Okay guys, I just got in on this one. Seems really fun. I signed up on the gnome IFILR. org about 15 minutes ago, and I hope I made it in because I noticed on twitter that time was running short for applications. Could anyone tell me how I'm supposed to know if I got in in time?

You're in just fine. The deadline was for (user-generated) recruitment material, like posters and stuffs.

Me - Hey, I've been reading your blog and I was able to find your number, so I want to help you out. Can you tell me about the keypad?

Richard - 0-9, looks like phone keypad layout. 1 2-ABC 3-DEF 4-GHI so on. Multirow LCD that displays what you've entered to the right of it

Me - Alright, well, I have a feeling that the letter contains a coded password to the safe. Can you tell how many characters can be entered? Also, how are you on food and water?

Richard - Water's fine, there's a cooler in the office. As for food I found a box of snacks for the construction workers who were in here a few days ago

Richard - What kind of code you think it has? I looked over the sheet again and it has strange blotches in some place. Was thinking invisible ink? Some dot code ? Dunno

Me - Well, it seems to be a parody of a song from a tv show called Firefly. I've noticed a misspelling or two, but that could've been accidental. Might be part of it. Do you have any way to check for invisible ink?

Richard - Nope. I'm pretty convinced of something though, there are these little blotches next to the beginning of the lines... pretty sure that's some kind of code.

I've tried a Caeser's cipher using the blotched letters at the beginning of the lines, any suggestions?

I just texted him to ask him how he was on cell phone power. Waiting for a reply. Last thing we want is for his phone to die.

Are you referring to the yellow blotches on the sides of the letters?

Yes, I think he is. Some lines don't have the blotches though...

Perhaps we could ask him to take more pictures? Closer up?

The safe is open

I sent my guess as to how to open the safe and it worked:

Quote:
Me: Hey Richard, A friend of mine told me about your blog and your prediciment. I noticed that the poem has 30 lines in it. Can you try using the first letter of each line as the safe code? 2 = ABC, 3 = DEF etc. I posted that on your blog but I don't know if you can read comments from your phone.
+14844466342: (1/2)my god, you're a genius! I entered it and the thing flashed geen and I heard a click. there's a lockbox with a key inside. I dropped the key but I'll
+14844466342: (2/2)find it soon. will report back about contents

I'm texting back saying be careful. It sounds like he's not quite ready to go on with the next part.

Great! I never got any replies so I assumed that the PMs were away or that it had been solved and we were waiting for a reply.

I did a search and didn't see this mentioned so I think it might be new. There's a audioclip from Muggy Gnome up now and there's morse code in it. I've never been very good at morse code puzzles. I just don't have the ear for it. Anyone else want to give it a try?

Also I hear some glass crashing at the end of the clip. Maybe from Richard knocking over the lazer thing? Are the gnomes broadcasting from the warehouse?

Dunno It's on my clipboard? The one that says "Members List". There is a black scroll bar and you slide it down to listen to all the different clips. It doesn't appear that new clips appear at the bottom or top, though. This one was added to the middle. Either that or everyone missed it before, including myself.

It's not on mine. Could you capture the audio somehow?

Wait, I see what appears to be a transcript of the recording recruitment material page, but still no recording. Hmmm.

Edit: And the link you gave doesn't have it either. Am I the only one experiencing this, or are you the only one with the new recording?
