Fish eye--Rocketpoppeteers' moon

Christian,

Yeah join, the more the merrier.

Seems to me that the a possible connection between the fish's eye and the moon on the RP site was touched upon earlier (beware the trout--it's spawning season!) but I don't really see much similarity, but then again, I'm a cyclops!

Tilbury
Tides

Alright...Tilbury is like the GMT of tides, this is where they are all measured from..I was just talking to a mate of mine who is a fisherman and that is where they calibrate all the tides from. I got this info from a fisherman friend of mine- I've been trying to verify it biut have found nothing yet.

Here's alink to the tides in Tibury for the next week and it matches the calendar of Minker.

http://easytide.ukho.gov.uk/EASYTIDE/EasyTide/ShowPrediction.aspx?PortID=0111&PredictionLength=7

From Wikipedia:
"the Port of Tilbury handles a variety of bulk cargo, timber, cars and container traffic and remains, along with Southampton and Felixstowe, one of Britain's three major container ports. It is the main UK port for importing paper, including newsprint."

Didn't Minker say he was getting allergic to paper?

Is there a link between Tilbury and where Minkers mother is? He was way for a month- a long time to be away...maybe the england link isn't so tenuous?

English link to where Josh lives?

Christian;

I would tend to discount England as where Josh hangs his hat at the end of the day.

Recall that on his blog (April 4th, I believe) he inclued a reply that Shelly sent him where she says, in part:
"I recommend that you contact any of the dozen nonprofit conservancies across the east coast."

I just assumed that she was referring to the east coast of the US.

maybe NEW England?

Ok so we've got 2 close matches so far. Cape Cod - Nantucket Sound and Tilbury, England.

I'm personally leaning more towards Cape Cod. This calendar states that it is the best time to spot rare fish. Cape Cod hosts many rare fish. Tilbury is on the River Thames, which does not appear to be home to many rare fish.

I think this is interesting, but I looked at the link and I'm not getting how it matches the calendar on HLM?

Your link lists four times for 7/9: 4:10, 10:43, 17:03, and 23:07.

Josh lists 10:13 am - 10:58 am and 10:48 pm -11:32 AM (which is one of the strange time goofs I mentioned in another post... that should probably say PM, not AM).

Did you just mean that the high water marks listed on your link are within the time ranges that Josh lists?

But I thought because tides are linked to rotation and the moon, that this would pretty much be true anywhere. Maybe I'm wrong.

The paper thing is pretty interesting though! But I agree that the mention of east coast and Josh's lack of English mannerisms in his writing have me thinking east coast USA.

I'm not so sure about Cape Cod. For a few days after July 12, his chart gets extremely inaccurate - sometimes an hour away from high tide. With a few of them he misses high tide by a few minutes; I can accept that. But I don't think that if it was intended to correlate with Cape Cod, there would be days that off.

Tidal chart and post

What if the rare fish is josh himself?
Is it possible for those who have identifeied as posted on the hlm blog to provide in what time zone they live? When you look at the chart and the date/time of the posts, they all fall in or +- a couple hours. The chart may be the time when Josh is actually selecting the post that he will publish. As an example, the email (wich i am apparently the only one who got a reply Question ) was sent june 29th at 5:22 ( utc/GMT -5). Following this logic would leave that josh is located im utc/gmt -7.

I am just trying to make sense why over the pile of email he got, only one was replied. Those time must be the ones he dispose out of work or as leasure time. I don't know why but josh writes, makes comments, "acts", like someone with a very focused mind. This recall me people suffering from Asperger's ( ok mc frontalot, you can now get out of my head...) or from a psychological shock. He can be so obsess by fish that he transpose their world into his, hence referring to a Tidal charts for his own availability.

Risking sounding like a broken record, I'm not so sure about this. If it were planned out for his posts to match the tidal chart, I would think that they'd really match the chart, not miss it by a couple of hours.
As for your theory about him, maybe he's just a really busy guy? It seems like a bit of a reach to say that he's so obsessed with fish that he's doing that, especially with no real hints to psychological problems.

My theory: This isn't a tide chart per se. It is what it says it is, a calendar that lists the best time to spot fish. I think those times are based on tide water predictions, though. As in, based on the tides in this region, here are your best chances that you'll spot a rare fish.

After doing a bit of reseach, I found that in most places it's best to dive during high tide. That's when fish come out to feed and some places aren't even divable at low tide. I also read in a few places that diving just prior to and about an hour after high tide is best.

You're right it is off on a few of the dates. I've been going through these tide charts trying to find a closer match. Tide predictions vary by going even just a few miles up a beach. And there are TONS of place in which tides are predicted. If I find a better match I will definitely post it. I've narrowed down my search by looking only at places that have a single high tide on the dates that have overlapping times, though so that helps.

Every time I go to this website, it's painful to read.

Worst web page ever. Yet I do get a kick out of the "Awesome site, dude!" comments... Rolling Eyes

Email

I was trying to get into Josh's email, if anyone has any idea what his uncles name would be because it is the secret question.

And also not sure if this was said already don't wanna read through 30 pages.
But, most of the pictures on his site are saved as .gif. Usually people saving things as .gif is because they move, but nothing on the site moves.

Ex. The welcome to my website banner, all of the gray boxes, and the white fish should all be moving if they are saved as .gif

.GIF files don't have to be animated. They can be, but it's not mandatory. And I don't suggest trying to get into Josh's email account.

On web desing, the gif files are chosen not only for the animation, but also becouse they are less "heavy" and are more easily to upload.

Jpg could be more difficult to upload to the page or consume more space of de hosting of your web, so I donīt see thats something meaningful.

Edit: twodten post it first xD

So, the only importance about the images format maybe is if there were photoshoped...

Gif files have less quality, so itīs more notable if they are touched

[Just to add something different xD]
