I visited the Lucian stronghold in Russia, (via private jet) and I noticed something quite peculiar. I reviewed the recording from the micro-chip we planted on Irina and it seems that Irina had collected a sizable amount of clues. Acording to the chip, before joining the 'official' hunt for the clues, she'd already retrieved fourteen. There are no records of these findings . Do you think she is hiding something?

Bonus material for Book 8 audio book
Quote:

[cue music]
Stand by for exclusive bonus material. Listen to Cora Wizard's Nobel Prize acceptance speech.

[0:50]
[background noise]
Host: Your majesties, your royal highnesses, laureates, ladies and gentlemen. Welcome to the Nobel banquet. We are gathered here, in Stockholm, to honor the achievements of the most remarkable scientists, artists, and humanitarians of our age. And now, it is my privilege and pleasure to introduce the winner of this year's Nobel prize in literature, Cora Wizard.
[applause]
Host: Ever since she published her first novel, A Wolfish Howl, at the age of 15 , Cora Wizard has been one of the world's preeminent literary voices. From her ground-breaking work of historical fiction, Nannerl's Secret, to her controversial collection of short stories Painting your Brain, Mrs. Wizard has shaped the development of literature in the late 20th century. She is unique among our esteemed group of honorees, in that she is also a world-renown painter, sculptor, and multi-media artist. Please join me in welcoming the youngest ever Nobel laureate in literature, Cora Wizard.
[applause]
[2:10]
Cora Wizard: Thank you. [applause continues] Thank you. It is a great [applause continues ]... That's enough! [applause slowly dies] It is a great honor to be here. I never expected to win. Okay, that's not entire true. But I certainly never imagined becoming the youngest winner in history. Oh, I suppose that's not quite true, either; I do have a rather active imagination. [audience laughs] It's wonderful to be recognized for my commitment to literature, and to art in general. Not many people recognize the power of art. I have some distant relatives who believe that you need strong arms or a poison ring to make someone do what you want. I know for a fact that that isn't true.
[3:00]
Cora: Art can be equally persuasive. Let's pretend, just as an example, that I wanted to become President. I could go on TV, and make boring speeches about how I was going to make the country a better place. Or, I could create a gorgeous painting and hide subliminal messages in the background and put it on billboards all around America. You'd be bombarded from all angles, and would basically have to vote for me. That's just an example, of course. Purely theoretical. Books are even better for mind control, which is why I've written so many. A good writer can make people feel or think anything she wants. Not that I'd use my writing to manipulate people. I'm an artist. I have no plans for global domination whatsoever. Though, if someone had to be in charge of the world, I think I'd do a pretty great job. I'm certainly better equipped then some of the nutcases I know who are actually trying to take over the world.
[4:01]
Cora: I wouldn't blow up some small country just because I was angry about breaking a nail ... Isabel. [eh hem] I think I got a little off track. I'd like to thank the Swedish Academy for this immense honor. I plan to hang my Nobel medal above my young son's crib, in order to inspire him to greatness as well. I only hope he lives up to my expectations. It would be rather embarrassing for the son of a Nobel laureate to end up mediocre. [feet shuffling] Oh dear. I actually have to run. There is a helicopter outside waiting to take me to London. I've been dying to visit the British Museum at night, when there aren't all those pesky tourists around. Or security guards. But thank you, again. Good night.
[applause]

Jamaica update
Lucians—
I'm not supposed to be sending this. Mum told me to skip this week's update. She said it's a waste of time to let the branch know "every minor detail" about the hunt. But this isn't minor. At least, I don't think so.

Something terrible happened in Jamaica. Amy and Dan stumbled on a crucial Clue lead, and we needed to take it from them. That part was all business as usual. But they had teamed up with this young guy—not a Cahill—and while we were chasing them down the beach . . . well . . . everything went wrong. There was a storm. And all this quicksand. . .

I know that sometimes the Clue hunt can get "messy," and that Lucians aren't supposed to be afraid of getting their hands dirty. But this felt different. That boy wasn't a Cahill. He never asked to be part of all this.

It was an accident, of course. I'm sure Mum didn't mean for anything like that to happen. But, the thing is, she didn't seem at all bothered. She doesn't seem to mind how many people are killed on the hunt. I'm worried about what she might do next.

We're in the home stretch, Lucians. We need to find the rest of the Clues quickly, before the hunt gets out of hand.

- Ian

Is any of this true? Or is this all a vulture post?

Irina had about seven clues.

well.

I have Madrigal Maze.
In game, there are symbols on the floor.
When deciphered with the encryption card key, they read:
The truth lies with the fifth.

But you knew that, right? Wink

EDIT: oh, and "Guard the secret of Madeleine"

Puzzle Medals
Puzzle totals don't add up

Has anyone had problems with the puzzle medals not counting right?

I've checked all the online cards in My Cards and 76 of the normal cards say "puzzle solved" but I only have the 60 puzzles medal. The 70 puzzles medal still has locked on it.

