Neither is EA - both look like name aggregators or squatters.

I found pi to one million decimal places (attached) and have been checking it against the numbers in the source.

The numbers after each set of ellipsis do occur within pi but there are some irregularities. I'm not sure if the irregularities are caused by different computation methods or if the numbers were omitted on purpose. For example, the first string of numbers is found at decimal places 684 through 706:

Code:
48184676694051320005681

Then in the source there is a missing number 2 (decimal place number 707). Then it continues on accurately with decimal place 708 through 712.

Code:
71452

The in the source there is an extra number 6 (before decimal place 713)

It continues on like this with large chunks of numbers that are found withing pi to the millionth decimal place with scatterings of irregularities.

It would take far too long to note every single irregularity though, so I am hoping it's not necessary for this solve. I just wanted to point out that it is in fact pi.

ETA: Also attaching the samping from the source in case it is changed again.

Awesome find there Vapor. I didn't even think to check that, just assumed it wasn't PI.

So I did the first two lines by hand thinking it wasn't that bad...yeah it would have taken forever you're right. Anyway I wrote a script that did it all for me Very Happy I had it insert an M before every missing digit in PI, then I opened wordpad and was going to highlight every missing digit. Even that would have taken forever so I'm afraid you guys just get the text with M's inserted. I did also have it print out the missing digits to a text file. I'm attaching the first set of ellipses as that's all I've done so far, but as soon as I do the others i'll attach those as well.

Edit:
I've removed the files I had attached so I could just add a zip file with all of them, I wasn't going to attach 14 text files.

Missing digits in each set:
0) 0 (3.14)
1) 149
2) 22
3) 44
4) 29
5) 36
6) 43
7) 15

One thing I didn't count was the number of digits between sets of pi, not sure it will matter though. Alright this is me handing this off to Vapor and Toasty and anyone else who thinks they can crack the code. There is a small chance I made an error here or there as there were aspects I did by hand, such as selecting out the bits of PI the ellipses referenced and removing the line breaks. So if you find something that works but a digit or two is off check my work before you scrap your idea.

In the missing files I put digits that were missing in sequence on the same line. There were never more than 3 digits missing in sequence.

Nice work so far guys. Was hoping I was wrong about Pi. For now I'm going to assume that the ellipses don't matter and were just meant to get us to those specific sections of Pi. Why those specific sections is a bit of a mystery, especially if only removing single digits...

Yeah I just hope all the work I put into that was worth it, even with the script it probably took me about two hours, including writing the script.

* AzureWolf * waits for Toasty to work his magic on the missing digits... Razz

Awesome work Azure. I know your script counted the missing digits but did it also include instances where digits were added? There was and extra 6 added before decimal place 713 for example.

I'll look over the results and see if I can spot any patterns later today. Unless someone beats me to it.

No my script specifically compared the two, it found no added digits. If you check the output by deleting the M's with find/replace it matches PI exactly. It's also verifiable by counting characters (with a word processor preferably Razz).

I tried looking for what you mention but I see no 6 near the 713th decimal. This section here, which I believe encompasses the 713th decimal is the exact same in the spore text and for PI "9956112129021960864034418159" if you do a ctrl-f it's easy to find in both texts.

Oh, yeah you're right. Last night I was switching back and forth between txt files and must have gotten the two confused. Here is what I meant.

Code:
Pi text - decimals 709 - 720
714526356082

Code:

Spore text -
71452356082

There is in fact a missing 6 and not an added 6 like I originally thought.

Wow, Nice work Scratch, how long did that take you? Nice to be playing a game with you again, though I'm not sure how much I'll be active in this one, just saw a way I could help out so I did.

Also was just thinking about it and it would have been really easy, because of the way BB tags work, to have my script highlight via BB tags... Rolling Eyes

It's beginning to look like picking out the missing digits was the easy part.

So far I'm not seeing any patterns. There are some numbers repeated a lot (5 and 11 for example) but there are also a lot that are not repeated at all. The spaces between missing numbers is kind of random.

I did figure out the decimal place ranges for the sections in case it has any importance:

Section 0 - decimal places 1 to 2 (3.14)
Section 1 - decimal places 685 to 2,288
Section 2 - decimal places 2,563 to 2,793
Section 3 - decimal places 3,447 to 4,018
Section 4 - decimal places 4,203 to 4,521
Section 5 - decimal places 4,627 to 5,016
Section 6 - decimal places 5,309 to 5,769
Section 7 - decimal places 5,798 to 6,036

I'll keep looking at it but it may just be that we need to save this info as piece of a larger puzzle later down the line.

DarkSpore.com has changed.
It's now a full-fledged DarkSpore site.

If you look at the source, there is a comment:
Help Us! helpedna.com

Helpedna.com appears to be the old DarkSpore.com, but there is a much different source. There is a comment:

XMIT1 is still the same.

XMIT2 has changed. It still looks like binary and I still don't know what to make of it.

The pi puzzle is exactly the same.

And there's pi at the bottom, once again missing numbers:

So yeah.

Yeah the cenimatic looks pretty good. The ARG player in me kept replaying and looking for hidden clues. With the introduction of helpedna.com I think we'll see a full ARG come out of this. At least I hope.
