darkspore updated

new command Image gives the darkspore logo

Language now reads

Code:

Star now reads:
Quote:

star

0.00001585 light distance per solar orbit

orbits:

-21.4 -38.0 -54.4 -70.3 -72.5 -89.2 -127.7 -150.9

There are now 8 sets of numbers rather than ten and the use of the word orbits makes me wonder if it refers to planets in our solar system. I haven't found any data on our planets that match the number sets yet.

ETA: rotation produces -21.4 -38.0 -54.4 -70.3 -72.5 -89.2 -127.7 -150.9 so I think planets is the right track.

People from the DarkSpore forum found that the logo from the Image command and the logo on Darkspore.com were different.

In GIMP, I subtracted the Darkspore.com logo from the Helpedna.com logo and got:

Type what have I found to get: Image decrypted. THANK YOU

Also, helpedna.com just changed. Type biology to get:

Attempting to identify...

TinEye turned up no results for the four diagrams within the image.

Someone just discovered biology, i'm assuming it was the compounds the diagrams represented.

STAR has changed too.
Earlier it was:
-21.4 -38.0 -54.4 -70.3 -72.5 -89.2 -127.7 -150.9
now it's:
-21.38 -37.99 -54.43 -70.35 -72.51 -89.22 -127.70 -150.91

It has one more decimal place for all numbers.

Typing "help us" gives the full pi puzzle text found in the source.

Is anyone around? I'm this close to solving the pi puzzle, well actually I think I have solved it, just not sure how to get it to come up on helpedna and I could use someone to bounce ideas off of, meet me in the unfiction chat room if you'd like to help.

Link to chat: http://chat.mibbit.com/?url=irc%3A%2F%2Firc.chat-solutions.org%2F%23unfiction

Edit: Well this is as close as I can get for now I guess:

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
It comes out to snippets of the text here: http://darkspore.com/overview.php the italicized part is from the official site.

1st set: teneticallytranssoeminganeeculptinglviingmattertotheirwillingheiruncheckedarrogancethe{areatedsometuingtheycouleotpbnteo genetically transforming and sculpting living matter to their will, in their unchecked arrogance they created something they couldn't control
2nd set: galakyisundesrieg galaxy is under siege
3rd set: planetarypbpulationsintomutateegordeplanetary populations into mutated hordes
4th set: dominatrlifeonallplanet dominate life on all planets
5th set: afugitivfgiddenforbalillenniu a fugitive, hidden for a milennium
6th set: eeconstruptanarsenalofgeneticherbe reconstruct an arsenal of genetic heroes
7th set: leafehrbattl lead the battle

I also noticed the last letter of each set is missing, LESSMSE

Which is likely the language less-mese or something like that, but I cannot for the life of me get the stupid console to accept it. Grrr.

Oh yeah. The method. Basically it's the difference between missing numbers with the exception that you don't count repeated digits. For example there are 14159265_ 8 digits before the _ which equals H, 58979_ 5 digits before the _ which equals E, 2384626433832_ 13 digits before the _ but subtract one because of the 33 (or don't count it to begin with) to get 12 or L. Follow the pattern to get HELP US from the short language code.

Edit 2:
Spoiler (Rollover to View):
So I realized that the text you get when typing help us is different than in the source. I modified my script from before to calculate the distance and translate them to letters, based on ASCII, which is why there's a bracket in the above text. Anyway I did the first 4149 characters and this is what I got

"ye,ssi.rwehavesentpiandenowbuttherehataeeomorespons.fa
sheirgrammaticalstructuresseemremarkablyprimitiv.etheyplacf
sheirtardinsafterlarksandthenseemtousepinnunsasreference.s
ousrimplesuainarysystemrequesttookweekstointerpre.ttherehas
beennoresponsetoourlinguisticquerie.sjmnotevensure"

(random line breaks inserted to not break the forum) Working on the rest, I wrote the program in mIRC script and it can only handle ~4000 characters at a time.

Second 4149 characters analyzed:

"thereareanysentientbeingsontheothersideofthebeaco,n
si.rsi.rye,ssi,rtheydoseemmoresophisticatedthanprimitive
lifeform.sye,swedoneedtheirhel.pye,sye,swhereelsewouldwff?o
buullwehavhcoundthroughtheaccesspointishikobytesofuseless
chatteringsandafewaccurateresponsestoourmostbasicquerie.s
itwilltakehun"

Third 4149 characters analyzed:

"dredsoftinkoyearstoparsethisdatawithoutsomesorunflinguistic
referenc.ecertainlyintelligentbeingswouldhaveassistedbyno.w
jcqlotevenknowthenetworktmam!eye,ssi.ritreallywasthesimplest
unbreakablecodeicoulddevis,esi.riunderstan,dsi.rhypotheticall,y
pimighvlotbetheirprimarycomputinglanguag.eye,ssi"

Final 638 chars:

",rwfgavetpavoiddetectio.nofcours,esi.rillkeeponi."

Transcription of the plain text. I left a few nonsensical words in.

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Yes sir we have sent pi and e now but there has been no response as their grammatical structures seem remarkably primitive they place their tardins after larks and then seem to use pinnuns as references our simple suainary system request took weeks to interpret there has been no response to our linguistic queries im not even sure there are any sentient beings on the other side of the beacon sir sir yes sir they do seem more sophisticated than primitive lifeforms yes we do need their help yes yes where else would we go? but all we have found through the access point is hikobytes of useless chatterings and a few accurate responses to our most basic queries it will take hundreds of tinkoyears to parse this data without some sort of linguistic reference certainly intelligent beings would have assisted by now we don't even know the networks name yes sir it really was the simplest unbreakable code i could devise sir i understand sir hypothetically pi might not be their primary computing language yes sir we have to avoid detection of course sir ill keep on it.

Edit: Sorry for the triple post, wasn't even paying attention. Also the source of the missing letters on the end looks like it may be my script, not sure. And don't have time to work on it, I have to go to work in 7 hours so I need some sleep.

Nice work Azure. I was on the same track last night assuming HELP US = modified pi = modified e. The only thing I didn't have was not counting repeating numbers. Evil or Very Mad

Spoiler (Rollover to View):
Was reading through my transcription of the plaintext and realized it said "don't even know the network's name" so I entered internet and it said "Language translated. THANK YOU."

The values of star have changed at least three different times today. I've been thinking that Maxis has been finding rounding errors in the values and correcting them, but is it possible that the values themselves are not static?
