Not sure if this will be helpful but here is some simple arithmetic. I was hoping to see a pattern but if there is one it's not very clear.
Code:
(-21.4) - 16.6 = (-38.0) - 16.5 = (-52.5) - 17.8 = (-70.3) - 18.9 = (-89.2) - 38.5 = (-127.7) - 23.2 = (-150.9) - 26.1 = (-177.0) - 17.9 = (-194.9)

I did that too last night but didn't see any pattern

Also, the random string is at least a consistent 17 characters.

That's not always the case. Check out the link below. Refresh that page to get a new string each time. They seem to range from between 16 and 18 characters.

http://helpedna.com/startup.php

I'm still getting 17 each time after many refreshes, but maybe I need to keep trying.
ETA - Yep, think I finally got an 18.
ETA2 - wait, think I take that back. You can't count a single '\' in the php output as that is an escape character to show special characters properly.

I've gotten a couple of 15 and 19 character strings, too. methinks it's a deadend.

Meh, agreed now. Will wait and see if signal strength improves. Smile

The added another thread to 'help'

http://forums.sporemania.com/discussions-generales-sur-darkspore/helpedna-jeu-en-realite-alternee-sur-darkspore-t10507.30.html

And I spotted a post from one of the PM's on confirming that Maxis was involved:

Heh. I thought that the credits page took care of that already! We're glad you all are having fun with this. We're definitely having fun on this end!

They're probably trying to work out how to make us not fail completely XD Or trying to work out our punishment :p

Playing around with arithmetic again, calculated the mean of the negative numbers.

Code:
((-21.1) + (-38) + (-54.4) + (-70.3) + (-72.5) + (-89.2) + (-127.7) + (-150.9) + (-177.0) + (-194.9)) / 10 = -99.6

I think we're looking for the name of a specific star. Possibly one that has some attribute that matches one or all of the negative numbers (or the mean of them). I've been looking at distance in light years and have found matches for some but not all of the negative numbers. I tried some star names which I thought might be a match but no joy.

ETA: On another train of thought, is there possibly a numerical base system (Base n) in which pi=e?

I think that won't get us far, because we've already seen that those 2 numbers aren't pi and e...

Maybe those numbers are kind of a temperature???
either in F or in C...

Hi Likam and Raddeo. Welcome to the forum. I recognize you from the EA forum.

@Likam
The Base n idea was a bit of a long shot but even though the numbers are not technically pi and e (I refer to them as pi and e for simplicity's sake) the idea was that the numbers equal one another using some method. The only real clue we've had for the Language puzzle is

3.14159265589792384626433832950288419716939937058209749445923078164028620899862803482534
= 2.71828182459042353602874715266249775724709369574966967627724076630355475945713821785251

I've since ran the numbers through a base converter and didn't find any matches. I also tried lining up the numbers in multiple ways in hopes that is was substitution but again no matches.

As far as temperatures, that follows along the same lines of thinking I've had about the numbers being some attribute of some star we need to guess. The only problem with the temperature idea I see is that stars are much much hotter than the highest number listed, even if used as a positive integer.

@Raddeo
I believe the link to the three forums is that all three are trying to work out the puzzles. Therefore if one were to seek "help" then one could find it on any of the three threads. That's not typical of most ARGs I've played. Most games don't even acknowledge that OOG resources exist. But hey I'm just rolling with it.

On "credits" page, there are source codes for this console. Maybe someone who know JavaScript, can read them, and find any information?
I konw that's not "fair play", but I haven't got any better ideas.

P.S. vapor, I've never been on EA official forum Wink

The source code on the credits page is somewhat...crippled but the actual source is easy enough to find on the main page and I already checked it out, the javascript passes the commands to a php script which is server side thus preventing us from "cheating".

Ignoring what seems to be a bit of a Spammy McPoophead above me, just an idea on the star command output.

"0.00001585 light distance per solar orbit": 0.00001585 lightyears is the distance from here to the sun. So the star in the picture may be the sun?

As for the negative numbers below that, it is possible (as Likam mentioned) for them to be temperatures, as they seem the most likely. I tried looking at melting/boiling points for elements in Celsius and Fahrenheit but I didn't see anything there. Although, could it be anything to do with some kind of property or index of an actual star?
