Has anyone tried playing the sound file to the phone when recording the message? Maybe it activates something inside the phone program? Like play it at like everthing?

we need a separate thread for posts discussing whether or not sites are GJ. like one in 20 posts on this thread are actually about HLM.

and this is the first ARG i've been able to get in on from the beginning, so i'm just curious as to how they are usually paced early on. seems like we haven't had any new information for a while now.

Questions about Josh--answers?

I would ask that the moderators put this wherever they deem it is most appropriate. I'm not sure if a new thread should be created dealing with questions and the resulting answers to such, but trust that you will know what to do.

What would you have done if you had been the one that had come into possession of the STIES film?

Let's say Josh is the one currently in possession of the film and that he was the one that posted the STIES photo, showing the image of the red letters from the film leader.

How did he obtain it? Did someone send it to him in the box depicted in the STIES photo? Did he inherit it from his mother?

What would taking a photograph of the red letters have meant to the recipient, if Josh had been the one to write them on the film's leader himself?

If I were Josh and had come across a reel of film and noticed the words "the scariest thing I ever saw" on the leader, I'd take a gander at what was on the film.

If I concurred with that statement, what would I want to know?
Is/was what I had seen real? Hence the post on the Above Top Secret site:
"Hey - new to this site. Does anyone know the best way to authenticate something? Like old papers, photos, footage, etc? Are there experts for conspiracy related verifications? Would appreciate the help!"

http://abovetopsecret.com/forum/thread83236/pg12

(This post could also imply that "papers, photos" may also be involved in addition to the "footage.")

If I were assured that the film was authentic, what else would I want to know?
Just what is it I'm looking at in the film? What's the story morning glory?

Everyone is different, but if I agreed that what I was looking at was the "scariest thing" I'd ever seen (and frankly, a once thought to be extinct terrestrial creature would not be), and it was real, I'd want to know if the thing is still alive and poses a threat to me/others.

Other questions:
Who initiated the STIES website and simulator? Josh, or the one who responds to his inquiry?
Who loaded the tonal clip to the STIES site? Josh?
Why switch the position of the monkey brooch/pin on the pillbox hat from the STIES photo to the craigslist posting?
What is the significance of the differences with the antique clock post and the other estate ? sale items.
The 1-800 message alludes to other family members—what possible tie-in is there?
Who is Fred and what part (if any) does he play?
Shouldn't Josh be aware that coelacanths CANNOT be kept alive in captivity?
Wouldn't Shelly have mentioned that?
Why would Josh write that "it's rare to meet a fellow fish-enthusiast?" What would be rare about that? Just go down to your local pet store!?!
Why, when Shelly responds does she use (in both instances) the word licensed (an anagram for declines). In both cases, their use seem superfluous, i.e. "licensed fish dealer" and "licensed tour guide."
What about Josh's exchange with Shelly would prompt him to say, "Hopefully I didn't scare you guys off with my last post"? Anything scary there to you?
From his posts, he works with a "computer at work" and is "starting to get a (sic) allergic reaction to paper products." What job could that be? I've known persons who've developed an allergic reaction to led found in newspapers. Could he work at a newspaper?
On June 7 he writes, "So you might have wondered why an entire month went by without any updates." And yet he posted on May 18th and May 26th –not an "entire month went by."
Why, for someone told that he has an impressive aquarium collection (and presumably loves to keep live fish) would he want to bring up "who has experience deep-sea fishing? Seems a tad incongruent.

There's more but thought I'd get this started.

{Sorry for such a long post but thought I'd express questions that I've had, that I don't feel have been adequately resolved.—thanks XL}

Questions questions questions

Questions questions questions - We all have questions, but that is the intention (and allure) of the game:

What would you have done if you had been the one that had come into possession of the STIES film?
I think we have parts of it - The S8 frames intercut in the original trailer

Let's say Josh is the one currently in possession of the film and that he was the one that posted the STIES photo, showing the image of the red letters from the film leader. How did he obtain it? Did someone send it to him in the box depicted in the STIES photo? Did he inherit it from his mother?
One assumes given the time-frame it was included in the junk he inherited from his mother. Maybe the red letters are the "damn thing" he talks about ie. the film

What would taking a photograph of the red letters have meant to the recipient, if Josh had been the one to write them on the film's leader himself?
Proof he owns the film-I doubt he'd send an original

If I were Josh and had come across a reel of film and noticed the words "the scariest thing I ever saw" on the leader, I'd take a gander at what was on the film.
thescariestthing was not written in red - I doubt it's on Josh's version. It was for us see later post

That's the big question. Josh is currently off the radar. The other question is what do other people know and what does it mean to them

Just what is it I'm looking at in the film? What's the story morning glory?
Stick around til next summer-We might know more then

Everyone is different, but if I agreed that what I was looking at was the "scariest thing" I'd ever seen (and frankly, a once thought to be extinct terrestrial creature would not be), and it was real, I'd want to know if the thing is still alive and poses a threat to me/others.
Statement not question - We're talking about "i" not "u"

Other questions:
Who initiated the STIES website and simulator? Josh, or the one who responds to his inquiry?

Presumably D.Morris. Who owns it now-We're guessing Josh but that is PURE speculation based on the temporal relationship between blogs and PDP posts

Who loaded the tonal clip to the STIES site? Josh?
Your guess as good as mine

Why switch the position of the monkey brooch/pin on the pillbox hat from the STIES photo to the craigslist posting?
Maybe to make it more sellable - Hide a stain

What is the significance of the differences with the antique clock post and the other estate ? sale items.
I wish I knew - Time will tell

The 1-800 message alludes to other family members—what possible tie-in is there?
Who knows - Evelyn Minker would have been a young Mum in 1979 - And she appears to be the source of the ?Film. Make your own story up from there

Who is Fred and what part (if any) does he play?
Who is Fred?? Is he a Coelacanth ??

