

The 0755 *alaska* call came in on the center phone at MoGA Food Court. Answer to passcode challenge was "Green(e)".

Here's a rough transcript of *alaska*:

Story arc: Jersey Morelli/Durga
Wind-up: None
Wind-down: None
Characters: Jersey, Durga, IRS Auditor "George Shabura (?)"
Background Noise: None discernable

GS: Your records seem haphazard... As I must say (unintelligible)....
J: Huh?
(IRS Auditor keeps talking in background)
D: Let's see... George Shabura, IRS Auditor, 9th year. In his records, he is described as ' Punctual, Precise, Efficient, Arrogant, and Not Polite'. He was going to be promoted next month....
J: Huh?!
GS: Excuse me, Mr. Morelli?
J: Nothing.
D: Now, he's taking a pay cut... And a job rotation.
J: (grunts)
D: ... to Alaska.
(end of file)

The 0809 call did not ring at the established axon location.
The 0811 call came in, this time on the right-hand phone in established bank of phones.
The 0821 call did not ring at the established axon location.
The 0823 call came in, this time on the left-hand phone in established bank of phones.

Here's a rough transcript of *big_gloves*:

Story arc: Jersey Morelli/Durga
Wind-up: None
Wind-down: Short
Characters: Jersey, IRS Auditor "George Shabura (?)", Policeman, female EPA Officer, female Animal Control Officer.
Background Noise: None discernable; sound effects only.

Cop: Stand with your hands out away from your sides!
J: I'm being arrested for counterfeiting?!
Cop: Counterfeiting? Not counterfeiting! Assault! We've got a warrant out, Armed and Dangerous!
J: It was supposed to be a simple audit...
GS: You're being arrested for assault? Fine, but I get him for counterfeiting...
EPA: Environmental Protection Agency, everyone vacate the premises immediately!
Cop: Freeze! Down on the ground!
IRS: Enough of that already...
EPA: What?! I got a call that there was a hazardous chemical spill here...
J: EPA?!
Cop: Nobody's going anywhere until I secure the suspect!
IRS: What the - why the big gloves?
ACO: Animal Control. Which one of you lowlifes is responsible for the illegal-trading-of-wild-honey-badgers-scheme gone terribly, terribly wrong?
J: I don't even own a dog...
(alarm sounds loudly in background)
(sound of overhead fire sprinklers going off, sound of persons in room panicking)
J: Fire Sprinklers?!
(short wind-down)

Hope this all helps. Keep those axons lighting up!

I will post the transcript in the content forum when one becomes available.

With there being two missing there, and there being two right upstairs at that lat/long I would hope that the two missing calls were upstairs. Unfortunately today we learned a lot of lessons at the Perimeter mall. One of them was that any phone with the address of the mall is fair game. With that in mind I uploaded a MoGA map that shows another pay phone I found this weekend.

The Perimeter Mall axons:

Three of the phones rang and were answered (thanks to KaptainKlank's friend for getting there before I could.). There are a lot of phones besides the 5 in that group though. 15 more with the mall's address to be exact. They are all now on the Axon directory on the first page.

If anyone wants to help us pick up the missing two tomorrow please come. we need at least 4 people to cover all the newly found phones.

Also, I have learned that you should not use the elevator by phones 1-5. It can get stuck. . .

I'll post transcripts (best I can hear) from so_dense and Hard_bargain in the main thread later tonight.

Greetings and salutations once more. ^_^
Took care of the first axon listed on Ballet.
I noticed it was the same on in Dothan; i also took note of the fact that the other two AL axons on the previous list are no longer there. In their place is a single axon in Mobile, AL..... right in the path of Ivan. I don't think i'll be getting that one, lol.

In any case, i don't know if anyone else has done a transcript of Ballet, but it looks like it's nearly unlocked anyhow.

Congrats on your successes as well my fellow beekeepers!
Man, i've been wanting to say that one for awhile ^_~
~J

Edit:
PS: I can't remember exactly the transcript of Ballet, but i'm rather sure it comes just after, or rather soon after Mr_Congeniality. Seemingly, it has to do with Jan "tangling" with the mugger/rapist in the alley.
Edit again:
PPS: i just read one of Mike_Was's posts. http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=6387&postdays=0&postorder=asc&start=75 I've determined that Ballet comes just after Big_Dog. Thanks for the accurate transcript Mike! Lol, wish i could remember everything now.

Jan: There's a problem with being a big dog; there's always a bigger dog.
-noise of a scuffle/physical activity-
Wormy Guy: Damn you're quick on your feet!
Jan: All those years of ballet.

Anyhow, it seems Jan has taken the Stupid Cop's words to heart.

It looks like the 7:01 PDT for Carrolton has disappeared (despite our mystery enhotener) since the killer.jpg list. I don't see it being rescheduled anytime. Bad recon, or did the SP tip her hand?

Picked up the 2 remaining at Perimeter mall today, I'll get the midtown location tomorrow and If it is still cold pick up Perimeter 2 Friday. The two MoGA locations would open up the .wav so if that's still the case Fri I might go there instead of P2.

Just out of curiosity, which phones were they in Perimeter?

(And not to sound like an ass or anything, but it's Klak, not Klank) Smile
