Ah, I see — apparently you can't add a poll to a thread, it must be a new creation unto itself. I think?

Agreed about joke entries, I made a couple myself. But I'm willing to start a poll if everyone's up for it. Or I'm happy to let Euchre or another mod do it.

 		I believe that the creator of the thread can add a poll to the thread at any time by editing his/her original post. It can't just be added by someone posting in the thread, though.

I would suggest starting a new thread though and tag it [POLL][OT] or something similar.

Ahh, that makes sense, Vapor. Hadn't thought of that angle.

I did a quick count and there are at least 20 "serious" name suggestions in the topic so far. That seems like a lot for one poll... and I don't even know if the forum poll will allow 20 choices... is there a limit??

What say we narrow it down — one official name submission per forum member? No guest aliases please.

I can set up the poll. PM me with your one official name entry before 6pm PT this Friday. I'll create the poll that night and voting can start this weekend.

I suggest we limit the days for voting — maybe 11:59pm PT Wednesday night? That's five-plus days of voting, seems like enough.

Chime in with suggestions and options, players.

 		In all seriousness, im not sure that i can come up with a legit name without seeing the creature first. once i see a REAL picture of it, it will be easier

Something tells me we will not get any glimpses of it before the movie is released.

BTW I just saw a very similar poll for Cloverfield was posted here a couple of years ago and is still ongoing:

I said Mr. Grumpypants as a joke but it seems to be winning the poll for Cloverfield monster name in that thread. Well we can't have two MGPs so I will definitely retract my entry.

 		i know we probably won't see it for a while, but it will be better to name (if they don't already give it a name in the movie) once i get a visual of it.

 		This proposed poll is not to name the SUPER 8 creature for all time — only to devise a short-term name we can all use for now as a common reference while discussing it.

It would be a time-saver to use while we have no official designation for "it" — and sure, a little fun as well.

For that reason, I suggest closing the poll so we have a definite — if temporary until we learn more — name.

ah, okay i got ya, i got ya, so it's just speculative. in this case, i officially nominate the name, "NTO-7"or, "Non-Terrestrial Organism 7"

Credit for this thread should go to Eleven72 as he actually created it, with a suggestion from Euchre.

Eleven72 tried to add a few of the original suggestions from before he started the thread, but I guess my post was the first in order so the board credited me as the OP.

As for a name for our "Un"-seen, "Un"-fiction friend?

What if we call him "Un" in honor of these forums and the work all you guys and girls do to decipher the clues?



Or we can call him Oprah?
