[PUZZLE] Short sound clip in would_that_help

In a new axon clip - would_that_help.wav, about 8 seconds into the clip, there's an audio replay, which doesn't seem to be noticed in the dialogue, and it happens before the little power failure (which is part of the dialogue)... I've taken that short clip and tried some stuff with it in Goldwave, but I don't think it's powerful enough to manipulate to an understandable degree...

Here are my guesses: it's either one sentence (or phrase) that starts fast and slow down, or (I favour this one) it's two at different speeds... I say the latter, because in slowing down the first portion of that clip, the pitch seems to remain the same and it sounds like someone is saying something (like "I don't suppose...highly...officer...") and the second portion of the clip sped sounds like something else ("keep looking for [cherr?]")

anyone have better expertise to analyze that clip?

I'm afraid I can't help you with the audio-modding, but if that "noise" really is a sentence or two, that could really make things interesting. Perhaps Durga wasn't just angry that Jersey said he should turn her in... maybe something started to play that she didn't want him to know and so she cut the power...

Holy Hot Axon, Batman! TheBruce, I think you're onto something here...

Listening to would_that_help again, is it just me or does it sound like Durga is receiving/playing/eavesdropping/doing something with a transmission in the beginning? I hear faint voice-like sounds in the background, then the "burble" clip, then she cuts the power! It sounds like whatever tranmission she was intercepting/receiving was, she didn't want Jersey to hear it...

... except that all that weird noise ends almost 2 seconds before the powerdown...

And, the powerdown started happening *right* before Jersey even says anything... maybe it's not Durga that causes the powerdown at all!

It sounds like the whatever she's listening to has been reversed. Maybe it's the Key_Lime/Candidate dialog?

Or it could be Jersey just listening to the TV or whatever they use in the future.

Actually on relistening to it, it seems that Durga kills the power after she thinks Jersey might turn her in to the government. She seems scared after he mentions he should give her back, so she kills the power.

But the noise happens before that part of the .wav...

Jersey mentions that "taxes paid for you" then the blurb quickly kicks in
kinda like what he says jogs her memory or something.
She then says "I don't see you giving me back to the government.

thebruce, does it sound like one voice or two?
Could it say "keep looking for sure"?

It's not reversed, that I tried, then it sounded like reversed dialogue Razz

The first fraction of a second is difficult because jersey's got his sound over what could be the first couple words, and I don't have the expertise to remove his voice... but like I said, all I could make out was what I quoted above, so I don't know if I'm on to something or not... but I swear it sounds like a voice in the first part, because the part around 'highly' is almost crystal clear as a word... but I'm not positive if it's 1 or two voices. One is at a higher pitch/faster than the other, so I can't tell by voice type, given that I have to edit the pitch in order to try to understand what's being said, so there's a margin of error there... even then, it could still be one long voice being slowed down as per the winding down drone through the whole blurb... so really, I dunno... someone with much better audio editing skills needs to play around with it...

It says something like "Tell him how you speak to me".

At least that's what I got from listening to it. I don't know how to manipulate audio though.

After reading this, I listened to it and it sounded to me like "careful how you speak to me." I could not have discerned that without TheBruce TheHulk's guess.

The voice could be Aiden, Kamal, James James, or maybe the officer from artifact, alt_burgundy, and harmony.I think we'll find out for sure when we see the transcript of a future sound file, and it's meant to be a clue that Durgan is listening in to that particular moment.

Because she's shown great interest in Kamal so far, my guess is that it's from that story arc, or possibly it's Jersey listening to someone in Janissary's story arc.

Hmm. it sounds like two voices/samples.
One sounds like "I fooled him, ha"
The other (the slower one) is definitatley ".. you speak to me"
Both sound like male voices.

In context it would be:
"Taxes paid for you"
("I fooled him, ha")
(".. you speak to me")

I originally had "Careful how you speak to me" as my guess, but I edited my post after listening to it a few more times. There is a "T" sound I hear, and in between where he says "Tell" and the word "Him", there is that winding sound that kind of blends the words together.

My thought is that Durga is in contact with Jersey's dad, and his voice is the one heard telling Durga to tell Jersey that she speaks to him as well. Just a thought.

Man, I can tweak the sound to sound like it says almost anything.
From " Brutal, how you speak to me"
To: "Durga, I highly expected that"

Did anyone notice that the voice has an English accent, or is it just me?

In _winning_ Jersey and Durga are listening in on Jan playing moons. Two clips later, in would_that_help, Durga is apparently still flipping through various sound clips. At the beginning of WTH you can hear some chipmunk-voices in the background that are apparentlt Durga searching through more tape. (Why Durga can't just random-access this stuff is a mystery to me) so the wind-down at 8 sec. is that fast-forward slowing down... probably a fast forward of the Jan James recording.
