It's the vegetation and the dirt that looks wrong to me, particularly around the truck and train tracks. I used to live in Dayton, OH, by the way (where Wright Patt AFB is, in the suburb of Kettering).

But I've traveled all over, a lot, and that looks like either southwestern Illinois or northern Missouri to me. . .

I just don't want everyone too certain that the train wreck location is in Ohio.

Although I-70 runs right through Dayton, too...

We might take a moment to remember that this is NOT footage from the film, but rather custom-produced solely for this teaser. I think we can expect that JJ/BR/Paramount didn't ship an entire film crew and train wreck to the wilds of Ohio just to get the shrubbery right for a trailer. Smile

Regardless, where a scene is filmed has no bearing on where the action is taking place in the story. There's in-story reality, and there's movie production reality... rarely do the twain meet. Nor the too-too twain, either.

True.Plus Hollywood could film in Canada and say its Ohio if they wanted.

Has anyone tried piecing the images that flash on the screen together like a puzzle? I would do it but no longer have the software for it. I lost it all when my hard drive crashed. I was just thinking that a few of the pictures may go together and form a larger picture? They may need to be rotated or overlapped. All the images can be found here if someone has the time.

Long time ago for me too, but I was in that Delco plant more than once. Smile Would have been around '78 - '80. My dad had a business where they took rejected parts off that line and took them apart and sold the good parts back and separated the scrap. Lane Inc.

I mostly grew up in Michigan though, which I see is where you are now. What part?

My dad worked there for around 34 years or so. The only time I ever recall visiting the plant was also in the 70's and 80's for family tours. We currently live in New Baltimore, North of Detroit and South of Port Huron.

Blue Flashes as Puzzle Pieces

I was thinking that exact same thing, so after crashing my photo editor a few times, I finally resized all 31 of the images to minis and created a mosaic-type thing so I could move them around. The best I've got so far is two pieces that fit together and a third that looks like it should fit also. The following link should show you what I mean. But basically I'm at a dead end with that puzzle idea.

I also found that one of the shadow faces overlays perfectly over the screenshot of the girl's face:

Overlap images

Errrr... Just a tad(!)

View page 21 of this thread http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=29519&start=300 to save yourself some time, this has been well mooted..

Attached is the core example that still in retrospect I believe is correct (however you'll notice a few expansive examples on page 21):

This particular one refers to these images from wikibruce, which anyone who plays with will note are from the same scene but at different exposures. The overlap is pretty precise, convince yourselves if in doubt:

http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:Teaserframe-1527.jpg
http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:Teaserframe-1528.jpg
http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:Teaserframe-1530.jpg
http://super8.wikibruce.com/File:Teaserframe-1531.jpg

Rules inferred:

1) Images all the same size and orientation (this was arrived at AFTER trying the rotating option and deciding that actually there is compelling overlap to avoid this complication which further increases the complexity)
2) There are guides (like the newspaper clue) such as prominent lines/dark blobs to align the images
3) All images are probably needed (as in all the *clearly* super8 shot footage from the trailer so about 21ish images)
4) Opacity set at 50% across all images (speculative)
5) I'm beginning to doubt the validity of cleaning the images up, the messed up interference is deliberate

Be warned however, once you start looking there are soooo many options, and MILLIONS of permutations. I posted the Rocketpoppeteers picture weeks ago but can't locate it so am sticking it here as food for thought

Some speculation/questions:

- Was super8 double exposure (i.e.exposed twice in any way); my reading indicates not but am no expert. i.e. Could there be parallel inverted frames??
- These images are super8 frames, that have been hand developed. This is useful http://www.ralphdickinson.com/process_site/allpages.html
- ?Link with phi?????
- I have played as making footage from them (@8 frames per second (as fib no)), but makes no sense...
-Is there a link back to previous clues such as rocketpoppeteers.com (see attached)

It's like getting high.

I tried putting them all together as a video, played with the speeds, and then repeated them all to last a couple minutes. I might have slipped into a mini-coma or something, but it was pretty trippy. After a while I swear I saw shadow people moving across the screen. Obviously not a credible find though.

I've given up piecing them together like a puzzle, it just doesn't make sense. I like the idea of overlaying them with other things, especially the retro newspapers. Anyone else notice the half-blurred picture underneath the rocket poppeteer coupon? Says something about blooming roses or whatever. Anyway, it looks like the top left corner of the image was smudged off. I haven't had any luck matching something up, maybe someone else will. Linking an enhanced pic of it.

That would be Pareidolia then http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Pareidolia

...... Yeah I'm with you, unless there's a breakthrough or new clue, I think it's time (personally) for me to put the pictures down....

Sorry, but that one has already been discussed and nailed down to it's source:

Well, with nothing else to do, I revisited the sine wave at the beginning of the websites trailer. Nothing new but I do have a question for those more knowledgeable about this stuff than I am.

If you go here, why does it keep playing by itself?

http://www.super8-movie.com/swf/s8.swf

Never seen this while loading a video anywhere else evarrr!!! Can anyone find the origin of this thing?

Because you are loading the object (the video player) directly and without the files to instruct it where and how to stream the video, it never loads it. The buffering/loading indicator is customizable in any Flash object, and that's the one they chose for their site.
