New blog post from Anna:

Mind and body

You can probably see Joe's new training video up there – he's come up with a couple of tough little exercises for Lewis, designed to increase his agility and speed off the mark. You can never be too quick.

At the same time, I've built a new heist simulator based on Brian's floor plans. Lewis will have to go up the fire escape and onto the roof, then down into the penthouse from there.

There do seem to be a lot of guards around the place, both on the roof and inside. There's only one road in and out of that peninsula too, which makes me nervous. The place is like a castle.

I'm going to park the van over on the other side of the river, well out of sight. It means Lewis will have a lovely long jog to warm himself up on his way to the building.

So get going. Train your body with Joe and your mind with the simulator. Faster!

Looks like Joe accepted Lewis' challenge to "bring on the pain" in the training video.
The new heist simulator is much like the last one, except that the guards are more alert. For some reason I'm having trouble downloading the mobile version from getjar.
Edited to add: Here is a 1:55 time on the desktop simulator for you all to smash!

The need for speed

Impressive. It looks like you've really figured out the new heist simulator. Have you tried the mobile version? More practice makes more perfect.

You might have heard the story about the architect who built a new university campus. He planned out the buildings but didn't lay any paths between them. All he did was plant beautiful green lawns of grass.

'Paths come later,' he said.

Six months after the campus opened, the grass wasn't so pristine anymore. The footsteps of the students had worn brown crisscrossing tracks across the lawns, showing where they usually walked.

'That's where we lay the paths.'

That's how I think of these heist simulators. By getting thousands of you to walk through the virtual building, we can find the most efficient routes. You are Lewis's pathfinders.

You're also his long-distance training partners. Joe wants me to make sure you're all trying the shuttle runs and sprint starts. If not, try them over the weekend. I know Lewis already is – he won't stop saying how sore it's making his legs, but he's a resilient boy. He'll do anything to go quicker.

A new code

I hope you've been training hard. The exercise programme of sprint starts and shuttle runs has really paid off for Lewis. Joe has been tracking his progress and says it's made a real difference to how fast Lewis is moving – which means I need to make another adjustment to the heist simulator.

If you click 'Enter code' on the main menu of the penthouse heist sim, you'll be able to type in a number: 333991985. That will make Lewis move faster, meaning you can get even better times to beat your friends. You can use the same code for the mobile version of the simulator.

I've been looking into the alarm system that Hawker has installed, and I can't see a way around it. It operates on its own power circuit and there's no quick way to turn if off. If it's not quick, it's not an option. I think the smash-and-grab approach is the only way this time. So much for subtlety.

Lewis will be arriving in Canada soon with Lenny as extra baggage. I have preparations to make.
For some reason I still can't download the mobile version. I've even tried a different computer / different browser / different isp.

The secret code makes a significant difference to the sim. Even though I'm now waiting for the guards to pass by in some places, my overall time has improved.
There is also a new secret message from Anna.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
After you have entered the secret code into the Montreal simulator, a new letter from Anna appears in the lower left part of the rooftop (press space to view it).

Windows

While it's fantastic that we've got guaranteed access to a satellite now, we still have the problem of limited operational windows. We'll have just a few minutes of coverage, and that will only come along once every couple of days.

In Montreal, the only window we'll get is on Sunday afternoon - just after the race. Lewis can make it in time, but Lenny is really going to earn his keep this weekend. He's under strict instructions not to give too many interviews, but he does enjoy the spotlight. It's another reason for Lewis to get in and out of that penthouse as fast as possible.

As well as satellite coverage, I've lined up some new kit to keep an eye on Lewis while he's inside. I think you'll like it.

Wish us luck.

Edited to add: I created an inspirational training montage.

Making the leap

I can't quite believe he did it, but he did.

The only reason I can believe it is because I had to watch it happen, first-hand, through his head-cam. When he ran for that balcony… Well, you can see it for yourself. I've edited the footage down to a more efficient length.

The sculpture survived the whole escapade. It was designed to be modular, and now… it's a little more modular than it was. But when it's assembled, you wouldn't know the difference.

It remains a very fine work of art and Thierry is extremely grateful to have it back. That was an interesting moment. When he asked Lewis how he got hold of the sculpture again, Lewis just said: 'It's a secret.'

That secret is you. Your collective efforts have helped Lewis pull off an amazing feat of athletic skill and daring, and you've made one of the world's greatest footballers very happy too. You even reunited a loving couple in Canada. An excellent few weeks' work.

I think we all deserve a break now. No doubt there will be other adventures ahead – in the not too distant future.

Keep watching @SecretLewis and stay sharp. I'll be calling on you again.

Hi,

I just wanted to say thanks for your help during our latest adventure. Thierry is delighted to have his sculpture back, and Anna is just happy that nobody got hurt.

