That sounds like a good theory to me. Assuming Ronni is different from Janissary, Ronni is very perceptive to her surroundings, she can think quick and pull facts from seemingly trivial things. I'd say if anybody was going to be a template for an AI, she'd be a prime candidate.

If she is Janissary though, I wonder where along the storyline this takes place.

 		SB your time line is way out. Ronnie is in college. Jan is in Highschool. The decission to recruit Ronnie came after the slipstream crash, which is when Durga arrived (and not yet named.)

Is it stated somewhere that Ronni's in college? I missed that.

Edit - She does talk about a Professor that teaches Cultural Anthropology, but she never said she was in the class. Though it does sound like she sees him pretty often.

yeah, when she's talking to the spy test guy. In, erm, formal_wear I think.

Does anyone else think that the Professor she mentions is the one we hear talking in candidate, with the "soft professor job"? Seems fairly obvious to me...

 		Her college professor made the initial recruitment. ahh, well she might have graduated since she doesn't mention classes.

Professor Avi is probably not a new character, but the the person talking to the Old Man in key_lime. I believe that it is Ronni's sister in Kentucky she is talking to (the other girl says"Oh, that reminds me, mom said to tell you she heard about the guy--". This would all be consistent with things Prof. Avi? says about her in the key_lime conversations.

 		Here's a thought for everyone to ponder... these are the first wav files that we got that weren't obtained by hotting axons. Obvious, I know, but think about it for a second... we definitely WEREN'T supposed to know this stuff (yet).

It can be argued that the recipe3 stuff is stuff were not supposed to know too, but at least they came with axons. Yes, they were hidden, but it was still Melissa who answered the phones and asked the questions, was it not? So maybe the recipe3 stuff was just meant for special eyes, but it was meant for someone.

These new files we obtained when SP commandeered them for us. Maybe Melissa was going to give them to us in the next round, maybe not. Either way, she didn't mean for us to have them yet. Why?

I agree that the Professor is most likely the Old Man from key_lime/candidate. That's who I thought of when I first heard Ronni talking about him being a spy.

The only thing that throws me off is when Ronni says "Give your mom a hug for me." on the phone with the woman from Kentucky. I thought that Ronni was just close to her friend's mother, close enough that her friend could just refer to her as mom. -shrugs-

But it's likely that Ronni is from the same town in Kentucky either way.

I missed the "Hug your mom". I think you are right on all counts.

I read this as 'she's holding them back because she isn't really sure she's talking to her crew yet'. She doesn't trust us because we haven't hit the magic 777. So, she's hasn't broadcast these yet. We are the security risk. Broadcasting to us may comprimise security.

That's what I was thinking. Blackmail of some sort? If she's afraid the SP would do something, are these wavs supposed to give us some dirt on her? If so, why would the SP help us to find them? It doesn't make sense yet. I can't think of any way these wavs would help her if it was the Flea she was preparing for.

Okay, I see what you're saying. So, assuming we are able to convince her we are trustworthy (are we?), then all we're doing with these wavs now is "eavesdropping on the future"? ^_^
