We could call ourselves users I suppose, but I like the idea of setting a name aside specifically for the unfiction crowd, I like grid bugs, and to be fair, it is possible that the grid bugs were only harmful when under the control of the MCP right?! I suppose no, we dont really NEED a name, but I don't really NEED a lot of things that make me happy and don't cause anyone harm... like delicious guacamole. Mmmmm avocados..... What was I talking about again?

Looking at some other references to Flynn's game catalog, which the 'real world' folks of FL would be aware of:
Vice Squad
Kraz Bots
Proton Bombers
Intruders
Code Warriors
Astro Gunners
Digitizers
Arc Warriors

I could see the Flynn Lives operatives in the various cities around the US and world being 'chapters' and using those names and others for each one.

I'm diggin' Grid Bugs as well!

Is it Grid Bugs or just Gridbugs (one word)?

According to the wiki stuff I've been seeing (and script references) it's "gridbugs", one word.

And I hope to have some picks to kickstart some DIY fun this week.

No offense... I'll stick with the term "Operative"... not fond of the "Gridbug" name...

Just throwing in my 2˘; personally, I prefer the terms "User" or "Operative." Call me old-fasioned, but I like the homage to the original movie in the name "Users" and on the other hand, we've already be labeled "Operatives."
Don't much care for "Gridbug," but again, that's just me.

Can't wait for this ARG to start back up again. Super8 just isn't as interesting Razz

I've never been much of a joiner, but the "Cloudmakers" thing is something I'd have been proud to be a part of, had I been around for it.

That said, somehow Gridbugs/Grid Bugs feels a bit like I need a bath.

Users is a nice homage, but a bit plain (especially for people like me who work in IT and deal with them a lot). I do prefer it to the former, though.

Flynn's ARG-Aids was one that seemed to fit us better, but has 4th wall problems.

Would a Survey be apropos?

I do believe a survey is in order. We will need a way to be able to track and show the results as they come in. Also we must be logged in to vote to avoid cheating. I am not calling anyone a cheat. I just want us to avoid any accusations. We have seen the top names suggested in this thread So I suggest we place those in a multiple choice along with having a write in (Other) section for those who want an individual say that might have been over looked.
Of course there will always be someone not happy with what ever get chosen. That is just part of life and we all need to accept that rather than complain. It will be up to you as an individual to embrace what ever may win or to just simply ignore it. No complaining allowed in the end because we are all here to have fun.

On another note:

You don't need a bath.
The name is just Gridy like us. Mr. Green

....and this is a bad thing? Seriously it's a franchise that centers on a guy that gets zapped into a computer and interacts with 'people' that are somehow relevant to how the thing functions. Not high brow entertainment. Have some fun with it!

If this was the Fraggle Rock ARG, we could all be Doozers.

Unlike Fraggles, Doozers love to work all day long, and they hate playing games.

Uh, we don't like to play games? Confused

Thread to discuss names for us as Flynn Lives ARG players

So, there's been a bunch of DIY schwag ideas, so I thought I'd start a topic to throw some suggestions about what we should call ourselves. Maybe some moderator can start a poll after we get a good list?

Here are a few of my suggestions:
- Programs
- Conscripts
- Inoperative Data Pushers
- Null Units
- Video Warriors
- Grid Bugs
- (Collectively) The Reindeer Flotilla

Thoughts?

I vote Programs. At the end of Tron, Flynn says to Alan and Lora "Greetings, Programs!"
But if the majority like Gridbugs, then count me in. (It does have a nice ring to it.)
