My cousin says that "y dyn tal tenau" should translate to something like "the tall thin man" if literal, but if you were trying an adaptive translation, "tal tenau" would be translated as "slender." So, it's essentially "the slender man."

As for TYLWYTH TEG, it's essentially the Welsh equivalent of the Fair Folk. According to the same cousin, if someone met the Fair Folk face-to-face, they would call them by a polite name in order not to offend them; with luck, the tylwyth teg (which is one of these polite names) would relent and not do things like switch their baby for a changeling.

Fascinating stuff.

As for the ticking, maybe the number of ticks can be translated somehow? In one of TTA's videos, the one with the upside down 'tick tock', someone used... something, I can't remember what, to translate numbers into YAMA. Perhaps if we can count these ticks and use the same process we'll come up with something else?

That's interesting! Let me make a count. Not counting the ticks in the paragraph breaks (wonder what those mean, though). For each time repeated ticking is shown...

I'd copy/paste the post, but that seems a touch unnecessary!

[edit] New post up. Lots and lots of ticking in this one.

Regarding 3/8/89, the only thing of interest that I could find is:

This seems to be the first "puzzle" post; as in, a post that's almost definitely a crackable code.

Ignoring the ticktickticking (maybe there's something in the number of ticks, separated by spaces? Can we get a tick-count from someone?), I'm interested in the numbers;

0 9
1 8

Maybe it's supposed to be a pattern? The two are at negative... argh, can't think of the words. Oh, I got it: inverse proportion. So the pattern would be something like

0 9
1 8
2 7
3 6
4 5
5 4
6 3
7 2
8 1
9 0

I dunno it it's true, but it's one solution. Maybe the numbers are a clue to the dates?

For the latest entry, the number of ticks are as such:

Quote:
Title: 21

Paragraph 1: 12 (space) 15 (space) 7 (space) 1 (space) 14 (3/8/89, linebreak) (in all caps) 18 (period) 9 (period)

0 9
1 8

Paragraph 2: 15 (space) 14 (space) 5 (linebreak) 4 (space) 15 (space) 23 (space) 14

Each cluster of ticks could represent a phrase, similar to TTA's run-together words with no pauses. Outside of that, I'm not really sure how to start decoding that.

You gotta be kidding me. You sure this isn't some kind of elaborate game jack?!

Surprised I had been thinking that these puzzles were a little more complex than your av-er-age blog... Oooooooh!

Mind = Blown

If this truly isn't a gamejack that is...(I really hope not!)

I never participated in the other one, but even I'm surprised.

I was a bit late to the party on JAFool, but it'd be awesome to see a sequel to it. Unless the writer's trying a gamejack (not sure how the makers would go about "gamejacking", since I've always heard the term in a different context. Has he/they ever posted on the JAFool blog?), he could either be the writer trying a "Part II," or maybe JAFool is canon in this side-story? Or the references to JAFool are just "shout outs," or this is a spiritual successor? I've no idea!

Anyone got any ideas on what "R.I." could stand for?

[edit] New post.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Anticlimax, dude.

The 0918 could flip to 1980; seems like they gave Logan's birthday there, so maybe someone born in 1980 will be next?

I don't think the most recent post is an anticlimax... seems more like it's playing with the same kind of idea as the cat scare, where you build up tension... and then it's just the cat. Conical has disappeared and seems to have gone nuts... and then he's just drunk in a ditch. I'm sure it'll keep going!

As for gamejacking, I'm thinking the same kind of idea as that one slender-blog that stole the Masky idea and used it for their own story; a straight-up copy with slightly different-painted face. I always equated gamejacking with a certain amount of plagiarism and/or concept theft... so if this blog is using Logan and clocks and the same imagery and story bits as JAFool without actually being linked to 'em, that'd be gamejacking!
