Just ***** Confused

I'm sorry, I got the link for this forum from the ilovebees.com website, and I couldn't be more confused as to what this all is. Could anyone dumb this marketing ploy (if that is what it is) down for a simple-minded guy?
I guess all those years of playing Halo on max volume with surround sound have killed a few brain cells, which should explain to you why this is probably in the wrong forum. If it is, I apologise.

I would just like to know what ilovebees.com is, how it is affiliated with Bungie, what rogue AI is etc. Please, somebody clear this up for me, because as it stands, I am a very confused man.

EDIT: Topic for language. Smile -vpi

Apparently the ilovebees.com website is an alternate reality game based in the Halo universe.

It is currently assumed that either Bungie or Microsoft is involved with the ARG because of the ilovebees.com URL listing at the end of the Halo II trailer, but the direct connection of neither one has been substantiated as of yet.

The supposition right now is that the storyline being presented via this ARG is some sort of lead-in to the storyline of Halo II. The rogue AI (artificial intelligence, or in other words, a slef-aware and therefore sentient computer) is part of the storyline.

To be honest, there's so much to it that I'm really not sure I can do it justice. Your best bet to understanding it is probably the guide.

The short version

LGarret did a great job explaining the connection with Bungie as far as we know about it in this game. Here is my brief summary:

What ilovebees is?

The website Dana created for her Aunt Margaret was damaged and she asked for our help in sorting it out. Her blog

http://www.ilovebees.blogspot.com/

is a good trail. The sidebar to her blog gives an excellent summary as well.

http://www.thebruce.ca/ilovebees/

has all of the story and is very easy to read

But - long story short- ai from the future took over the site. One of these, called Melissa or the Operator was a communications ai on board a ship called the Apocalypso. Melissa had decrypted a Covenant transmission relating to the gassing of a planet called Troy. Anomalies in Melissa's behavior appeared possibly because of a virus included in the transmission. The Apocalypso was returning, when an unknown alien device was spotted in deep space. The device was placed in the hold.

Subsequently the Apocalypso still carrying the alien device crashed At this point, somehow Melissa, extremely damaged, appeared on ilovebees.com. A repair program called the SPDR (or the Widow) restored Melissa but destroyed much of its' memory. At the same time, Dana attempted to repair the site and caused more damage. Melissa controlling Dana's webcam took pictures which were labeled killer.jpg and added to the website. (Dana then fled to China.)

When Melissa was repaired and ready to communicate with what she thinks is her crew, another program called the Pious Flea convinced Melissa to destroy the SPDR and took control -- changing Melissa's objective from that of a soldier caught behind enemy lines "survive, evade, resist, escape" to the primary purpose of the Pious Flea which is "seek the truth, behold the truth, reveal the truth."

Melissa created numberous axons to reach her crew with the stated purpose of having us evaluate information and assess the damage she sustained. We activate the axons by answering phones and giving the proper response to a question. When the requisite number for a wave file are active, the wave file goes live on the ilovebees website.

So far we are following several stories from around the time of the crash. That is we hear wavs of future events. Durga, an ai connected to Melissa somehow, has conversations with Jersey Morelli (Jersey is like Dana in that Durga suddenly appears on his chatter), spies on a girl named Jan James at Jersey's request and spies on a medical resident named Kamal for reasons that are not yet fully known. Melissa has access to these waves through Durga.

And, last but not least, another ai we call the Sleeping Princess is also on ilovebees.com. It arrived at the same time as Melissa and has taken over the email address for Aunt Margaret. It has befriended Dana and communicates with us directly through answering emailed questions and telling us stories. Most importantly, the Sleeping Princess spies on Melissa and gives us access to waves that Melissa doesn't provide to us.

How affiliated with Bungie?
What we know for sure is that various references to Halo are contained in the story. References to Reach, ONI, the Covenant, etc.
