[SPEC] fringe arg tie-in?

I've been following this arg, and have stumbled upon the arg sites for abrams other show Fringe.

In that arg, there is a website:

www.61803398874989484820458683436563811.com

This, of course, is phi. Fringe apparantly deals with the concept of phi quite frequently. This arg was played in 2008. I ran a whois on the site and yielded this:

Quote:
Created on..............: 2008-07-23.
Expires on..............: 2010-07-23.
Record last updated on..: 2010-04-27.

Why was an arg played in 2008 updated in 2010? Why was it updated at the start of this arg? Should we be investigating this, or am I too new to realize this happens frequently?

Woah! Has this 'sheep' video been linked to fringe already or is this new..

It is possible that the updated date corresponds to the shopw being renewed for another season.. but whateveritis, its cool!

Ahhh. I see now, Never mind...

The video is old content from the Fringe ARG. I don't think we can draw anything conclusive from just updating the registration records of the domain. It doesn't mean the site itself was updated on that date.

Yeah, it was those infamous Fringe ARG which wasn't there Smile
I liked it anyway, inclusive "Massive Dynamic" website. The account updates make me hope, they won't give up and will continue Fringe ARG. Which would be cool.

Godaddy has an auto-register service, which prevents a site from being taken by other registrar. All it does is register the site for a couple of years extra automatically for a small amount of money.
This isn't Godaddy of course (MarkMonitor apparently), but I wouldn't be surprised if other sites have a similar service, since it's not particularly special.

yeah i found that website a week ago and was unfamiliar with it before, when i suggested it on another site i got shot down and told it was irrellevant but the thing that gets me is the last page on that site has brail looking letters that spell out parkersburg which is on the west virginia border of ohio and when i look for it on fringepedia nothing comes up, surely if this town was important to fringe it would come up in a search!?

Yes, this is correct. I was running a site using GoDaddy for a year, and after I forgot to cancel it, the registration was automatically continued for another year. So perhaps the new year mark does mean anything but PMs wish to keep the site online (don't update, don't delete).
