Sorry, I thought that was a copy of google maps. I thought people in other countries were getting the same postcards. Is that not the case and I missed something?

But at the same time the likelihood is high. Epically considering that they just did the one actual press conference here in the states as well. I feel your pain though, I'm out of the south east and cannot attend either. I guess we just have to help decode and hope that they hand out enough swag that we all get some of it not too expensively. That is if we are correct in the first place. This is still just an assumption.

I like the map idea for 2 reasons:
1) They did a map thing last year at SDCC
2) The dots that are repeated when you overlay the 4 card strips could be the "X marks the spot", or where we're supposed to go when we're at the Con.
Well 3 actually... 3) We haven't figured out the damn puzzle yet.

But after thinking about it I think Clu may be right. Why send these to everyone on the planet? Very few of the card recipients are going to be able to go to SDCC.
Also, every seventh column is blank... just like it would be in a character matrix. So I'm going to go back to what we were originally pursuing initially. I think it's text and we're going to get more parts of the puzzle later.
But I could be wrong... It's still an idea worth pursuing. Razz

I got the Astro Gunner card.
I've been trying to read all the posts/ideas in this forum, so forgive me if this has been suggested maybe I missed it...but could it be binary code somehow?

quick thought, what about the actual floor layout for the convention? don't overlay them on the building, but the floor layout. Is there a map available of the floor plan for SDCC? the dots on our cards could represent the booths for the convention. i don't know how far ahead they have the layout of the convention finalized, so this could be off a bit. like i said, it was a quick thought.

I thought the same thing possibly, but it doesn't appear they've made the floorplan available this year. I couldn't imagine they'd want people jockeying for items on the floor though (any more than people do already for assorted goodies). I'm still thinking that each postcard can be solved seperately THEN combined with the others. Have tried researching things like magnetic tape/strips, etc, but it's all mostly reliant on having an accurate row & column count to determine bit location.

take the red dot system, print and fold on the eighth box
take the red dot system, print and fold on the eighth box

Take the red dot system, print and fold on the eighth box center line. So all the dot matrix overlay themselves. i am unable to make it work myself for some reason. It looks like the dots themselves may fill in the spaces for the letters.

In addition, if that does not work quite, try to invert the other side and see if that help. this is doing if 'physically' but like i said before, i am unable to print this out myself. i try hi lighting it and it does not come up as a print command.

VanGoghX,

I hate to be picky about the work you did, but I see some errors.

In square 4, last row there is only one box and it is the third one from the left.

In square 8, 1st column there are only two boxes not three in a row. The middle one is extra.

In square 11, last row there is an extra box filled in.

In square 12, last row extra box as well.

In square 15, Top row 1st should have a box and then the rest of the column should be blank. In the second column the last box should be filled in. Then in the top row, the box in column 4 needs to move to column 5. Also in row 4 the filled in box needs to be shifted 2 columns to the right.

In square 14, in the top row the last two boxes on the right need to be shifted 1 to the left.

In square 13, the last box in row 1 should be blank, or the first box in square 14 should be blank.

I have not studied the picture as closely as you have, and I may be wrong. But I thought since people were trying to guess letters, maybe looking into some adjustments would help.

Well, they haven't made it available YET. Most of the time, the programming and floorplan information isn't locked in stone until only a week or so before the convention starts... although Preview Night is only 16 days away, they're still probably getting things set up. This is also a good reason why this is almost certainly NOT a map of the Convention Center exhibit hall: aside from the sizing issues, they have no way of knowing what booth is going to be where.

My guess: the people running this operation have been repeatedly thwarted by us, having successfully solved puzzles within hours of their posting. So, they decided to throw us a curve-ball, and only give us HALF a puzzle... letting us go crazy trying to solve it, before providing the other half a week later. We know there are more games in Encom's library, and it seems like we only have half of the data needed for a solid answer. Waiting for some indication that there's actually a puzzle that can be solved is probably our best bet.

Of course, if there are still TWO waves of postcards on their way, we could conceivably deduce the answer before the matching website is posted... and be left frustrated for ANOTHER week. Laughing
