Funny you should mention that, from Mulligan earlier today on Twitter:

Quote:
@simonpegg I wants ta follow you on the twitters, but the Captain (@sodoffbuggers) says I'm not allowed. Bullocks is what I says!
about 3 hours ago via Seesmic

Also lots of HIGH-LARIOUS new pics on the facebook site and a claim about the ship they found at the WTC site. [edit: "they" meaning not the pirates, but normal humans excavating the site]

There's also some mention of a Johnny Longbottoms on the FB site:

Quote:
Embarrassed about throwing Johnny Longbottoms overboard, Captain pretends he doesn't see Crothers, and Crothers pretends he can't see Captain.

And more infectious cuteness.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
edit2: har har har they can't sees each other on account of their trick eyes a piece, har har.

OK. Count me in on this one. I'm 20 minutes outside NYC and about 5 from Staten Island. If anyone needs me to go check something out let me know.

So the Facebook photo album is called "'tween wind and water"

which a google search leads to a Shakespearean quote, also used by Fletcher in Elder Brother, and summarized here

http://books.google.ca/books?id=2XtWDhgljvkC&lpg=PA425&ots=S9XMtXS-fM&dq=tween%20wind%20and%20water&pg=PA425#v=onepage&q=tween%20wind%20and%20water&f=false

which, if I have this right, talks of pirates and particularly associates people from Dunkirk with venereal disease. Which all seems appropriate to the Captain and his crew. So my question is, is there anything in NYC particularly associated with Dunkirk?

That is awesome!

And, holy crap, they got a real movie voice guy to do it! This is certainly not low budget.

if anyone notices at 4:13 you can properly read the poser behind crothers

a before padded playground production
costarring mulligan and toshiro nakadai as bl....
written by johnney longbottoms produced by...
directed by film director
color by crayoli locations provided by jim beard
soundtrack available for listening at videos.com

obviously the johnny longbotoms and crayoli are jokes, crayoli referring to crayola the crayon company. looking up toshiro nakadai brought me to a movie actor, tatsyua nakadai.
can anybody find anything on before padded playground productions?

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Tatsuya_Nakadai <link to wiki article on tatsuya nakadai, whose name bears a resemblance to toshiro's or tom as they like to call him

after reading up on tatsuya nakadai, i found that his director had a falling out with toshiro mifune. toshiro+nakadai=toshiro nakadai, or tom

this leads me to believe between this coincidence and atomic line's discovery of the simon pegg thing, i'm fairly certain this has to do with movies. of course there's still the possibility it's all just coinincidence

same thoughts affecting people

watched it - then remembered the poster - started looking at it closely and was going to post then realised others had done the same AT THE SAME TIME *GRIN*
s - before padded playgrounds - all I got was a blog talking about how things were different before such...
http://markerich.com/refractory-period.html

then was going to find the 'tom' info - again beaten to it - thinking links with simon pegg has potential but not going to count any chickens yet...
I still like the They might be Giants link in my head with sock puppets and loving new york idea I came up with while at the gig!

Larry McFinniga [n]?
EDIT: no person I could find via google searching - larry finnegan on imdb in a film called haunts - BUT really unlikely linked- wrong topic etc...

EDIT2 - What is Jim Beard providing?? Location? Thought at first Longbottom ut there's no tail on the 'g' - it sorta looks like location...

http://www.jimbeard.com/

jim beard

This guy is a strong candidate for something...

Quote:
Jim moved to New York in 1985 and quickly established himself in the contemporary jazz community. Within a year of arriving, he became a touring member of John McLaughlin's Mahavishnu Orchestra , started working relationships with Bill Evans (saxophonist) and Mike Stern and had recorded with Dave Liebman. He also began producing many successful recordings for artists such as Mike Stern, Bob Berg. Bill Evans (saxophonist) and Eliane Elias. In 1986 he began a working relationship with Wayne Shorter that lasted until 2000. In 1988 he became a member of John Scofield's band and he toured the world in 1992/1993 with Pat Metheny's 'Secret Story' project.
Jim established himself as a writer during his early New York period by contributing compositions to Michael Brecker and John McLaughlin recordings. Jim is noted for a uniquely eclectic and often whimsical compositional style which can run the spectrum from rich and deeply wild to melodic and childlike. His compositions and arrangements can incorporate elements of humor, unpredictability and classical forms. Many of Beard's compositions have been recorded by top jazz artists, for example "The Wait" by John McLaughlin; "Riddle Me This" by Bob Berg; "In The Hat" by Victor Bailey; "Ode to the Doo Da Day", "Quiet City" and "The Gentleman and Hizcaine" by Michael Brecker and "I'll Miss You" by Bill Evans (saxophonist).

my bolding for emphasis...

Sent him this:
Quote:
Good evening/time of day Sir,

Your name has featured on a floating black board that some pirates were interviewed by recently. Wondering if you know anything of this and if so, what your involvement may be?
If no - as you are New York based, it may be something you could be interested in anyhow??!
www.welostourgold.com

Thanks to them, I have now discovered your jazz which I will be listening to more tomorrow anyhow - hope things are good with you either way Sir
Paul xxxxx, an English teacher who should be in bed but it is too hot and my mind is busied with puppet pirates hiding gold in foreign cities!!!

All the stuff on the poster is fake, imho. not just fake, but fake fake, as in, not actual clues.

Just me 2 farthings.
