I've been quiet about this, but that wreckage with the letters/numbers/whatever on it never looked like a wooden pole to me. It certainly doesn't look anything like the mile markers you guys keep referring to.

It does look like an i-beam with some kind of calligraphy spray-painted onto it. So far, I don't have a clue as to the significance, but I just want to say that it really doesn't look like a mile marker. I think that theory is a dead end.

Obviously, I'm just iterating the idea as my opinion. Maybe even thinking out loud.

Seems I posted this in the wrong thread. Sorry. Embarassed

Hey, sorry if this has already been discussed, but has anyone figured out what's said on the reel behind the trailer on the site?

On super8-movie.com, if you press the "hide video", there's a reel showing some words but they're too fast for me to read. Anyone seen this?

Getting back to the pole in the trailer with the numbers on it..

Lets look at the sequence of events for a sec..

First clue..Trailer ..in the trailer we get the letters at the end which take us to scariest thing website with the computer terminal on it.

Now, while we are waiting for the thing to load all sectors, we notice a printbox behind it. it says

Stop Posting Publicly. I can answer your questions.. i have proof >>>>>

Now, the only other thing we have to deal with at this stage so far is that pole in the trailer with numbers on it..

Looking at a few explanations,

1/ the pole was already there and just happened to be in the shot when the crash happened..or
2/ someone ran up after the crash and painted these numbers there for some reason..or
3/ seeing as the numbers are written sideways on a vertical pole making it almost unreadable from a passing train at speed, they have nothing to do with anything train but are put there where the crash has happened and we are meant to see these numbers clearly as a clue..

Now, whats another name for a pole?
A post.

i have proof..

the only thing that has anything to do with this is that post that starts with 'i'...as it is the first clue we have along with the trailer before the PDP11 even loads anything ..why would they put this message there right at day 1 unless we could move on it with the available info?

I know we have tried to solve this .. and are still trying.. I may be wayyyy of base here just because there is so little to work from this early, but I cant shake this feeling that we are missing something here..

This question has been asked and answered already. I suggest checking the Bruce's Wiki for the answer with visuals: it's a standard Kodak film header:

Let's all learn to use the SEARCH function on this forum, and check the linked reference sites BEFORE asking questions... and let's all enjoy some Omega-3 goodness courtesy of our Guest!

Summer's here, let's grill the Trout today!

i21+70.64
FOUND IT

So...I just had a breakthrough with the numbers...

What if i21+70.64 was a math equation of an imaginary number that was squared?

I put it into the Applications calculator on the computer, 21+70.64 and square it.

On advance functions I hit HEX and then CD Appears

Can anyone double check this? I think this is the answer

21+70.64=91.64
Squared is 8397.8896
When you hit HEX it strips off everything after the decimal point. Doesn't round it up or down, just strips it off and converts the number to base 16 (hexadecimal).
So 8397 (base 10) = 20CD (base 16).
Your calculator is only showing 8 bits of the answer, so you get CD (base 16) which when converted back to base 10 is 205.

Hate to tell ya, but it doesn't mean diddly squat (in my estimation). Sorry!

I completely agree. It's definitely an I-Beam. It looks like part of the spray painted writing is blocked by the lower over hang of the I-Beam due to the angle the beam is resting.
