[SPEC] New Theory for movie plot

Alrighty folks, first, WOW! Just great job. Ok, that said, here is what I am seeing.

Calling the movie super 8 does not imply that something is being shot on super 8, in fact it more likely means that a super 8 camera is the subject of something else. My suggestion is that the camera recorded something and the movie is about the analysis, study, digging, etc behind what was found.

Here is my plot.

A51 transports "thing" to WPAFB by rail. For whatever reason, a truck derails the train. In the truck, recording for whatever reason, is a super 8 camera, (could also be in the train, not recording, but turned on after the crash). The camera is then lying on the ground, and catches whatever comes barreling out of the rail car. Then the clean up crews arrive. Accident disappears for the most part.

Fast forward to 2002. signs indicating that the creature is still alive and free are popping up and the red lights at A51 start to go off. A major effort to identify, capture (or kill) the creature gets underway. And there is the movie.

Some questions I am seeing in this:

Why the PDP-11? Could be something they are trying to access with vital info about the creature, thing, incident, whatever form the 70's.

Why 2002? The desktop that the PDP-11 sim is running on is not from the 70's, GUI interfaces weren't present back then (at least to my knowledge).

The frequencies are artifacts from the original study of whatever the hell that thing is.

What we are trying to access is the same thing that they are trying to access. The documents that we found, poppeteers, was a message sent to whom ever was part of that crash cover up.

The document that printed saying stop posting publicly is someone contacting a researcher to tell them that he knows whats going on and that he can help them.

just my theory, ill add more as the ideas come.

cool idea! Smile i guess ill give mine then! what i think is happenening is an extremist wanted to expose the alien for the world to see so he crashes into the train and derails it. a young evelyn minker captures the creature on super 8 film by accident. fast forward to the present when she dies and josh recieves her belongings not knowing what hes getting into. he views the footage he revieved and starts asking questions. he is the one who was contacted and had the printout conversation and selling the other things in the box on craigslist. i think josh will dig just a little too deep with his investigation and it will be a race between josh and the government to uncover the truth. i dont know just how rocket poppeteers fits in though Very Happy tell me what u think!

One idea that I had was that the creature was filmed cloverfield style on a super 8 camera, and was covered up by josh minker's grandmother, in that she was one of the people who caught it. She dies, has an estate sale, and her grandson finds it in a box of her possesions. He watches the film, titled "scariest thing i ever saw" and tries to find out more about it.

Perhaps the plot will revolve around his grandmother and the time of filming the incident, or perhaps it will somehow involve his discoveries in the present, and how he deals with them.

I guarantee you the viral plot points won't end up as a significant portion of the film. Traditionally they're scantly mentioned - see Slusho/Cloverfield. Look at it from a business perspective, too hard to synergize the marketing department and script department. Two different sets of creatives trying to do two different things (tell an accessible story to the masses vs. gin up a cult fan base)

Well, whatever it is that it winds up being about, I sure hope its not that easy to guess or its gonna be a loooonnng wait for nothin..

Right now, we cant even answer what the first clue we got 'the scariest thing I ever saw" is..and we really havent been given anything but some basic storyline foundations being laid for the story to unfold..
Hopefully, the 'game' will start soon.

One notable thing is that in order for anyone to have been at the scene filming the train wreck in Super 8, they would have needed alot of additional lights to see anything being at night...and why would anyone be there filming something they didnt know was going to happen?
