Yeah it would be nice if we got something for our efforts so far. Other then a really cool personalized letter.

Give the game time, we've hardly started playing.

I credit JJ/BR/Paramount for making the effort at Comic-Con, and again suggest there is mutual benefit to handing out 'exclusives' at CC to keep it relevant and worthwhile (much more for breaking trailers/ photos/ casting/ panels than merchandise). They're likely going to fall in between the CC schedule for the film's release next summer, so they're doing what they can as a 'small' start to viral publicity at cons now.

Also, since none of the S8 merch shown so far appears to be CC-exclusively branded, odds are it will be given away again in the future to players. Just not first for those few buttons, hats, etc. I highly doubt they'd make a small batch to give away at CC, then never release them again when they could be giveaways for months to come after CC.

Just look at how many Twitter followers the RP account has after CC. No use in being bitter about it, it's about increasing the audience... Which is a good thing for ARGs on the whole. I'm sure they will throw us a bone or two...

Meanwhile my buddy used a pic of my letter and got me the hat and buttons and shirt... Score.

Huh. I got one of those shirts yesterday at Comic Con and had NO IDEA it was for an ARG. I'm also pretty sure that no one around me who ran to get a shirt knew it was for that either (let's face it - people love free shit... especially shirts).

I guess I'm going to have to read into this now...

From what I've heard, most of the folks gathering shirts and buttons and hats have NO IDEA what Rocket Poppetteers is all about!

Zero link to Super 8.
Zero link to Spielberg/Abrams.
Zero link to ... um ... well ... anything (unless they Google).

I sent my bro a copy of the letter; he got a shirt and cap and three buttons and a Rocket pop, and didn't have to show them the letter (or sing a little jingle).

I am leaning back to my first opinion ... That Capt. "Coop" is recruiting "unknowing" figures in a search and destroy mission ala ENDER's GAME/STARSHIP TROOPERS!!

I suppose, they are trying to gather another target group with merchandise, so they would have us - hardboiled viral fanatics - and the merchandise collecting people with no clue.

Well, it's another way to enlarge target group.

I was just thinking the same thing. It has to be to get more people to the RP site.

Well, I'm not american and not that old either but I'd point those nurses outfits to the 50s-60s. Would fit with everything Rocket-poppeteeric we have had so far, though.
To me the most important question seems "why nurses?" and is the guy supposed to be a Doc then?

The uniforms are representing the sterile environment of the ice cream parlors and soda shops from that era.
