Q. What are the #TRON names for the following characters? Kevin Flynn, Alan Bradley, Lora Baines, and Ed Dillinger?
if im not mistaken Dillinger also played the MCP
IMDB's Tron entry confirms it. I had no idea!

That question makes no sense. Those are names from Tron. Does it mean what are the names of the program analogues of these various people?

Mmmm, I think IMDB may have slipped on this one. Dillinger did the voice of the MCP, but when the MCP is killed, we see an actor playing him for a brief second who is NOT Dillinger. I've attached a screenshot below.

Minor point of interest. I never noticed until a few years ago when I read the Tron novelization (yes, I did it and I'm not ashamed to admit it). The book describes the surprise of the characters when they see the MCP using "an old-fashioned keyboard!" (I could be wrong about the exact wording). What surprised me at the time was that I never thought of keyboards as being old-fashioned in the 80's, although to be fair you never see any keyboards in the digital world. Once you look at exactly how he is using it, however, you realize he isn't using a keyboard so much as something akin to a stenography machine. Take a look. When you watch in the film, you'll see he "types" by tapping each hand, rather than using fingers on individual keys, almost like he is using petals, perhaps the idea being that he communicates with 0's and 1's or something. If you listen, you'll also notice that the sound effect is clearly that of a typewriter.

I don't use twitter much why does it say pending when I try to follow flynn_lives?

END OF LINE.

I sent a follow request as well. The "Pending" message means they have their tweets locked and only those they alow to follow can read them. The Locked Tweets will probably change once they start using the account. They'll open it so anyone can follow. I also sent them a tweet, just to see what would happen.

Hunh. I realized that since I had the movie out anyway I could just check the credits. Oddly enough, it doesn't list the actor for the MCP. For that matter, the cast list is way at the end of the credits, and only actually accounts for a fairly small number of cast members.

And now would someone please tell me what the hell is supposed to be on Dumont's head? I've been trying to figure that out for 30 years...

The MCP wouldn't resemble Dillinger because it's not HIS program, it's a conglomeration of thousands of programs (by that point) the MCP has accumulated, which is why its digital face doesn't look like any one person. It has generic human-face features... and that's also why it's face doesn't resemble the little old man-program at the heart of it all.

Also, if the actor playing the old-manMCP wasn't credited in the film, it's not surprising IMDB doesn't list him either. After all, IMDB is user-updated, not official — and notoriously incomplete or incorrect accordingly. Very Happy

Oh, I quite agree. My point is that saying that Dillinger "played" the MCP isn't exactly right since he did the voice, but not the person. It's like saying James Earl Jones was Darth Vader, when one can also say that he wasn't the actor in the suit.

Actually, not quite true. Dillinger did write MCP, at least the original chess program. When the guys are breaking in and Dillinger is having the convo with MCP about how the MCP wants all the blueprints for the militery hardware and he doesn't need humans anymore, Dillinger says "Now wait a minute. I wrote you!" and MCP says "I've gotten 2415 times smarter since then"

Of course, then Sark gets uppity and points out "A user even wrote you!" to which MCP replies "No one user wrote me. I'm worth millions of their man years." Which suggests a truly ludicrous amount of work having gone into development of a chess game.
