I recall in early Slendy mythos that he took away children that would grow up to be, "monsters."
I don't recall it being explained what that was supposed to mean, but I took it to mean that he took kids that would grow up to be rapists, mass-murderers, etc.

...Seemed relevant.

I definitely agree that SM is a force, rather than a being. What with the whole "flood" thing, we should be equating him to a natural disaster.

I completely disagree. I believe instead that slendy is a being, but completely unlike anything known. A true unknown.

isn't it mentioned in slenderman's past that he often (somehow) makes use of fire to burn down buildings? (Jay's old apartment, cystw's house (which resulted in the death of her parents), the 'Stirling City Library blaze') considering how water puts out fire, could that have something to do with this?

Maybe all of this talk of water and floods is tapping into some sort of way of getting rid of or getting away from Slenderman. It stands to reason that anything that could get rid of such a tenacious nasty would itself be pretty dangerous, so that brings the 'ark' into it. The flood is the cure for Slenderman, but you have to also stay safe from the cure yourself, and so, an ark of some sort.

Anyway, I like the idea of a story about being caught helpless between two big nasty forces and the very best that the characters can do is to survive.

I'm super sorry for posting as a guest and all, especially if this has been noted before, but I figured this was worth mentioning: A lot of the side stories tie Norse mythology in to the Slender mythos. I'm completely willing to chalk that up to the fact that most of the people who do side stories have been reading too much House of Leaves.
However, the Norse creation myth involves a massive flood(CANYOUSEETHEWORDS?) of blood from a slain giant, which Odin killed. The only two surviving frost giants survived by hiding in a hollow in a tree trunk(get up high?). It's that particular mythos' "deluge" myth. I'm not sure if it wiped out the fire giants. Also, Loki was the God of mischief, but also considered the God of fire. He was a shapeshifter. Who was bound with his son's organs.
One of the Norse crosses, one form of a "sun wheel", was the Operator symbol, and there are masks of Loki that look... Unsettlingly similar to a certain someone's mask.
Jafool seemed to imply that Slender Man was a giant, or maybe that was UF, I don't remember very well.
This part sort of chilled me, by the way: The description of Ragnarok, the Norse end of the world, involves Loki breaking free, all the worlds ending in fire and flood, and a single man and woman surviving by hiding in the world tree, Yggdrasil. Could all these hiding trees be considered arks?
Thus I end my irrational, ignorant theorizing with no real point. And probably off topic.

Lurkerpants: Apologies and shame on me -- I'll be good!

The deadline: Awww crap, that's not nearly enough time to draw anything half-decent on the schedule that I'm working! Oh well, it's a fun idea in any case!

Floods and gods and Slender-doom: All of this talk of Slender Man being huge and otherly and we never see much more than noodle-arms, a sharp suit, and a pantie-hose-covered face. I hope that if they are making such great and sweeping allusions that they'll find some way to make us feel that this is really happening, somewhere, to one of the protagonists. Completely fucking Jay over is probably the closest that I think anyone's gotten to making that happen and instead of using Slender Man himself, they achieved that mostly through the use of TTA!

How the heck did I miss this one for so long? This is the only other Slenderman ARG that's really caught my interest since MH. Now that I've read the thread, here, a couple comments.

First off, this thing really should have its own forum. Very Happy

Secondly, I think we can all sort of agree that marble hornets is definitely a big source of inspiration for these guys, and they're maybe even taking large chunks of their own mythology from the marble hornets universe, so using them as a reference point isn't a bad idea. Everyone else noticed 'theark' written on the box, right?

Now, in marble hornets, I seem to recall that water was a big deal for a while. partially because of some TTA vids, and partially because the distortion seemed to kick in 110% whenever water was on screen. Is it possible the EMH guys are extrapolating on that, somehow?

Huh, she posted an OKGO song, "This too shall pass."

I wonder what that could mean...

this also might have been posted previously, but has anyone else noticed that the "drawing mannequin" in Vinnie's office changes positions in every shot so far?
It hasn't moved in any significant way so far, it's just lowered its arms.
But it might be something to keep an eye on I think.
ALSO, there was also a mannequin in one of the totheark vids, which I know aren't necessarily connected, but maybe it's just a reference, since this is also centered around Slendy.

I always thought that the mannequin was a reference or homage to Marble Hornets. Neat that it's been moving its arms slowly downwards, though!
