I just noticed a post from Tron on Facebook:
"Program Notes: The computer-centric look of "TRON:Legacy" wouldn't have been possible without "Bit," the flying polyhedron from the original "TRON," generally considered to be film's first CGI character!"
... maybe these codes have something to do with bits?

i think the TRON fb page isnt in-g ame, so any updates there would not pertain to the ARG

thanks for the input. i doubt it though, the Tron page and the Flynn Lives pages are run completely separately. one by Disney and one by 42E.

Well I got my Vice Squad postcard today finally (hate how long US-Canada postage takes). Put a lot of effort into getting a solid image of the UV matrix, and tried testing some grid sizes.

So, tips for a very usable grid photo (might be preaching to the choir though, of course) --
Switch your camera to macro mode (need a relatively decent camera to get a large, sharp image from up close), bump the ISO to the lowest settings and very slow stop (I used fCool which lets you take a longer exposure. Prop the camera directly above the card facing down; a tripod leaning over a desk is one way. Move the light over it a few times once you start the longer exposure, but make sure not to move the card. You should get a solid, crisp image.

So I took my grid photo, aligned it and measured its pixels, and as a test of the theory that it's 8 rows by 106 columns (15 x 6x6 letters with 1 space padding around) made it fit within the below image (each grid space is 21x21 pixels).

The lit blocks didn't seem to fit perfectly, however on adjusting its width (attempting to fit into less possible columns), I couldn't find a size where every block fit within a grid space. So I'm thinking there's a bit of abberation in the proportion between the middle and ends due to the lens proximity.
Even so, given that presumption, this was still the best match I could get... that still doesn't mean this is right track though. =P

And so, IF it is a 106x8 matrix, this alignment shows that it's not 6x6 letters, since some blocks are between letter regions.

In short: I'm still stumped. Bang Head
Still can't figure out even the dimensions of the grid... trying something else.

For the hell of it, I tried braille. If the grid is correct, it happens to come out to a perfect set of 2x6 square boxes that make up the braille code...but there were too many missing or incomplete characters. I don't think it's braille...no connection to Tron.

I also briefly glanced at the possibility that these could be punch card codes...but I don't have to time to dig in to that right now.

I have to lean toward some kind of computer or game-related code...even found a reference to some old Nintendo dot codes, but those didn't product anything either. I think it was someone's crazy rant.[/url]

recap :

  • 1 : One solution // one same sentence : "Now Playing at your Local Arcade"
  • 2 : The two-Words Games (Astro Gunner, Kraz-Bot, Arc Wars, Vice Squad)
  • 3 : The 3 lines of the description of Vice Squad and Astro Gunner
  • 4 : The 4 Cards
  • 5 : The 5 lines of the description of Kraz-Bot and Arc Wars
  • 6/8 : The 6/8 lines of the code

  • 19: The 19 Squares of Kraz-Bot card
  • 20: The 20 Squares of Vice Squad card

  • 23: The 23 words of Kraz-Bot
  • 25: The 25 words of Astro Gunner
  • 28: The 28 words of Vice Squad and Arc Wars

  • 31: The 31 Squares of Astro Gunner card
  • 32: The 32 Squares of Arc Wars card

Do you see anything else ?

Why we don't have the Key now ?

I think it's because some people have not yet their card.

Be patient ! Rolling Eyes

I know I'm tardy to the party here, so sorry if this has been mentioned before. From what I can see (I don't have a blacklight so I have to work with what I can see from the light reflection), the black grid is exactly 1 x 14 cm, and each of the dots seems to be 1mm square. So possibly a grid of 10 x 140?

So, i'm up for just waiting to see what 42 has in store for us. I'm still on vacation, so I don't have my card yet, but will be home later tonight.

I was thinking perhaps the squares are ment for like, hole punching and we'll have to lay it over something, and it'll highlight certain objects, like letters, and put them together.

I dunno, but I'm sure we'll find out soon enough.