I've also solved some of the book puzzles and some of the puzzles on the 400 series cards but wasn't sure if these count toward the puzzles total.

Anyone else with this issue?

Similar for the Cards medal. I have 247 normal cards and have the 200 Cards medal but I have many other 400 series cards and agent cards. Can we not reach 250 Cards medal until we get six more cards from Book 10? or should I enter in duplicate cards I have to get to 250 cards?

Problems like that always seem to be cropping up. It's easiest to just shoot off an email to the people in charge of the website noting your problems - they usually fix it in a week or less.

mission 9

I think mission 9 will come out when the book countdown is at 50.
Any guesses on the clue?
It has to be a metal because there have been no metal clues this series.
I believe the clue is tin, because it is the last of the seven metals of alchemy to be a clue.

seven metals of alchemy? hmmm...
looks like Fire is one of the "Four Basic Elements" along with Water, Earth, and Air. If we find out that the last clue (in book 10) is "Fire" and that all the fires we've seen (Gideon's house, Grace's House, Arthur and Hope's house, the house in Indonesia where Irina died) were just people trying to add Fire to the other 38 clues... Maybe Constantine (Lucian) and Henderson (Ekat) were just trying to find the right amount of Fire?

I think the people at the39clues.com have increased anybody with an agent rank in the death adder, atomic agent range, etc to a higher prestige.

parth,
This post is under the Administration\General forum:

First, check your email account's spam box, if any. Many large webmail providers love to dump the forum emails into their bulk mail folders. If the email address with which you registered your account ends in @hotmail.com, @msn.com, @aol.com, @yahoo.com, or something similar, this is most likely.

If your email provider allows you to "whitelist" email addresses to ensure delivery, try adding unforumSPLATunfiction.com (trading SPLAT for @, natch) so that you'll receive future email through the forums.

If you need reactivation, the email wasn't in your inbox, or you have some other problem with your account:
Send an email to unforumSPLATunfiction.com (again, with the @ for SPLAT) from the account with which you registered and make sure you specify your Unfiction username when you tell us your problem. An admin will receive your email and assist you.

sounds like your best bet is to e-mail unforumSPLATunfiction.com and include your account name.

FYI, not sure if anyone has noticed this but I emailed the 39 clues folks and now the cards medals that used to be locked (250 cards and I think 274 cards) are gone and only the "All Cards" medal is left and is locked. Their FAQ indicates the 400 series cards and the agent cards don't count toward the total so I asked how were we going to get to 274 Cards? There are 247 normal cards out for Books 1-9 and Card Packs 1-4. There are only six more cards to come out for Book 10 so the total will be 253. I could see waiting for Book 10 to get the "250 Cards" medal but I guess they realized and removed the extra medals.

Similar for the puzzles medals, I still have 60 Puzzles medal unlocked but the 70 Puzzles medal that was locked is now gone and the All Puzzles medal is unlocked (I put it on my agent card if you want to see it).
So I'm thinking this means the six cards that will come with Book 10 will have no puzzles. Sad Sorry to see the puzzle cards end.

Madrigal presence on Easter Island

Lucians—
I just received a most intriguing report from Alana Flores. She was engaged in surveillance maneuvers on Easter Island, following Maleia Kalani, a Tomas snooping around the island. Why the Tomas sent an agent whose only skills involve riding a surfboard across a few little waves I will never know, and her lack of ability was sadly apparent throughout her mission. She managed to alert the entire island to her presence before being chased away. Typical Tomas behavior.

And yes—Kalani was chased off the island. Not surprising, really. She's lucky that inept Ekat, Victor Somebody, was nearby. He made more noise than she did, and if Flores hadn't been conducting close observations of the two of them, Kalani and Whatshisname probably wouldn't have made it off the island at all.

It seems that our suspicions were correct. According to Flores's report, we now have strong evidence that the Madrigals are indeed running some kind of operation on Easter Island. Shortly after our agent observed Kalani poking around a moai statue, a large group of people wearing all black appeared, seemingly out of nowhere. Flores was unable to get a good look at any of them, but they were clearly in pursuit of someone—no doubt that incompetent Tomas. Or perhaps the blundering Ekat. Flores attempted to get closer to them, but they caught sight of her. She was forced to leave the island before she could gather any further information.

There is little doubt in my mind that, whatever the Madrigals are planning on Easter Island, it won't be good for the Lucians. But we are also the only branch that stands a chance against them. All senior Lucian agents are already forming a strategy for dealing with any Madrigal attacks. I suggest the rest of you also begin preparing immediately.

Be ready, Lucians.

—Isabel

So Maleia (Tomas) Victor Wood (Ekat) and Alana (Lucian) were all checking out Easter Island. Madrigal Stronghold?

Isn't Easter Island where one of the two last clues is? Hmm...just checked, and I couldn't find it. I was sure there was something else talking about Madrigals or clues on Easter Island...
