For the record, I'll be at SDCC again this year (as I have for the past.. wow, 8 years now?). More than likely I'll be in the Hall H line between 7-7:30AM JUST to make sure.

It's really too bad SDCC doesn't give (non "accredited) Press special access to the room - I really hate waiting in that Hall H line :p Happily, the weather is expected to be mild the entire 4 days - partly cloudy and high's of 68 - so heat exhaustion isn't going to be an issue but bring your sunblock anyway Smile

If you're looking for me, I'll be the longhaired redhead with the grey fedora and PRESS badge tucked in the brim Smile Hope to see you there!

I'll definitely keep an eye out for you!

The reason you don't get early access as PRESS is because the show is about the fans... who actually bought their tickets. With the amount of registered press that show up, HALL H would be full by the time paying badge holders got there.

You definitely have a point Smile I've only been going as Press for 3 years and it's truly the *only* way I could have afforded to go, so I definitely appreciate just being in the room Smile Still, can't help but be jealous of all those deemed to be "better Press" than the rest of us Sad

Signs!

Hiyo…

I mentioned this way way back, but I'm finally sitting down and putting this all together at home tonight and tomorrow (yup, last minute, yay!)

I'm gonna do something similar to what I had at the SF Encom press conf, making some fun signs to show around:

… But this time I'm going to be printing out a few more designs! It would be cool to bring these to the panel, and maybe try and get close to the stage when the TRON: Legacy cast and crew go up, or bring them out to Flynn's Arcade.

Just opening it up to all of you in case you had thoughts, comments, ideas.

The designs ideas I have now and are putting together:

1. Flynn Lives "headshot" (what I had at WonderCon, tweaking it a little)
2. The good ol' "FLYNN LIVES" white logotype on black background
3. Sam's 89 shield/crest logo
4. Space Paranoids (similar to the postcard art, maybe?)

… Hopefully more?

Other notes:

- Signs are 20'' width x 32'' height, which is kinda perfect, because they'll fit in the giant Comic-Con swag bags that are given to each attendee, http://www.comic-con.org/cci/cci_pr10_wbtv_bags.php
- These signs will be really simple in design so they can be easily seen in the crowds and from afar.
- Printing them out b&w/grayscale so the cost is fairly cheap to print and I can make a bunch.
- Mounting them on light but sturdy foamcore, which I found out at WonderCon can take-on a surprisingly good amount of wear and tear!
- Definitely trying to keep these signs grounded in the ARG universe (so not thinking of like Jeff Bridges suited up in the TRON world)
- Though, I would like to do something TRON-ish, maybe just the logo like from the arcade cabinet?
- Something ENCOM would be neat, but not sure if it should be something with the logo, or a message like "ENCOM needs FLYNN!" or something like that.

Let me know what you think! Also, if you're interested and you're going to SDCC, PM me, and I can try hook you up with a sign- if I can make enough!

I'll be uploading pics of the designs throughout tonight as I get through them…!

The Jeff Bridges "Flynn Lives" signs are pretty freakin' cool! I'd wave one of them!

I can help you knock out those first three easily... Wink

I'll also be there

Don't know how early I can get in line, but I'll at least be wearing my Sam Flynn 89 pin on my hat, possibly my Encom badge as well. Hopefully if something goes down out there we can figure out how to get in contact with each other. Anyone starting a list or something so we can text each other while on the floor (or anything else)? I would definitely like to know what happens when that timer expires while we're in the panel. I've heard that sans phone access, getting on the 'Net on the con floor is a REAL pain, so it might help to have some keyboard folks that we can somehow keep in contact with the same way we did for the SF event.

I'll have my netbook, but unless I can snag an iPhone tomorrow, I don't think I'll have too much of a way to get on (only have an iPod touch right now).

Someone should have a screening of the original TRON at Comic Con. That would be fun one night. Perhaps at the park?

Thursday, July 22nd
Marriott, Marina Ballroom D
6:05pm - 7:40pm Tron

That's great! Is there anyone from the original TRON attending? Is it just a showing? Would you like me to see if Cindy Morgan (Lora/Yori from TRON) would like to attend for a Q&A? E-mail me at retrorandy at sbcglobal.net.

This is just one in a "Film Fest" type thing with around 30 films/TV Shows in various locations over four days for attendees. I've never gone to any of the them but I don't believe that it's anything more than a screening.

VERY cool though...still might be fun to have Cindy show up and answer a few questions before or after if they don't mind. Will think about it.

Does anyone have a contact name for the people who set these screenings up? Still would be cool to have Cindy there & maybe introduce the film in the beginning or a brief Q&A.

Would love to see a "Yori LIVES" sign:

How late is too late to get to Hall H to get a seat for TRON Legacy? If you get there at 7 or 8 that's a pretty long wait to get a seat.

Maybe at 9PM you'd still get in, but your seat wouldn't be so great which I don't mind? Hard to know, but there will probably be a huge turnout for this thing.

I'll be camping out Wednesday night for the panel, have to sit through megamind to guarantee a good spot, so feel free to come sneak into line where I am if you like. I'll have a Sam's Comics hat on with the 89 and paranoids pins and an old school Flynn's Arcade shirt. Also this year one of the Hilton hotels in the area will be handing out pillows and water for people doing this.

I think the 89 Forever logo is the hallmark of the really deeply involved Tron ARG player. Its much less known, and thus far not in nearly so widespread use.

I'll be tracking both the panel and whatever happens at the/ identityraid site online for any new details. You guys will be the first to know what happens at both!

Agreed, I'm working on it now. Wish I could be at SDCC to pimp it myself, but at least Blink and the rest of the folks will be representing the movement. Cool

iPhone Tron app

I was goofing around with the new iPhone Tron app that was released yesterday and I noticed that it asks for a login! Unfortunately, I couldn't login with my Flynn Lives account but it strangely wouldn't accept my Flynn Lives account name... said it was inappropriate! (it's not)

There are a lot of cool things to do in the app as it not only has a game, but links to the trailers of the video game and movie... AND a ComiTron section!

When you access the ComiTron section, you are prompted to let the app use your location and then it provides a simple info page of the Tron panel time and the booth location.

Now, there is already a thread about this app, but seeing how this affects the comic-con panel directly, I thought I would post this here for everyone to see and to get teh warning out....

GET THE IPHONE TRON APP IF YOU ARE GOING TO THE PANEL! Wink

(Oh, and the app description says that it will evolve on 0722 at ComiTron... but in binary.)

Oh, and this is my first post here but I've been following this ARG and forum since Flynn's Arcade last year. I met a few of you at the SanFran event (Blink, I'm the guy who borrowed you laptop to charge my iPhone!)

Thank you all for solving the puzzles and working together! Woot

I really like the 89 Forever logo… I'm thinking I might have the sign be more like a shield, and cut it out that way. I'll try and make a couple of them.

Just PM'd you with some files. You should be covered on the 89 Forever logo now. Wink
