I don't know, but this makes me think Captain "Coop" Copper may be our nemesis. He's amassing a battalion of "kids" for an unknown battle.
For some reason the little boy face in the Trailer comes to mind...

Been going over and over in my head what we are to do with the proper star count when we get it. I started thinking that what if the right star count could be plugged in after the rocket poppeteers web address to open the site ala rocketpoppeteers.com/16 or whatever the right count is. If this sounds totally stupid feel free to berate me, this is only my third arg (Cloverfield and Marble Hornets the other two) so i am not totally sure if that would even work, but ive seen crazier stuff before and it seemed like an intriguing idea especially with the length of time that site has been inactive. Alot of people are thinking it will come active before long, but what if its us that have to activate it? Please chime in with your thoughts
I tried this, and something slightly odd happens. I'm not sure if it is just an error with my browser (using fully updated Mozilla Firefox) but it keeps continuously refreshing the page. This is only when I type www.rocketpoppeteers.com/16
When I type any other number after it, it just opens the rp.com site like normal.
Seems odd to me.

I just tried it and it keeps loading and blinking. But nothing on it. Is that what happened to you?

I'm not getting any of that... red x? Little text box?
Edit--I'm aware of what manipulating the address does... it's just what he's saying is happening is not concordant with what I get.
The only change I've noticed is that if you get the page with the centered heading of 'Rocket Poppeteers', the color of the text is now blue instead of black. That's it.

he means if you type an x after the ip address you get a little tiny place where the typing icon appears but it probably just means theyre working on the site and also if you type a number after the ip address it just sends u to the regular page theres no point in messing with the address

Right, but it's definitely a U.S. flag. Therefor, 50 stars ...
If one flag is to be counted, then both flags would need to be included.
EDIT - The additional numbers have been re-posted to my original list.

Dont think they want us to send our guesses in or they would have asked us to like they did in the newspaper .... I would think instead they want us to figure out a number which we will have to enter somewhere down the line and if correct, it will open up something for us..
This letter announces the beginning of an adventure starting now..Are y'all ready?
I think, as the ad and letter are a throwback in time, and the Internet did not exist back then, our only recourse is to mail them our answers.
i might be mistaken but i just have a question has anyone counted the stars on the envelope

Yes...
...
The letter asks the number of stars on the page, not the envelope it came in.

Yeah that's what happened to me. Only that number. Type any other number and it doesn't do anything. (not for me anyways.)

Just went back the site and it doesn't say the "Head back soon..." thing anymore...
Sorry I should be talking about this in the rp.com forum section.

I must be having the same problem as others with my cookies or something. Typing 16 after the URL doesn't cause any sort of refreshing of the page or img not found x's. Nothing. All I know is that /img/ and /Rocket_Poppeteers_files/ are folders that we don't have access to. The temp file seems to change also. That's all I've noticed.
Edit--WAIT. Spoke too soon! It does that for me now as well! It never finishes loading, and the flicker only occurs whenever you move your mouse.

I get no change at all, either.

I don't have much knowledge on the internet. So, what does this refreshing mean if we type www.rocketpoppeteers.com/16 ?
Does it mean it is trying to load something but they don't want us to access it yet?

No flicker from rocketpoppeteers.com/16

I tried this over the past few days on different computers - using different browsers ...
I can't seem to recreate what you are seeing.
Also, it looks like the general consensus of "How Many Stars Are On This Page?" is:
17 - Intentionally printed Stars.
or
140 - ALL possible Stars.
Therefore, rocketpoppeteers.com/16 is moot.
