Did we know already that the captain was a woman?

Yes. In the Phase 2 Operator's Monologue, Sorenson calls her Ma'am, for one. There are probably others.

Here is how I think the new files line up.

Then Captain Greene's death was either an accident involving a bus, or a cover-up.

After 3 hours of hunting, I'm beginning to fear that cranky_old_man is un-hottable. I waited for it at the only payphone in a 2-block radius that will take calls, but got no love. There are many phones around campus, but almost none of them can take a call... I hate to say it, but we might have to request another location switch for this one (like with standish).

I'll stil give it a shot tomorrow, but barring a miracle, I'm not expecting to get much out of it. Sorry.

Thoth, have you used the payphone directory.org site to look for phones in that area? Then take the addresses of those phones and type them into geocode to see if you get an exact match for the ILB coordinates for cranky_old_man? If you haven't, I suggest you try it. If you get an exact match, call the number on the site to see if its still a payphone. I have a feeling there is a phone somewhere ringing because it the coords weren't changed.

All the payphones listed on that site that are anywhere near the coords don't take incoming calls, and most of them are in university buildings anyway, so the addresses aren't much help (many buildings are too big to use the address as a guide Sad)

I'm going out again tomorrow with an extended search radius. I've already gone through 15 or so campus buildings today, I'll be able to whip through at least ten more tomorrow.

I hear ya. I tried helping you out a little by getting on the university website and plugging the addresses of the buildings around the cranky_old_man coords in geocode but couldn't get an exact match. Sorry

Thanks for the effort though Smile

Like I said, I'm gonna keep on trying (I'll hopefully be hitting both of the MN drink_the_beer axons earlier that morning anyway), but it's awfully rough trying to answer a phone that doesn't seem to be there Sad

< rousing speech >

By hook or by crook we will get this file! If I have to personally spend an afternoon at every payphone on campus to do it, then by george that's what I'll do. If that doesn't work, then we'll get it relocated and another faithful Beekeeper will rise up to take my place, hunting for that elusive phone - forgoing sleep, food, and other 'real life' issues for the furtherance of our noble cause!

Viva la Axons - Viva la Beekeepers!

Right - I aim to be at the London Axon (w00t!) tomorrow (Saturday). Having looked at a nice detailed map and a panoramic view I'm fairly sure that it's the pair of red payphone boxes visible on the panorama on the right of the street that is between the Costa Coffee and the Paradiso.

So, is anyone else planning on being there? For those who aren't sure, the Axon will (hopefully) ring at 18:07 local time, and I plan to be there a bit before then to test the phones etc. With a Costa Coffee so nearby I'm sure I'll be fine, but if anyone else is gonna be heading there, then we should coordinate our efforts, so, PM me, or post in this thread.

- Malrog is happy there's a non-foreign axon. Very Happy

PS: If this is the wrong thread - can someone tell me where I should put this please, thanks?!

To Thoth...

When you say the can't take a call, do you mean that you ring the payphone's number and can't get through, or do you mean that you ring the number and the phone doesn't ring, cos if it's the latter then it could just be a case that the payphone's ringer is broken or disabled, and to activate that Axon you'll just have to pick up the phone at the right time, without it ringing, and hope that you have picked it up at the time when Melissa is calling it.

You're doing a good job - good luck!

Wow, an Axon in London!

I'm considering flying from Rotterdam (The Netherlands) to London for that Axon. Does anyone know how to get from Stansted Airport to that Axon ?

I just need to reschedule some things first. Jeez I wish I had more time to get organized. Rolling Eyes
