I need some help with this! It is the "original" file. No matter how I tried to upload it on any site (I even sent it through my email) I kept getting a message: "The file you have tried to upload is empty."

Or, in the case of Unforum: "Tried to upload empty file"

I was finally able to upload the audio clip, but I have no idea why the site "scariestthingieversaw" would have such feedback before entering the file path.

SERIOUSLY! ... The audio portion of the file is Un-Edited!

Anyone?

...really? Clever how the "Unedited audio" seems to fade out in the end.

He means he himself didn't alter it in any way.

James, you made the exact same post yesterday.

Do you have any findings to share from this? Morse code translating to what? The fact that it "sounds exactly like Morse code" itself doesn't mean much.

If I do a really good impression of a phone ringing, it doesn't mean I'm getting a call. Smile

The source audio file was retrieved from the decompiled flash. It's not streamed from a server, it's in the flash itself (the PDP emulator), embedded as an MP3 file - the raw mp3 file was extracted and can be downloaded from http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:Braegen14_expcnv.mp3
That's the "originalest" you're gonna get =P

ScariestThing Programmer

So, I found the username of the programmer for TheScariestThing site

I pulled the SWF and decomplied it. From the file: "debugfile: /Users/dickon/Sites/scary/source;dos/view;PrintWindow.as"

So, Dickon. Not much to go on, but it's something new at least while everyone else chews on that audio file.

Yes, I faded it out at the end.
The rest of the audio is not "bull."

Thanks for the feedback, all.

As far as recreating the audio ... I have not been able to.
Like I stated: I connected one PC with the filepath entered (but not yet executed) to this one through Line/In ... I opened SoundtrackPro - there was no audio coming through my monitors until I hit record. I was ready to hit "enter" on the PC when the distortion came through and I waited long enough before hitting enter (just to see if the sound file would also record).

Once the audio was recorded I chose "Save as" and saved it in a variety of formats: .wav, .aiff, .mp3 ... etc. Not one of the files would upload! I placed the files on a FlashDrive and it plays on all computers, once the file is saved onto any other computer the file(s) still would not upload [file empty].

The only way I could think of to upload the file, was to convert it to a .mov.
After several attempts, again all failed, I added the still shots and "save file for web." ... The first two times uploading the file failed. The third time finally worked.

I am still curious as to:
a) what is/caused the feedback/distortion?
b) does the Flash File contain other audio signatures?
c) why does "file empty" happen only on this file?
d) did I do something wrong in my method of recording?

Thanx again,

I was "strumming" along the tune with my guitar. If I use the lowest note as 0; I'd say the counting in halftones would be 1,6,1,8,0,3,3,10. Just another number Smile.

I did the same, but my last number was different (probably just tuned half a note off from yours).

I got, 1,6,1,8,0,3,3,9... The Golden Ratio...

1.6180339...

Anybody?

Do .swf files allow microphone input? I seem to remember right-clicking on a flash site and seeing options about webcams and microphones.

I am guessing the original PDP computer didn't have this feature, but what if the sounds are a password/login to be used later to gain further access.

Maybe the sound file has to be played back on a different device with a microphone plugged it and that opens up more areas???

Lurker, this is my first post!!

They do, but if a website wants to get input from your microphone, it must prompt you for permission first. So, if we ever encounter somewhere that we need to use a microphone, we'll know immediately.
