I feel like an idiot I just sent this to Jim:

"Mr. Scribbles,

Although a small qualm, I didn't receive a patch in the mail, even though I signed up before the deadline. I do understand that not EVERYONE can receive a gift, but my enthusiasm for this game had a disappointing halt. I will still play and still help Kickstart it (for the main characters patch :3), and it will not lessen my experience. I just want an 011iver patch."

So I went to go make dinner and I see today's mail with my name written a bit sloppy. I opened it to find my postcard + 011iver patch. I ran to my computer to send an "ignore my previous email I got it in the mail" email.

First piece of swag from an ARG and I am sooo excited :3

^ As a PM, I know that the USPS can vary wildly in its delivery times--especially for first-class letters. So always allow a sufficient amount of time (a week or more) before inquiring about something.

Keep in mind that, while swag is always welcomed, it should never be expected--even when others in a similar position get it. Some budgets of ARGs, especially indie ones, can be very tight, prohibiting wide dispersal of swag.

(These are my opinions; your mileage may vary).

I signed up a few days late and am overseas, so was very surprised to get a postcard and robot patch in the mail today.

My first active participation in an ARG and my first swag! Consider me hooked. Sock avatar, here I come!

Got a reply re: Velcro socks last night:

Quote:
Absolutely!

We have a winner. Sock'nLock... I was a world class Sock'nLocker, back
in the day. In fact that was my nickname in high school. That is,
until I got busted for not wearing pants. Strange isn't it? The world
just hasn't caught up to Timmy Time yet, ya know?

Also, an update on Kickstarter. Mr. Barnsworth calls it the Socks, Inc. blog.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The main character's name is Gary. Smile

I have visions of a sock puppet music video to The Guild's "Do You Want to Date My Avatar". ^_^

Very Happy Well how much cashmoneys exactly are you willing to spend? For only a $200 pledge, the game developer will make one for you!

Yay, then this mouse will get something really nifty for her pledge.

Haha, well you can't blame a guy for trying.

I'm not the most crafty person around and I'm sure that are many here that are at about my same level of creativity. I expect that a lot of the avatars will look...well not much anything like the ones in the video.

If you don't get any takers, I'm sure a clean sock and a sharpie pen are the only things you will need for a basic sock puppet avatar.

"You will receive one of the world's first taxidermically preserved sock puppets." Sounds pretty nifty indeed.
