 Just a thought....

Could it be possible that something may lead us back to the arcades from earlier in the ARG? Just something I thought of yesterday when I got my postcard...

Each of the postcards says "Now Playing At Your Local Arcade". So, if the postcards came from Flynn Lives then perhaps the solution lies at http://www.arcadeaid.com ?

A "Key" perhaps?
a possibility

I overlaid them and taped them together, put them in a document protector and using a UV light, marked the outside of the corners of the black area and any pixels using one color per card. Then I put the document protector in the scanner and the result was the attached. I tried to be as accurate as possible in marking the pixels. I really hoped doing them all-at-once would remove any positional ambiguity, but it didn't really. It's like the scale is slightly different in the originals.

RED=ASTRO GUNNER
GREEN-KRAZ-BOT
BLUE=ARC WARS

Hey, thanks to that picture, it gave me a possible clue: I tried overlaying a grid on the dots themselves, and it almost looks like a musical score! I'll have a picture (or at least a link to the picture) up as soon as I get it done!

I got ArcWars 2 days ago, in the greater Boston area. Mine is uncancelled, which is slightly odd. The cards are sent at random, and there is another shoe still to drop, IMO.

Has anybody checked for Braille?

Just a thought, has anybody tried to match the dots up with Braille?

To follow up on the magnetic stripe theory. I think the card would have to be plastic, otherwise the data on it would probably get wiped. Magnets apparently wipe the data off some magnetic stripe cards.

So yeh I don't think swiping it through a magnetic stripe reader is gonna do much.

Not so. Here in New York, we have single-ride metrocards which are printed on paper, including the strip.

Yup. I think when I was in San Francisco last, there were cards like that for the BART.

Oh kewl. I kinda figured I mighta been heading for a dead-end.

In that case if anyone has a magnetic stripe reader swipe the postcard through and see what comes up.

Someone's already tried that. No go.

I've thought this since the cards started dropping, so I've been checking the site frequently. No changes that I can discern. There is one quote on the home page that refrences one of the cards...

Quote:
Now, for all you Flynn fans out there, you'll be happy to know
that Arcade Aid specializes in parts and accessories for
classic Encom games like "Space Paranoids," "Arc Wars"
and, of course, "TRON."

Vice Squad & Kraz-bot are listed on the Parts & Art page (along with Protron Blaster). But Astro Gunner is not mentioned anywhere on the site.

Since the Parts&Art page says "Don't see what you're looking for? Just give us a call and we'll try to locate the parts you ned to get back in the game." Sooo... I gave Zack a call & thanked him for the postcard and asked him about needing some help with Astro Gunner Smile

(I got the Arc Wars card in MO, for the mapping project)

et voila. Now the rest of you can see what you can do with this. It may be nothing, but it's a possibility. http://shinoyamaguchi.deviantart.com/art/flynn-lives-postcard-169912598

Tried making a map for all of the card locations. Each waypoint is a different color for a different card.

Green-arc wars
red-kraz bot
white-vice squad
black-astro gunner

The map can only hold 30 waypoints, so I only could document the card's locations up to page 29 of this thread. In the description is the name of the card, the username of the person that posted it, and the postmark (if they mentioned it). Also, I guarantee that the waypoints are at least in the right state, but that's it. XD

enjoy~

EDIT: and the white lines don't mean anything. it was just the order I put the points in, or the order of the posts here.

My Look at It

Hey Programs--

Long time lurker, first time poster. I've been taking a long look at the dots combined, messing with it in notepad. We have to keep in mind what sort of messages Flynn Lives tends to issue. So through my own efforts, what I've seen in the dots appears to be:

ENCOMSGREED????, where a question mark denotes an as-yet unknown letter.

I wager that once we have the whole phrase and we enter it into the right URL or password box, we might see some things that Encom doesn't want the public to see.

Also, for the mapping purposes, I've got a Kraz-Bot card in Madison, WI.

No, I don't think that can be it, based on the grid of letter dots on the wiki.
