My apologies for being out of line. I was only using it jokingly, however it was kind of valid, the topic of the missing "i" in my username had already been brought up. Once again, my apologies.

I don't think an apology is in order for this one. konamouse, observe evidence A:

VictorCharlie, the missing "i" is intentional, but thank you for noticing.

"B" was throwing in a reference to the "Tom Tooman" campaign from a couple years back.
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/index.php?f=230
It had to do with mssng "i" 's and got to be sort of a running joke.
(If you got to 'splain em they're not as much fun )

I guess I could call myself a noob to the online realm of ARG's. I observed the one for Cloverfield, but never participated on a forum, and as for SUPER 8, it is my first experience in actively participating in an ARG on a forum.

Served! Yeah, What Mouse said!
Anyways, we have too little information to make a real assumption at this point. This ARG could give us back story like the Cloverfield ARG did or it could be letting us in on some information about the movie it's self. We have so many things pointing us in different time frames. Ie. Rocket Poppeteers site and the Newspaper clipping are from the late 60's early 70's if I'm not mistaken. Everything else is happening now.
I think whatever we find with poppeteers will break this thing wide open... I'm just at a loss as to what to look for there.

i like where youre going with this. Id say it well within reason to think Josh could handle operating the PDP simulator. I mean, im pretty handy with my laptop and getting around the interwebs, but, i wouldnt know the first thing about setting up a web page. So if thats the sole argument as to why it couldnt be Josh behind it, that his web page is amateurish, then thats a pretty flimsy argument. I think this is something we should definitely contemplate. It may come in handy down the road if we believe that it is indeed Josh that is pulling the strings behind the scenes there. Good brainwave Girlfrendonfire. By the way, i have a fire extinguisher here for you if u need it. (pause for groan from audience for bad joke)

I personally am questioning whether or not Josh is pulling the strings.
The PDP-11 Is being remotely viewed, I've been searching around and haven't found a legit software for RemoteVew 2.7 or anything to do with CBC Data copyrights. Anyone who knows how to search for legitimatecopyrights could search more into either properties.
Which leads me to believe this is being controlled by someone with the ability to infiltrate a system via remote access. Not too mention, if this is supposedly happening in real time, who would have access to USAF official files, within a database, and not having the large processing unit itself. (That is with the assumption that AF indeed stands for AirForce.
On a side note, I bet NSA computers are on a fritz with all of the google searches of Dan Morris, AF related PDP-11 usage, and VARIOUS Air Force Bases.

The PDP that Josh is in possession of? Can't recall if it was Kanon that theorized that Josh may be in possession of the PDP that was among the wreckage seen in the S8 trailer, or someone else, but I would think that the answer to that would be "no."
Here's why: With the care that the govt expended in vacuuming up the Roswell site, they would never have left something like a computer that would possibly be containing sensitive information laying around to be picked up by strangers.
I used to work for one of the alphabet agencies and would also bet that the train that we see derailing (in the S8 trailer) would have more than likely been in visual range of low-flying aircraft participating in the transportation of the unit in transit aboard the train; assigned to keep eyes on the mission.
I have not seen this discussed at length, but the Air Force had in commision at the time of the train wreck (1979) the Lockheed C-5 Galaxy, which had a MASSIVE amount of storage space. Check out this link for some pics of the interior, as well as additional info regarding it:

The point I'm leading up to is why not fly out of Area 51 sensitive cargo, rather than utilize a train? I'm sure we'll learn the reason why eventually, I'm just wondering.

Cause it's a movie... they can do whatever they want.

Victor,
Of course "they can do whatever they want", and maybe we'll find out the reason it was ground shipped, rather than flown, in the movie.
The whole idea of my comment was to spark ideas as to WHY it was transferred the way it was.
If you brought up a point, or a question over some point, and someone replied to you "it's just a movie...etc." wouldn't you feel it was a pretty shallow comment?
Come on, if that's the case, why speculate, theorize, or comment on anything? "It's just a movie!"

I was away from this thread for a while, but I love where my original idea has gone.
Xeno Lambrose, I like how you bring up "the reason it was ground shipped", and I did think about that when I first realized in the trailer that whatever "it" is, was able to spin that wheel on the train car, while still hitting the door itself, not to mention make bolts pop out of the metal before it hit the door itself. My original idea for why "it" was ground shipped was because of possible powers it had (telekinetic etc etc), thus causing any possible plane to CRASH.

Just a Shallow thought Despite my previous comment... I have put some thought into this. If you really had A LOT (and I mean A LOT) of crap to move somewhere a train would be the way to do it. While there are other vehicles capable of moving THAT MUCH STUFF at one time, they're a little difficult to move across anything but water. Aircraft, even the Antonov An-225, has a weight capacity. The typical freight train weighs over 20,000 tons. The military have been using trains for transportation since the Old West, I doubt they will stop any time soon. Deep enough for you?
Anyways.... it wouldn't matter if the actual "computer" survived anyways, they had very minute internal memory cores. Now, if the Tape and Tape drive survived it's possible no one would know what was on there until you processed it through another PDP-11 or a emulator/ simulator. I remember Roswell being used as an example of a "Government" clean up, and they didn't do a very good job. There are always things left behind hidden in a culvert or fallen away from the wreck. Anything is possible.
Edited.....
BTW... The question to be asking is why use a train when there are NO railways leading to the Groom lake base. The NTS yes, Area 51 no.

Maybe they use Train becouse it was more ... "traceable" than in a plane...
Also it maybe not supposed to be awake, and the crash was the "clock alarm" for that thing.
