How do you discover?

SGkgZXZicnlvbmU= (yeah, it's base 64)

I am kind of new to this ARG. Well, I know stuff about it and how to do it and all. I just was wondering, how does someone discover an ARG to begin with? And, how do they make sure it is an actual ARG?

Side question... What is the NEWEST ARG out and being played?

SGkgZXZlcnlvbmU= [it should 'be'...]

how to people discover an arg - one you're running? - you highlight the fact, you send messages to potential players via means they may know [email, phone etc]
you link this in with previous backstory or such

you put obvious links or key words into it... #arg in twitter for example...

you put spoilers in despoiler...

that help? look at the new thread hint that unfiction does, gives ideas there...

how do you know something is an arg if others also think it is - checking a few ieas - have a look on news/rumours chat with discussion about newest args etc...

check this section of the forum: http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/index.php?f=10 It's where recent finds are discussed and followed until they get enough going to have a forum section of their own.

Joining depends on how the ARG is set up. Some have a place where you can send in your email, and/or phone number. Some might even have a place for you to add your address, but you might want to hold off on that until you are sure it is an ARG and the people running it are not going to sell your info later.

In the Meta/Puppetmaster section I believe there is a Thread labeled "Interaction Thread" where you can leave an email address so future games know you have "opt-in" to be contacted with a trailhead when their game comes out. (edit: it is here
http://forums.unfiction.com/forums/viewtopic.php?t=9306 )

Trail heads can be anything - newspaper ad, video showing a website address, sometimes even smap email.