If you haven't seen it yet, check out the video Anna made of the whole heist. Now she can add film-making to her long list of talents too.

I don't expect I'll be jumping off any more balconies for the next few weeks, but in the meantime, I have a mission for you: recruit your friends. When our next adventure kicks off, I want there to be thousands more of you out there, ready for action. Who knows what skills we'll need, and where in the world we'll end up?

So spread the word and keep an eye on @SecretLewis. This isn't over yet.

I'll be in touch.

[PUZZLE]: Solve the maze.
[LIVE EVENT]: Live event in London on Saturday.

Time for tea

I told you we should have kept this secret.

Lewis's activities have been noticed. Over the past few weeks he has been followed, monitored, bugged and tracked by the British Intelligence Service, and on Tuesday they invited him in for tea.

They want him to solve a problem – a very real problem that has been puzzling them for years.

Works of art keep going missing from British embassies around the world, and now, finally, they're going to do something about it. That's why they need Lewis. And that's why we need you.

Several weeks ago, a modern abstract masterpiece in the style of Frank Kline was stolen from the office of the British Ambassador to Frankfurt. All highly embarrassing, but what makes it worse is that they know exactly who took it.

Our Intelligence Service handler hasn't told us who that is – it's on a 'need to know' basis, and apparently she doesn't need us to know yet – but she did say that any official attempt by the government to get the painting back would risk a serious diplomatic incident. What she wants is an unofficial way of retrieving the painting. A way that gives her plausible deniability.

I don't like agreeing to jobs without a clear brief, and this unknown thief makes me very nervous. But the Intelligence Service was very clear. If we don't cooperate, they have the reach and the manpower to shut down our activities for good.

So, we agreed to help.

Rather unhelpfully, all our handler gave us when we agreed was this maze, the one in the picture at the top of this page. It looks like she's testing all of us – that means you – to make sure we're Intelligence Service material. All she said was: "This maze begins your training. And if you're near London, keep Saturday free."

And they've sent out an email too to alert us...

Hi,

We've been spotted. All our secret sneaking around has been noticed by the authorities, and now they want a favour.

The Intelligence Service has asked us to help with a delicate problem: an international diplomat has stolen a painting from an embassy, and we need to get it back without causing a political incident.

But first, you need to prove yourself worthy of the Intelligence Service. Ready for your first training exercise? Click here. (NB: the "click here" leads somewhere, but it's a marketing stats tracker link so I won't copy paste. It probably just leads to the puzzle or the blog post)

And if you're anywhere near London this weekend, clear your schedule.

-Lewis

Of course, this happens the weekend after I move away from London, and I doubt I can make an impromptu trip there this weekend. Too late, Secret Lewis brigade!

The maze is quite simple..solved that. Now need to wait for more time to do the rest of the stuff!

I only wish they'd do this on a NON-grand prix weekend! I'd like to watch qualifying Wink

SOLUTION: The Maze Puzzle (English)
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Solve the maze from the '+' in the top left to the little phone in the bottom right corner. Write down all the numbers in the path to reveal a phone number.

UK: 0207 193 2696
International: +44 207 193 2696
Some mobile phones or VOIP software can dial a + directly, otherwise you need to know how to dial an international number from your phone.

An mp3 recording of the voicemail message is attached below.

[META]I like how the different language versions have different mazes and different numbers.

Faking it

Our handler is pleased. It seems that your collective performances in the Intelligence Service training game have pleasantly surprised her – though she encourages you all to keep practicing.

As a result, she has now seen fit to trust us with more details of our target. His name is Alexei Petrarkov and he is the Monrovan cultural attaché in Hungary.

This light-fingered fellow has been fleecing a number of embassies over the years. While the authorities know full well what he's been up to, they've been powerless to intervene. Not only does Petrarkov have diplomatic immunity, but even accusing him of a crime would cause an outcry in Monrova and upset the delicate political balance of Central Europe.

Until now, the odd painting was deemed a fair price to pay for peace, but this time, he's gone too far. It's the British ambassador's favourite picture.

All of this means that our task is two-fold: we need to steal back the painting; and we need to make sure Petrarkov doesn't even realise it's gone.

So the plan is to take the painting from Petrarkov's villa in Hungary and replace it with a forgery – a very good forgery, and we're lucky because a very good forgery already exists.

And we're unlucky because it hasn't been seen in years.

The fake was last seen in London. We have a lead. On Saturday, we're going to track it down.

Go to the TenderPixel Gallery from noon between 1-6pm on Saturday. It's a little place on Cecil Court near Leicester Square. That's where the fun starts.

Edit: Anna revised the event times in her blog.
