"Hey people, long time no talk. the move is done and I've finally finished getting settled in St. Rain. I started a blog so I can tell about my exploits here

http://chaosstrain.blogspot.com/ "

The email was sent by a man named "Thompson", anyone else get this email???

Sent an email or two myself.

His responses:
Quote:
Azure,
Thanks, I know its a bit boring right now, but with new things theres always room to move up.

oh And as far as getting the meds go,
I have thought about it, but I'm thinking the medicine doesn't work. every day I see the same people lining up to get the medicine, still coughing, still sick. But they still line up, and get the medicine.

Quote:
its Thompson, Its a long and complicated story. I dont feel like really going into it. Federal protection and what-not
To understand this response read the meta section below.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The bloggers profile links to an old blog which was a game they started about 2-3 years ago. The forum link is here. The PM's last post about the previous game is here. Given the effort they put into the previous game, and that they've had 2-3 years to plan this one it should be pretty good.

Oh and the character's name in the last game was Thomas Kingsley. Apparently he's in Federal Protection so had a name change?
[/meta]

I'm in.

ETA: he's on Gchat...

heh heh Chaos St. Rain, that one totally blew by my head, but I think it is supposed to be Chaos St. Rain from the first place and it also supposed to be Chaos Strain since he talks about the pharmacies always being full, could be a possible tie-in for the future

EDIT: I was also thinking, he said he would send everyone from the old game the trailhead again, it just seems funny that I posted it and I wasn't even part of the 1st game, irony

New blog post. Did some quick research and sent an email.

Quote:
Hey,

Saw your latest post and did some digging. I'm not sure if this is relevant but Zer is german for "Destruction of" and phenol is carbolic acid which is pretty dangerous stuff. The Nazi's used it to euthanize people. I found one instance of the words written as ZerPhenol in the German "Annals of Chemistry and Pharmacy".

Hope that helps,
Azure

Well they couldn't very well use a real town could they? I mean someone could call the sheriff's office and ask about the outbreak and it would be a huge mess. At least that's why I wouldn't use a real town Razz

Besides, it makes it clear it's a game...

Hey guys, just started following this game a couple of days ago and decided to make an account here to talk about it.

I noticed something interesting on the blog owner's profile page. The owner is following one blog - the Higurashi Parody Fandub blog. For those of you who may not know what Higurashi is:

Higurashi no Naku Koro Ni is a visual novel (choose-your-own-adventure style, text-based computer game) that originated in Japan. The plot rotates around a group of children who live in a backwoods town called Hinamizawa, which has a mysterious disappearance once a year which they attribute to a god they refer to as Oyashiro-sama and his curse, which was invoked when a faction of the villagers vote to break up the local dam, which would flood the town and force all the villagers to move.

Future Plot Revelations
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
However, as the story plays on, it is discovered that the disappearances have not been due to a curse, but have been murders via a parasitic disease called "Hinamizawa Syndrome," which all of the villagers are innately infected with. However, an advanced, powerful strain exists that is administered via a syringe and disguised as a vaccine. From that point on the story revolves around unraveling the scheme behind it.

While I haven't played the visual novels, I did watch the animated adaptation of the story, and while it's still early on in Chaos Strain, I have to say that the similarities are definitely there. People are mysteriously getting sick, as many of the villagers do towards the end of Higurashi. The main character of Higurashi, Keiichi, becomes extremely paranoid of his friends, just as Thompson is beginning to doubt his friends. And the town of Hinamizawa was based on an actual town in Japan, just as St. Rain could possibly be based off of Strain.

I have no idea if this information will be at all useful to the game or not. I did send him an email with a much more condensed version of what I wrote above, but I've yet to get a response.
