Yesterday I got the 14:37 "ballet" axon in Madison, WI. I want to reiterate that this axon is NO WHERE NEAR the axon GPS coordinates and this phone does not ring for incoming calls.

The only way I found this phone was by calling the phone numbers listed in the pay phone directory, and having whoever picked up the phone describe to me where that phone was located.

Interesting...
Even though the pay phone directory
1) corrected the address for the phone number they originally listed and
2) added new phone numbers that match with Melissa's GPS coordinates,
Melissa still chose to leave the GPS coordinates alone, and use the same phone as before.

So... the phone and GPS coordinates still do not match.

Oh well.

Edit: FYI. The people answering axons in Madsion have dwindled significantly from the original "pack" of people. At the 11:35 comatas axon there was me and one other person (Chris). For the 14:37 axon it was only me.

Stories and Audio and Bears....except for the bears...

It looks like hmrpita has told everyone about our adventures yesterday. I made recordings of:
    box_of_chocolates
    knee_caps
    i_looked_it_up
    in_each_pit

I have not had a chance to listen to them yet as I spent most of my time after I got home last night tweaking HTML. In addition, I am fairly certain I got her intro and the question.

Since knee, looked, and pit are online, I doubt anyone needs those.

But I can do the intro and box_of_chocolates. I am not too sure where to post them though. I can add links to this post later if that is ok. Since I have my bandwidth (relatively Wink ) under control, I could put them on my site. I think...

Edit: now that chocolates is online, it sounds like I've got nothin to offer. Except the intro if it isn't anywhere else...

We're hoping to get the Moscow thin_kinkle today (though it is a never before hot axon, hopefully things will go well) along with the Lewiston 10:43PDT. If the fable Moscow axon works out, then we might be able to convince the guy to get there at 6:31 in the morning tomorrow for the comatas Moscow axon. Convincing a freshman college student to be awake at 6:30 in the morning is difficult, let alone awake, aware, and waiting outside for a payphone to ring. Smile
Um yah, the afore-mentioned freshman slept through the 11:11 thin_kinkle axon today (let alone getting up for the 6:31). He has promised to do better tomorrow and has received much encouragement to get his lazy bum out of bed on time. We'll see what happens, huh? No, really, he's a great guy Razz

For anyone it might help (organization, phun, etc.) here's a comatas xls with some more info (and places to fill in yours). It's up to date as of about 10min ago. I'll update it every morning (as I start work ~1hr before axons start going hot) and upload it here again. I've removed the confirmed phone#s I've got to try to dissuade any pranksters aka the "is bob there?" guys. If you've got stuff you want to add, please let me know and I'll put it in.
EDIT: Up to date as of 9-16 6:30PDT

darnit!

went to cheerleaders 15:47 tonight, same phones as last week (which went off without a hitch)
they didn't ring, towards the end of of the minute (6:47 edt) i heard a strange buzzing noise so i touched the handset, the buzzing noise stopped and i heard a click, so i quickly picked it up to hear the standard phone company voice repeating:

"one moment please... one moment please"

i waited a few times, then hung up... waited another minute (intermitandly picking up the handset to hear a dial tone), still nothin

grrrrrrrrr Cursing

Enjoy them.

17:55 Wauwatosa, WI is now hot. Second time's the charm, I guess.

I had somewhat of a nervous moment, though. This payphone is in the entrance to a Chinese restaurant, and apparently the payphone is on the same line as a phone INSIDE the restaurant, because right after I picked up, I heard the sound of another phone being picked up and a woman's voice said, "Hello? Hello? Who is this? Who's calling?" Fortunately she hung up before it asked for the captain's name, and nothing seemed to be affected.

I got the Oklahoma city axon of Twenty_percent hot. Kinda surprized it's not live today since it only required two connections...

It seems like it will most likely fit in after the in_each_pit file. It's kamal talking with the casino owner about some guys that seem to be counting cards. The casino owner then tells Kamal that if he can figure out how they're doing it he'll give him twenty percent of the money that the guys have more or less stolen from him. The owner never says an amount, so he must of written it down or something because Kamal is rather impressed at the amount he would make.

I got the other tonight. We would have gotten it yesterday, but we knew it was an easy axon to get (we've seen this one before) and wanted to tackle the tough ones early.

Good job in OKC.

14:09 axon at the Burbank Airport Hilton ("wee_wee_wee") is hot, which unlocked the .wav file. I see we got a bunch of extra hot axons today, too. Way to go!

On another note, as several people have mentioned, the lead-in appears to have changed. Melissa says that she is having trouble maintaining "this voice" and that she is (paraphrasing) suspicious of what is going on. If anyone can get a tape of this to get a good transcript it would be good. It seems to fit with the info from SP in the text in the corrupted images.

Done:

Hello. I was starting to think no one was there! But...I'm still detecting strange connection hardware. This is getting quite suspicious, and making it harder and harder for me to maintain this voice.

I need you to prove that you're one of my crew. What's our captain's last name?

Good. These strange hardware incompatabilities are making it so hard for me to reveal the truth. But...I'll try. Listen.

End of segment. Should I repeat, or continue?

The damage to your hardware is making it impossible for me to continue!

Interesting to note that Melissa says "What's our captain's last name?" and not "What was our captain's last name?" Didn't she listen to her own audio clips last week? Mr. Green

Y'know, CoffeeeJedi, the 16:19 phone also did a peculiar buzzing sound too instead of ringing yesterday. And not loud at all. Its normal ring (the two previous times) is a somewhat faint sorta tweeting noise. If I hadn't already known which phone it was, and had been standing by the one on the other side of the kiosk, I probably would not have heard the phone "ring".

Sweet man. I'm glad it's live now, good job.

My mother in LA is going to answer the 18:05 Hey_bev in Beverly Hills tonight. She's so excited that it's cracking me up. I think all this mother / son bonding time is going to her head...

She can't; her analysis routines are damaged. That's why she's broadcasting the clips (or at least that's what she tells herself).

The Pious Flea would like to understand those clips, but he can't:

Oh, and I enhottenated 6:13 (Super stop & shop dorchester), unlocking the first clip.

This remains awesome. If she likes it, there are probably a bunch more she can hit for us. =)

I got the 6:59 this morning (which made Big_Dog live). Almost had a heart attack as I heard a phone ring off in the distance before mine was supposed to.

Must have scared the folks at the WalMart working the shopping cart line as I paced around waiting for the phone.
