New Tweet, who could have missed what?!?

Coordinates Trip

New tweet! Looks like heybeesly missed something on his trip. On a side note, looks like definite confirmation that this is an ARG, or at least has strong ARG elements

You beat me to it. Smile

If this is about me, then I really have no idea what I missed. I scoured that place.

Also, for what it's worth, oh mysterious note writer, I'm a she. Not a he. Smile

...unless this isn't referring to my search, in which case, we're cool. But I really don't know who/what else this could be talking about.

Our biggest problem is that, if these were indeed coordinates, they were not written in the normal format. Most of the time, you'll find it in minutes and seconds. So, where Google Maps brought is us approximately N 40 18' 18.6, W 74 41' 5.82". Obviously that is not what was written on the papers, so we explored a bit to try to find other options.

Perhaps this was also the wrong interpretation of the coordinates, if, of course, they are coordinates?

If it is about you and I am POSITIVE it is, perhaps this is them informing you to open that garbage bag?

That's what I'm thinking. I just don't know what else to do with the formatting of the "coordinates" that the guys/damsel received. The formatting is just weird, and could be taken a few ways based on the placement of the decimal point. Ideas, anyone?

Anyway, I just emailed the guys letting them know that I went, and that the note was possibly talking about my search. I offered to share my pictures if they want, but I don't expect them to be interested.

I'm back to being 4 hours away from the coordinates, so I can't readily go check them out again. Anyone else in New Jersey/Delaware/Philly?

Just FYI, the co-ordinates are in degrees with decimal minutes, not decimal degrees or degrees-minutes-seconds format, so there is a chance that you entered them incorrectly.
Google Earth has a facility to display co-ordinates in degrees with decimal minutes, which is how I found what I found. Maybe what you need is a converter from decimal minutes to minutes and seconds.

And here's one I've just found
Might come in handy later. In the meantime, the co-ordinates in DMS are:
40deg 18m 18s N
74deg 41m 5s W

EDIT: On second reading of HeyBeesly's post, the GPS location is pretty much bang on target, I can find no fault with where he/she went.

I really appreciate those conversions! Just goes to show how little I know about coordinates, hahah. But yeah, it's funny, that's almost exactly where I found that Bobby Valentin CD... though I guess that wasn't what I was looking for. Razz

(Also, I'm a lady, hahah.)

I've learned more about co-ordinates playing this game than I even did in geography at school or as an Air Cadet.
I like logic puzzles and the like because they let me learn a new skill or a new fact.
And now I know that you're a lady, HeyBeesly, I shall be more able to refer to you as such, should the need arise. Very Happy

I thought I'd add something, even though this is proubably a creepy coincidence.

So I put N 40. 18. 18 W 74. 41. 5 into Google map search and got somewhere in Cancún Mexico

When you go to street view you can see it's near a playground

And am I losing my mind, or is that a guy in a suit in the background?

Well.. it sort of looks like one if you go to the street view. Or maybe a weird shadow and my brain is playing tricks on me. Oh well.

EPIC COINCIDENCE.

I still say the garbage bag has what we need. Just sayin'.

I wish I wasn't so far away, I'd love to go on an ARG adventure trip >.< even if it is just to look in a garbage bag!

I'm currently preparing for a road trip (further south, so the opposite of where I'd need to go to check this out again), and won't be back in the area to check it out again until the end of the month.

I am totally willing to go back, but are we patient enough to wait that long? Razz I could also send my brother, if he has the time/interest in this.

Thoughts?

Also, for what it's worth, the garbage bag really worried me. It looked more likely to contain something that would give me AIDS than something that had to do with the game, but that's just me. If I go back and try to open the bag, I'm bringing protective gloves. And probably hand sanitizer.

IMPORTANT EDIT:
After looking at johnnymanic's "translated" coordinates into a format I understand better, I looked them up on Google Maps. I walked through that area and searched that area, but it is NOT the same area as where I found the garbage bag/sunglasses/tire shrine. It's closer to where I found the Bobby Valentin CD, though I sincerely doubt that's important at all. See the map below:

"A" is where johnnymanic's "translated" coordinates go. "B" is approximately where I found the creepy garbage bag.

So, it doesn't look like the same place, though very very close to one another. Thoughts on this?
