Tron: Evolution Discussions centered around the upcoming video game I noticed there isn't a dedicated thread for the video game, besides the one that turned into a lot of infighting for some reason. If I'm wrong then, mods, merge away or delete this thread etc etc
Anyway - in the wake of E3, check out this new trailer (think I hear Bruce Boxleitner in there!): Linky

Holy $#*%!!!! Makes me want to see the movie even more now (which frankly, I didn't think was possible)! Odd how I didn't put together the mix of Matrix with Tron before. This game trailer definitely shows that, and it seems like the perfect marriage... probably to better effect than the Matrix movies themselves. What better place for a hyper-kinetic version of physics than the digital world?
Just gotta hold myself together till December... I can do it... I can do it...

They announced the 3D version would be released exclusively on the PS3.

A war is coming.
This was not by design... but YOU are.
Your mandate is to protect the system.
You will have weapons.
You will have skills.
You will have enemies...
...and, you WILL have allies.
Welcome to the grid... Program.
Also of note... check the pattern of lights on the chest of the one who was doing the fighting. Look familiar?
Edited to correct enunciation slightly.

Found some more stuff on Gametrailers - there's three gameplay videos, and an interview with the devs.
My two cents: first video makes it look like Prince Of Persia (no bad thing), the second and third both look kind of cool, but drag on for way too long, I think it needs to be a greater variety of things happening (i.e. the lightcycle scene seems to be throw disc at other bike guys, dodge recognizers, be careful of de-rezzing highways, repeat).

Some years ago as a laugh, I wrote a fanfic (don't judge me) combining the two worlds. It made sense to me since Tron fights for the users. I really did it more out of curiosity about what would happen than anything else. Glad someone else doesn't think the idea is so silly.
