Sarah, you read my mind. Cool Was wondering if we shd wait a couple of days to ask Dreamer as she with your help has been the cornerstone-Wiki-gal. Me with my wacky server are thankfully Worshippy to you both. And welcome back, Sirannon.

I had a nice chat with Claire yesterday bemoaning England's (lack of) performance in the World Cup. Very Happy

Are all of the post cards the same as the scan?

I think something is missing here. As it is, the Ogham given there doesn't really translate as we only have the top section of the letters. I suspect the ogham was written over two postcards - the other will help this message make more sense.

At the moment it reads:
u or f, a or b, o or l, o or l, r, a or b, e or s, e or s, e or s.

It's pretty clear that some letters are missing. I suspect the first word will be "fall". Anyone notice any odd lines on their card?

London people with postcards: someone suggested trying a blacklight on them, which might well be a good idea. If you don't have one, I suggest we meet this weekend or something since I do have one, and we can check it out and have some drinks in the process.

I also got the text message from O, but alas I'm moving out of London next week most likely, so I didn't really want to give my address as a long-term commitment. So this'll be my last hurrah London leaving drinks too, I guess.

I was just about to go to bed, when I passed up a pile of junk mail headed for the recycling bin when I noticed something that caught my eye. It was a post card with some sort of metal work on it, a line that cut straight through the ground, and some buildings. I turned it over and instantly saw the hex code on the top portion (which my mom thought was just post marking stuff from the machines used to sort them)

It says "In sleep a King but waking no such matter..." then "STOP THE FIFTEEN DAYS OF DARKNESS", 21/22

It was addressed to Admetus, and on top it had hex code (impartial string I'm guessing.) - 6c 72 20 gf 6c 67

on the upper right hand sice, there was a diagonal arrow pointing to the corner of the stamp with "08:49" next to it. There were some numbers half shown, but half covered by the stamp. I lifted the edges carefully, but it just seems to be the barcode for where they scan it to ring it up at a gift shop.

On the bottom left hand side, it gives information about the photo
"Royal Observatory, Greenwich courtyard depicting the Times Millennium Sculpture and the Prime Meridian Line" On the bottom right, it gives information about the copyright, concept and design of the card.

There's a blue airmair sticker "BY AIR MAIL par avion Royal Mail". I peeled that back, but found nothing under it.

I don't know how much time I'll have to dedicate to this, as I'm supposed to be starting a new job soon, but, I will get some pics of the postcard up, and I'll lurk around when I can.

So, I'm not playing, but I got a postcard today, too. I'd take pics, but I can't find the damn cable for my camera. I almost gave the postcard back to the post office because I had no idea who the Hell "Medea" was....it took me a few minutes. I haven't read any of the other thread or anything here, but this is what my postcard says:

Deep in the heart of Cupid
Murder on the heels of love

STOP THE FIFTEEN DAYS OF DARKNESS

21/22

There are also rune-looking things on the lower left corner. The postcard itself is of the Royal Observatory, Greenwich

Edit: Upon closer inspection, by the postage stamp there are two squiggly lines like:

~
~

with the numbers 11:22:32

@agent lex - alas I cannot traverse into our fair city this Saturday as I have to go and be excessively geeky in Hitchin. But I send you a psychic pint in my absence.

I, too, have received a postcard! However, my home scanner has decided to bork out (which is very frustrating as I really needed it the past couple days for work stuff)...memories of V's scanner acting up on her, heh Smile. I am going into work in a bit to see if I can get the scanner there to work for me; if I can, once I finish scanning a couple things for work I'll do my postcard, too. The front of it is a pic of Bletchley Park.

Ok, as this is a new game, do we need a new wiki for it? Should we post the postcards up on there?

LOL...your wish is my command! Here is a bare-bones spot you can start to use: http://15days.wikia.com . I am REALLY busy with work until partway through tomorrow, BUT final marks are due at 9 a.m. tomorrow (EST, or EDT...I can never remember if Daylight Saving Time is during the summer or winter), so after that I'll be more free to contribute. (Reason I'll be very busy today? Stressed out over backlog of marking that I have to incorporate into said final marks!!! But it'll all be over soon.)

ETA: Hooray, the scanner here has worked for me. I have uploaded scans of the front and back of my postcard to http://15days.wikia.com/wiki/Postcards ...click on the small image of each there to see the whole thing. If the other postcards could be recorded there, too, that would be sweet...

Blacklight sensitive

OK, finally found a dinky blacklight in Maplins today, wave it over my postcard and behold two half words writ at each end.
Right side is "WORD" (missing upper half) left side is presumably "SLEEP" missing lower half.
Not sure how to get a photo of this other than trace over the letters whilst lit.
ION my cat just puked. Urgh Sad
EDIT: Pardon crappy wiki edits, but mine and Claires postcards are up. I can't seem to get my head round the editing system.

I was trying to figure out how that (photographing a black-light-lit thing) would work, too...I will try to remember to bring my DSLR with me to work tomorrow!

Not crappy at all! I just added a line of code before each section break to make the pictures appear only in a certain section rather than carrying over, but otherwise that is fine. I find it easier to push the little "Source" button to go right to editing the code, 'cuz yeah, the WYSIWYG editor doesn't always do what I want or need it to, or makes things happen I DON'T want to.

So I'll probably lurk around a bit, but I won't be able to play much, I'm sure.

Also, I have no idea if there are any blacklight messages on mine. I'm afraid my blacklight went into the trash shortly after I graduated college and traded in my Pink Floyd posters for Kurt Halsey prints and family pictures on my walls.

New Postcard

I just received a postcard you guys...

I'm going to get it scanned in today...

I don't know if anyone mentioned or not...but the way the runes are at the top lead me to believe that we may need to align the postcards somehow to get the full effect...

I should have it in a couple of hours tops..

I'm all in on this one now Smile

Uploaded to wiki

OK, I've taken the liberty (apologies if I've stepped on anyone's toes) of popping Palaimonius' card up on the wiki and editing out the address for nutter prevention.
I think the runes up top left are Futharkian but as there is only half of them, I can't be sure of a translation UNLESS there is a direct corollation with the runes on the lower half of one of the other postcards but the only runes on the bottom of a card are Ogham so far. I'll see if any of the letters match up in a bit.
Catullus reference maybe something to do with a poet, but I'm not sure about his date ref.
The astro sign is Scorpio.
Not sure about the "corner" type markings either.
I wonder if the "five go-old...(quaver) is a direct reference to the 5th of Christmas or a more subtle clue?

I, for one, am glad you put it on the wiki. It's partially blocked because of my works web filter so I couldn't..

It is certainly my theory that the runes will match up somewhere...but I can't get at the other postcards right now to try.

The Catullus part may be from 14 - "Saturnalibus, optimo dierum!"

translates as "the Saturnalia, the best of days!"

Palaimonius card
half Futhark thoughts

I think the futhark reads "island"
First letter lower half, could be Z,W,N,A,L,I,F
Second letter most likely to be S
Third letter, again just half of a vertical line, same choice as letter one.
Forth letter vertical with diagonal line, could be R or A
Fifth letter most likely to be N
Fifth letter matches D

One crossword helper site later(*S**ND)

No joy with Ogham.

Edit: Something to do with astronomy on the cards, perhaps a date or birthchart?
