18:51, Burbank, California

18:51 AMC Theatre axon in Burbank, California is hot. This is swiftly becoming my favorite axon: only one phone from which to choose; never in use (so far); rings audibly; Melissa always understands me after only two or three tries...and, once again, I was the only one there today, so no fighting over who gets to listen. Mr. Green

I'd post a summary, but I see we got exactly 5/5 today, so the .wav is unlocked. Go thermostat!

(Unfortunately, I didn't make it back to the Glendale Galleria in time for the 19:13 phone call. Darn traffic. Sad )

I got the Oklahoma city axon of Twenty_percent hot. Kinda surprized it's not live today since it only required two connections...

It seems like it will most likely fit in after the in_each_pit file. It's kamal talking with the casino owner about some guys that seem to be counting cards. The casino owner then tells Kamal that if he can figure out how they're doing it he'll give him twenty percent of the money that the guys have more or less stolen from him. The owner never says an amount, so he must of written it down or something because Kamal is rather impressed at the amount he would make.

Boston area update:

* 06:13 (Super stop & shop, South Bay Center, Dorchester): phone identified (inside, on outer wall of left [Mass Av] end of the customer service desk) but was three minutes too late (#@$@#% morning traffic) to enhottenate.

* 06:47 HOT. Avatrix wasn't able to make it today, though. Avatrix, any chance you could back me up at 06:13 or, failing that, try for the Coolidge Corner axon at 06:07?

6:23 is not when the sun rises

"No, the sun is NOT up this early..." I think to myself, answering my own question from yeseterday. It's dark. As dark as it was when I went to sleep last night. I had emailed the Sleeping Princess that I was going to be at this axon this morning, thinking that something different may happen. Found the only phones close enough to the coords. Two phones adjacent to one another at a bus stop. By this time, I figure it's got to be this set. So I'm standing buy these phones, with other people waitng for buses etc. The phone on the left rings. I answer, it's Melissa. I said "Greene" two or three times, and she finally accepts it. I listen to the wav, repeat once, say "continue", etc. Eventually the line goes dead. I can only imagine what the people waiting for the bus were thinking, "This guy walks up to a payphone that rings moments later, says a codeword, and the leaves! It must be terrorists!" Heh. Briefly I look around the phone, underneath it etc, to see if maybe something was left for me by the SP. Nope, nothing but sleeping bums. The sun is still not up, but the 6:23 axon is hot.

So as of this morning (pre 5:59PDT) we were at 627/777 axons with 7/19 wav files.

Yesterday by this time (8:25PDT) we had gotten 13 axons hot, today we have gotten 5. Slowing down yes, but not too badly. If we can keep this pace up plus have a great weekend of enhottenating, we might just make it to 777 this round. I for one, even with all the enjoyment that enhottenating has been, would love to move onto the next round, whatever that may be. (nice work on the SP puzzle yesterday by the way)

Team Boise reporting: 3/3 axons enhottenated yesterday.
Team Idaho (now that we've added a member in Moscow): 3/5

We're hoping to get the Moscow thin_kinkle today (though it is a never before hot axon, hopefully things will go well and) along with the Lewiston 10:43PDT. If the fable Moscow axon works out, then we might be able to convince the guy to get there at 6:31 in the morning tomorrow for the comatas Moscow axon. Convincing a freshman college student to be awake at 6:30 in the morning is difficult, let alone awake, aware, and waiting outside for a payphone to ring. Smile

Eh... 6:30am is easy if it's a good night out... it's just making sure the student's sober enough to remember what to say at the phone Wink

Good luck!

True enough, I'm not usually out of the bar until 7:30am on a good night... although I'm usually pretty sober by then 'cause they stop serving at 3:00am and I have to drink a lot of water to stay hydrated on the dance floor. Heh, Clubbin' rocks!

Ballet transcript

I listened to my camcorder tape of "ballet" about twenty times and prepared the following transcript:

Gene: (very quiet, beckoning, something like "come on" or "come to me" or even "honey bee"??)

Jan: Big dog, …there's always a bigger dog

(Scuffling sounds, sound like a knife hitting pavement and skidding)

Gene: Yuh ,uh ,uh! (groaning)

Jan: Damn! You're going to want to put some ice on that. (Jan's "Damn" is intoned a lot like Jersey's)

Gene: Huh, you've got quick feet

Jan: All those years of ballet. You gonna go get that knife.

Gene: Now there's people watching you know, ….to make sure I do this thing. They're gonna see everything.

Jan: I can see why you get your dates at gun point.

Gene: Justnotyoutoknow (? This sounds clear, but I still can't understand it)

Jan: Come on Gene get the knife, …go for that (six) under your jacket.
(short wind-down)

I agree with TheSmakus that it comes right after "big_dog".

How does Jan know Gene's name?

If they try, it's the only phone banks in the bus station, and it'll be the one farthest away from the door that they're near.

edit: That's a DALLAS area axon. -- AD

Ok, lit this one up, but accidentally said continue instead of repeat, so I don't have a recording. But it was something about a cop telling someone to put their hands up, then someone from animal control shows up about some ?honey badgers?. Then klaxons sound and the sprinkler system goes off.

Probably says "Just want you to know" or "Just wanted you to know"

I officially give up.
After spending all of lunch yesterday and today walking in circles looking for payphones for the 08:59-09:09 Axons, I can't do it anymore.

I'll hot up the downtown axons, since I know where they are, but the block-o-six can stay cold.

I think I lost Marq.

Bleh!

Dallas Axon Updates

Ok, here's what we know about locations for Dallas (not including Mesquite
as I don't know those)
32.776608 -96.807302
These are in Union Station. If you are entering from the street, as you approach the phones, it will be the first one (you can also think of it as the one farthest from the doors next to the phones).

32.778833 -96.807833
Despite the location on maps and whatnot, this is actually in the Visitors center (the building that looks like a castle). There are 2 phones in there, it's the one on the left.

32.804062 -96.789194
Despite the coordinates, this is actually in the Target. As you enter, turn to your right, and the phones are by the bathroom. It'll be the left most phone. On the first round of Axons, there were other coordinates that were more accurate.

32.778333 -96.807433
These are also in the visitor center, the phone on the right.

32.779197 -96.806054
This one we've been unable to locate. There is a phone on the corner right at this coordinate. It states it doesn't accept incoming phone calls, but does ring. Attempts to answer it at the correct time are fruitless, it's always the dial tone, even trying to pick it up seconds to minutes after the scheduled time. Can't find any other possible phones near it.

wtg Ranger D! That's a good way to begin your day.

For the axons we got yesterday, I had e mailed the Sleeping Princess. I told her about nine of the twelve (because I wasn't certain I'd make it to the earlier ones when I e mailed her). Anyway, there was nothing at any of those locations either (you were with us for two of them), not that I really expected anything special. Aren't additional audio files enough? Wink

posture_counts axon

I just came from enhottenating posture_counts. I"m the only person there (outside of the people going to the bathroom. See the video for clarification). Here's a transcript of the audio. I recored it as a voice memo on my Samsung A500. If you know of a way to move the file off of the phone, I'll be more than happy to upload it.

The first few seconds were cut off.

<cut off>
Female:…now From the top. And remember posture counts.
There's the gun. Pick it up. Comone big dog. Let's go again

Male: <uninteligable>
Male screams in pain

F: and here we are again. Aww, the choreography is there but I'm not feeling it the way I want to

Male: <gasping>who are you!!

F: Alright back on your feet

I'm jujst going to put the gun in your hand. That's it. Get your fingers nice and comfy right on the trigger. Come on big dog! Bring it baby!

M: Die bitch!
<gun shot>
