Is it me or does that second image look like semacode?

Beautiful, almost too good.... I'll try a few permutations (Q:are we meant to read left to right or top to bottom) however it would be extremely helpful to have the frequency of the last sound if anyone could supply....

THIS IS PROBABLY TOTALLY WRONG BUT I DON'T CARE.

Okay, so I slowed down the noises without changing the pitch and I think I know what they are! Did you ever have one of those toy space guns that made stock sci-fi noises?

The slowed down tones sound almost EXACTLY like the different space effects!

ok so i follow the advice, i have Soundbooth (adobe) CS4 at work and was playing around with the sound file from unfiction. it was my first time using it but i have a lil bit of experience using adobe audition to do remixes….ok this is the process if some one else can do it too….

-open
-apply time/pitch change (slow the thing the most i can it goes at 1:15 minutes)
-apply noise reduction
-insert eq: graphic
-insert dynamics (advanced)
-remove all audio filters
-insert analog delay
-equalize volume levels
-edit metadata

ok that far i got really weird sounds and the so mentionate "noise" it became alive, it sounds more metallic and have diferent levels so maybe is not noise at all maybe something else……then i found an option that says transcript….i got gosebumps i just try it and since is a lot of sounds didnt think it will get something, i put it to transcript to English USA, and got this:

[speaker 0] the room
[speaker 1] air air all i ll
[speaker 2] the room
[speaker 4] ABA are I
[speaker 5] her room did it in them
[speaker 6] we're room
[speaker 7] heirloom
[speaker 9] that on
[speaker 10] name the minimum bid

ok i dont know what that means, or if i found something but i tho i have to post it here, and i have the mp3 file i got out of that, you cannot understand the words in there, i repeat the transcript it was made by the computer….

One thing bother me about this, i was using almost the last version of a really cool editing software that most of the people doesnt have, so put all that in the clue doenst make sense, but oh well is my piece of investigation…i dont know how to upload the mp3 tho….

Just caught up. Great job everyone so far!!! Just realized that it seems we haven't touched on the name of the folder or file yet? Could that be a clue to translating the tones?
Folder Name:
Braegen14

File Name:
expcnv.

And what if the component we are meant to mount is some sort of a frequency analyzer? Just thoughts. Smile

Semacodes

Hmm.. so far not so good. I think the semacode is an awesome call (and an awesome concept!!). Having tried neatened several permutations so far all I get is "poor matrix quality" though it is recognised (obviously) as a datamatrix which is mildly encouraging. Thoughts:

- We don't have the complete matrix, either:
A) This is the first part, and there will be others that contribute to grow the matrix (NB: If there are "additions" then they will need to be identical in size)
B) Poorly ordered matrix - Though I have tried original and inversion with and without frames in B&W
C) Is there anything similar in the trailer????
D) We're missing something in the original - So far I have an 8x10 matrix (or 10x8), and ideally would like 10x10 or other square matrix, as binarising frequency length gives us vectors of size 10

Will try going to source and downloading sonic visualiser

The file name seems to be a shortened version of "expensive"... Anyone wanna try looking up expensive devices of the 70's? That might be our device for the simulator...

I love how its such a process to play a single audio file. It's definetely a homage to the lack of technology back then and the decreased speed of computers back then. I bet JJ remembers being on computers back in the day and messing with them. I remember getting my first PC at 11 and thought it was so cool to actually save a file... Brilliant marketing...

Has anyone sped up the sound file and see if it's any different/more relevant.
It could wind up similar to the sound at the end of the trailer.