Shouldn't Josh be aware that coelacanths CANNOT be kept alive in captivity?
Wouldn't Shelly have mentioned that?

Anyone working in any profession always gets contacted by crazies enthusiasts. You placate... Josh is clearly an "enthusiast" but not that knowledgable OR coelacanth and rarefish is code for something else

Why would Josh write that "it's rare to meet a fellow fish-enthusiast?" What would be rare about that? Just go down to your local pet store!?!
It's all about degrees of obsession

Why, when Shelly responds does she use (in both instances) the word licensed (an anagram for declines). In both cases, their use seem superfluous, i.e. "licensed fish dealer" and "licensed tour guide."
See previous answer about enthusiasts-Very apt anagram though, I like (must remember that!)

What about Josh's exchange with Shelly would prompt him to say, "Hopefully I didn't scare you guys off with my last post"? Anything scary there to you?
I think he's talking about UBER-geekdom

From his posts, he works with a "computer at work" and is "starting to get a (sic) allergic reaction to paper products." What job could that be? I've known persons who've developed an allergic reaction to led found in newspapers. Could he work at a newspaper?
Or a post-it factory, library, hamster bedding company.... We don't know - Presumed desk job

On June 7 he writes, "So you might have wondered why an entire month went by without any updates." And yet he posted on May 18th and May 26th –not an "entire month went by."
Seperate blogs-Just so his fans know

Why, for someone told that he has an impressive aquarium collection (and presumably loves to keep live fish) would he want to bring up "who has experience deep-sea fishing? Seems a tad incongruent.
He's Capt Ahab and he's gonna bag him a coelacanth (known deep water fish)

Come and figure out some of these answers Wink

Re: Weird spot on the fish's fin from HLM & RP Moon
connection?

I posted this earlier on a different thread, thought I might get a better response on the actual HLM thread:

This may seem a bit far off, but I know both of things: the weird three lines on the right side of the moon on the Rocket Poppeteers website and the weird black and white part of the fish's fin in the background of the HLM website, were mentioned separately, but never together. These two things, in terms of appearance, seem strikingly similar, and I just thought it was interesting.

Can't see it personally - But I have very similar fish in a tank next to me (rainbow shark). Not sure there's anything in it. Christian Watson posted a similar theory. Good idea though-nothing more hidden than something in plain view

(NB. I sank MANY hours trying to align trailer pics so there is an element of negative conditioning at work)

I think Josh was trying to get a date with Shelly based on the line:
"She seems like a nice woman, right? Maybe I should follow-up…."

He mentions he wrote her again and probably said something along the lines of being interested in visiting the aquarium she worked at and having her give him a tour Wink I base this on her reply:
"If you're planning a visit to our aquarium in the near future, I'd be happy to set you up with one of our licensed tour guides to answer any further questions." She says licensed because that's her excuse for not wanting to give him the tour herself.

Basically she was letting him know she wasn't interested. He appears to understand this as he says:
"Oh well. Worth a shot. Maybe I asked her too many questions…".

He than begins to worry that he may have scared off any of his readers with the insertions of his personal life into his fish blog.

Just what me thinks anyway Smile

Thanks for your take

Multipsych(abbrv);

My point regarding the writing on the leader was, "why (if you're Josh) write STIES on the leader and take a photo of it to proove he has the d*mn thing, if he (Josh) wrote it on there. That, in itself, would prove nothing to whom the photo of it was intended, unless THAT person had written it on the leader, or had seen the film with the writing on it at some point in time. Don't you think?

I mean if Josh writes that, so what? What does taking a photo of what he wrote on the leader prove, unless someone can ID the letters as being part of the real film?

I kinda assumed he didn't. It's been established via the official website (watch the loop on the background after the trailer) the red writing says:
Quote:

DATE:_____ TITLE:_____ PROCESSED BY KODAK:_________

Which apparently is quite standard for S8 film. As I said, I think it may be proving he has the film

Multipsych,

OK, maybe I'm looking at this way wrong, and that could very well be--it's hard for me to write this out, rather than just speaking to someone in person, but let me try again to express my concerns over who wrote STIES on the leader.

Let's say you found the film with no printing penned on it; i.e. STIES.

You then write on the leader STIES, and take a photo of part of that phrase. What does that prove to the person you're sending the photo to?

What would that possibly mean to the person receiving the photo, UNLESS the person you're sending the photo to had knowledge of, or had wrote the phrase him-her/self.

Enjoy your thoughtful observations, thnx!

Hmmm.. I see what you mean. If it happens that way I don't have an explanation, though one could always wave their hands and come up with a plausible sounding story. My assumption is based on the STIES being written in black, and only on the first movie trailer - It was the butterfly causing the hurricaine. I don't think it is related to Josh land directly, merely intended to light the viral fuse and lead us all to the starting lineup.

I think it has been posted here somewhere, where a side-by-side depiction of the STIES lettering and the portion that Josh takes a photo of are proved to be one in the same; perhaps the coloring is different, but the letters are the same, from what I recall.

Glad I was at least able to make sense to someone else, hooray!

And Lindsay Lohan was just sentenced to 90 days in the slammer. (There must be some tie-in there, or is it GJ? lol)

Hadn't noticed that, had to prove it for myself... How bizarre!
