Subtle as a chainsaw... It's been, what, a week since a "creepy video" trailhead?
The page source has links to NINE different QR code readers.

Was something supposed to happen when you mouse over V other than the screen turns dark?
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The random piece of paper at the bottom right contains a link to a wiki page for QR codes

Video link in source:
http://2ndmass.com/video/comiccon.h264.m4v
Comiccon? So maybe this thing is bigger than it first appears.
Same video different format, this is the one actually shown on the site:
http://2ndmass.com/video/comiccon.theora.ogv
Vapor: Mousing over the V is supposed to show the video above
ETA: After peeking at the source javascript the counter's
actually showing 9 days
(actually I think the counter's broken, at least the display) and as of now doesn't do much.
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
The exact time the counter ends is Thu Jul 22 2010 09:30:00 local because it uses your system clock and thus is susceptible to the set your clock ahead bug. But I don't see what exactly it does right away, in the source all I see is it printing out the word "Now!"
ETA2: The coordinates are also less than 3 miles from comic-con
From the original news article:
Quote:
UPDATE: If this is a Turner property, the most likely candidate is Fallen Skies, the new Steven Spielberg-produced series that has announced plans for Comic-Con.
After reading the synopsis this seems very likely. http://www.comingsoon.net/news/tvnews.php?id=67450

Not sure, here's a direct link to google maps.

Hmm still no video for me. It's probably a quicktime issue. I'm not a big fan of them and apparently neither is my computer.

Well, neither of the videos is a quicktime video, try the other link http://2ndmass.com/video/comiccon.h264.m4v which I just realized has a typo in my post above.
If you still can't get it I'll throw it on youtube.
I highly recommend VLC it can play quicktime videos as well as just about every other kind of video, is freeware and extremely stable. Plus has a screenshot function and can slow videos down, useful for args http://www.videolan.org/
ETA: Here you go Vapor, http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0xtgskggEig just hope TPTB don't mind.

That's the same place I got. If you go to street view you get a intersection in a housing development.

Thanks. It seems to be working on the site for me now. Dunno what it was.
Agreed that this looks like it could be for Falling Skies. Also agreed that Falling Skies sounds like it'll be damn good.
Looks like we might need to wait until comicon for our answers.

I think the video was updated with more precise coordinates, as the ones I just read off of the 2ndmass.com site actually point to the northern corner of the San Diego Convention Center.
Those Coordinates are 32.708N, 117.164W Link -> http://maps.google.ca/maps?q=32.708N%2C%20117.164W&oe=utf-8&rls=org.mozilla:en-GB:official&client=firefox-a&um=1&ie=UTF-8&sa=N&hl=en&tab=wl

Anyone going? This is just a guess ( ) but you might want to bring a QR Code reader enabled cell phone. Or take really crisp clear pictures of any you might find.

That's funny that they changed the coords, wonder if they changed anything else....*goes to check*
ETA: I see a flash version of the video now: http://2ndmass.com/video/comiccon.flash.flv
And now when the timer ends it does literally nothing.
They are obviously watching us

Why would they watch UnForums' it is not like we have the best and brightest people cracking every ARG's hardest codes in minutes of it being published. Or people from all over the world and all walks of life working together for one goal.
OH WAIT.. That is exactly what we have and why those here lead the charge...
Carry On

Just got wind of this via the San Diego Comic Con Unofficial Blog:
http://sdccblog.com/the-falling-skies-viral-begins-and-teases-sdcc-surprises/1063/
Anyone else receive any packages?
As for the coordinates, they are *very* close to where the Falling Skies panel will be (San Diego Convention Center, Room 6A), so I'm assuming either something will happen during the panel - or, the whole thing is just to get people to the panel Either way, it's on my schedule so I'll report more as soon as I hear/see it
