[META] Story compilation website

Here is a website that has the Halo-verse story on it.

The story is made up of hidden computer terminal screens in the Marathon game by Bungie. There is also plot stuff going all the way up to Bungie's latest games.

There is also stuff about hidden messages on the games' packagings.

And even more hidden stuff in random things Bungie produced or had a hand in producing.

Marathon is NOT the HALO universe, at all.

And yet, it is.

Probably the best way I've seen the relationship between Marathon and Bungie elucidated was that Halo is the second draft of Marathon.

Halo cannot be neatly tucked anywhere into the story of Marathon, nor is the inverse true. The plot details are just incombatable. That said, the themes expressed in Marathon probably can give us some perrspective on the story for Halo.

Here you can find a list of the nods in Halo to Marathon, but really, these are easter eggs and not an evidence of a plot connection.

edit- And further thought shows that this posting in inappropiate for the thread, and it's been said a few time. Consider this a preventive measure for anyone who tries to use Marathon events as Halo cannon.

Not to sound too repetitive, there's a good list of links in the Haloverse, Wild or Otherwise spec page dealing with Halo story resources. But you're in the right place, at Bungie.org. Just don't post about bees in the forums there. Louis doesn't like that much...

Few things -

First, this should be stickied, not only to avoid trout, but also to impress upon people that an understanding of the page is important to ILB, both for backstory as well as understanding how Bungie thinks up stuff. A few of the ILB things I've seen are rehashed Marathon puzzles.

Secondly, Marathon and Halo are connected. Bungie just won't say what, specifically, the connection(s) is/are.

I swear this page has been posted before. In fact it's linked to on the Quick Ref forum. Maybe without as much explanation, but it doesn't need repeating here, surely?
