Hey guys, check this out. I took those numbers found:1, 6, 1, 8, 1, 3, 3, 8. Then I entered them as latitudes and longitudes. At first I tried 16 degrees 18' with 13 degress 38 and ended up in Africa. So I edited it and type in 161 degrees by 8' and 133 degrees by 8' AND ended up in Anchorage, Alaska.

Now this interests me very much as I've lived in Alaska, and so I typed in Anchorage Area 51 and came up with this:

http://www.abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread493478/pg1
http://www.wired.com/dangerroom/2009/08/haarp-2/

Anchorage is home to the HAARP, a military facility whose job is to send radio signals into the Ionosphere to research COMMUNICATION via technology for radio and surveillance purposes, HOWEVER there are those who speculate something fishy goes on in the facility.

Just found this this morning, not sure if it helps but I can see how it fits.

I don't know..if we're going to talk about HAARP then we can talk about other conspiracy type stuff like the Taos hum...

To be honest..the trailer mentioned moving something from area 51 to Ohio...where the heck in Ohio would they move something to?

The Wright-Patterson AFB is near Dayton, Ohio. If you listen to the radio dialogue in the trailer, you can hear the men mention "Wright-Patt". So it's safe to presume the train was headed there.

this might help, played them all at once, minus the last one because it had the swoosh leading up to it.

Ohio is also where the 'WOW' signal from space was discovered by Jerry Ehman in 1977, he was proffessor at Ohio state university. heres an article about it an theres an audio about it, you can hear the signal on the audio a short way in, but i have no software to take it out, an slow it down. the letters that made up the signal are 6EQUJ5.

The WOW signal was just a high amplitude narrowband wave - think seeing a flashlight, not morse code. 6EQUJ5 is an encoding of the apparent signal strength (0-9 then A-Z) on a log scale. Plotted it looks roughly like the variation in sensitivity in the scope that detected it - so whatever it was it wasn't carrying complex data. It was just a high power narrow band radio wave...

The significance is we don't know where it came from; it's not a plausible data carrying event (so not like Contact or other CETI)

Wow, looks like I'm quite late to this party. Caught up to all 14 pages and here's my take:

Due to the presence of static hiss, I assume that the sound file was recorded through a microphone.

End of file sounds like something sliding open and a rush of air into the mic. Maybe from an atmospheric pressure change. Underground?

I think that this is a recording of some sound external to the device, not in-line or whatever.

Yes, this has been known since the PDP-11 file system became active.

The actual character sequence from that story is incidental, not what the signal was decoded as being. It represents a crescendo of signal strength.

We do have to wonder, is our sound supposed to be of terrestrial or celestial origin?

I still think it may be a recording of spikes in radiation (either radio waves or all frequencies) converted to a sound file. That would make the constant hiss the microwave background or something like that.
