Wasn't this solution reached a while back?

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=715808&search_id=1244445020#715808

With 'game' and 'sector' (sectr) being suggested even before that:

http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?p=715772&search_id=1244445020#715772

So far it yielded no results as a URL or anything else.

Maybe before people start going nuts with sitting and drawing and tracing and guessing and all that work, they should read the archive. Yea, I know we're up past 50 pages now. But I don't see how sitting and skimming through the pages could be considered more work than all the photoshopping and such everyone is doing. And if people would repost ideas less, then the pagecount would be lower.

something found on the front

I received astro gunner on july 3rd i have been trying to get a black light to see it.

I put mine under a microscope to see if i missed anything. on the front right edge just on the edge of the image i found this.

the string is too long.

but i have written it down putting zeros at the spaces (on a clockwise 1/4 turn)
10110110011010111011100111110110100101111001111111110011101111

Or in reverse
11110111001111111110011110100101101111100111011101011001101101

I will grind on this a bit but maybe you all can look to see if you have different or any markings on the front or your cards.

To be fair, he did a nice job of making a graphic that fills in the blanks. But, yeah... we've been down this road before.

Oh, absolutely, and it's a really nice job. I just hate the idea of people wasting time and energy re-exploring dead-end alleys. I mean, how many people have looked up to see if it is braille or punch card code? If you want to play around with it, by all means- I still do a little, more for fun than anything else. But I'd rather see people working towards something mroe fruitful- put that energy to work in a more productive direction.

To be fair, it looks as though after a long time of having us sit on our hands, 42E suddenly decided to give us a puzzle which we aren't supposed to be able to solve- yet. We're all impatient for the game to begin and this is certainly a sign. But all it does is whet our anticipation for the game.

Please read the archives. If you want to argue with other people's arguments, fine. But please, please read the archive.

O.o You have an SEM in your home?

I'm sorry if I came off as rude. I'm not complaining that info is being repeated so much as I don't want people to waste time and effort. I know I would be frustrated to have a great idea, check it out, do some work- then find people already found and discussed and ultimately dismissed my idea long ago.

Still can't figure out even the dimensions of the grid... trying something else.
I know I'm tardy to the party here, so sorry if this has been mentioned before. From what I can see (I don't have a blacklight so I have to work with what I can see from the light reflection), the black grid is exactly 1 x 14 cm, and each of the dots seems to be 1mm square. So possibly a grid of 10 x 140?

So I worked on this further and after three do-overs (first I was trying to eyeball which 1mm space each dot belonged to without a second ruler; then I flubbed up measuring, putting some dots before or after their proper space Bang Head) each does in fact work out to a precise spot on this sized grid.

The column-row grid I got:
Code:
3-6  4-2  4-9  8-9  9-9  12-4  18-4  24-9  25-9  30-6  36-8  39-4  45-5  47-7  50-8  52-8  56-4  61-6  65-5  65-7  80-5  95-9  96-9  106-9  116-(4-9)  126-4  134-6  136-4

I don't know if the different proportions will help get a clearer picture though. Dunno Anyone else have two mm rulers and want to try this with the three other cards?

The Arc Wars grid below.

Edit: changed file format to stop the stretching. Why don't gifs get resized? Also added spreadsheet version to allow editing.

Re: something found on the front

A mod should post the solved code on the first page then. To avoid people like myself messing up. I got somewhere in this thread many pages deep and one person listed 3 names after a picture with possible Letters.

The guy after him suggested adding a 1 to the end of the code

Encoms Game Sector
Encoms Play Sector
I Forgot the 3rd one.

After reading that. I didn't see an S after the "encom" or the place for a 1. So I tried my hands at something someone else posted, unaware that someone had the solve and proof to back up the claim of what the code actually spelt.

My bad, I got my arc wars card today and ran here. Just trying to help. I guess i should have skimmed all 50 some odd pages. from now on why not announce a solve in "(" ")" the threads subject. So folks like me don't feel like jerks.

Hunh. Nobody's considered court stenography. I'm rather surprised.
